Hello. I have lived in Madrid, Spain for the past 18 years and have never had any problem with racism. I teach at a university in Madrid and have had no problems there either. However, we must remember that everyone has different experiences in life. There is no sense in arguing with anyone trying to prove someone wrong. To those who have bad experiences in Spain, move on and do not return. Ask yourself what have you learned from the experience. There are many other countries to visit. Find those that bring you joy and forget the ones that brought you grief and heartache. Life is too short to focus on the negative.

A growing amount of people, of all races, are moving out of the US for a better life. Especially in recent years due healthcare, cost of living, violence, racism and the government just not giving a care in general about anyone other than the 1%. Portugal threw me off. I lived there years ago and experienced some of the worst racism of my life. I wonder if these African Americans who live there speak the language or if they live in a bubble. Many Black Portuguese and Brazilians of all races have complained about their treatment.

If you don't speak the language, you're missing out on the real culture. I lived there some years back, but I didn't see any black people in good positions or "thriving " as African Americans put it. I think it's part illusional. Just because there are lots of black people there, doesn't mean that they are thriving. It might take a while for them to realize it. Not that I am seeking solidarity from anyone because, as a Black American (USA) woman (yes I said it and yes it matters), I am accustomed to not receiving basic empathy, however, I am entitled to my feelings based on my experiences like every other human being.
The resentment toward Black USA Americans across the globe is real and it is nasty, including from other African descended people. The USA experience of racism is unique and the most traumatizing of any other in history. While you do not have to agree with our opinions, don't tell us that our experiences are not real or are inflated simply because they are not your experiences. The ignorance and self-hate in this comment section and in the world (including within our own community) is real.
I was raised with intelligence and dignity and I hold my head up high - this means that I do not need to tear down others to lift my own esteem because I know my worth. However, I will not put up with foolishness whether in my own country or abroad because as a daughter of the only true God, freedom was handed to me not by man but by His Spirit.
I am free to move as I please and move I do. Do not tell us to "stay home" or to "go back" without expecting a passionate response and thinking that we must do it because you are intimidated by our strength and honesty. Also, stop tearing us down only to expect us to stand up for you when you too are treated as we are because we don't owe anyone anything but to mind our business.
My value to the world is no less than yours and I will always speak my truth unabashadly whether you attempt to quiet me or not; I implore everyone to do the same within their right and without intentionally hurting others. What comes around always goes around.

But ma'm if you go to other Countries and you bring this mentality that the whole world is racist and that especially towards african-americans then you might see racism even if its not really against African Americans or not racism at all.
Some Africans that moved to the US don't like that some African Americans almost get angry with them for not having the same mentality but they don't have the same history.
Jewish people were victims of racism, genocide and pogroms during 2000 years but most of them don't think that the world hates them.
Im just saying don't assume that the world hates you and if someone is rude that it has to be because you are African American.

So when they finally lifted the travel ban I went to Tanzania where there weren't any COVID restrictions. After being in Dar es Salaam for 6 months I realized I didn't like it so I got on a bus and went to Mombasa Kenya where I continue to live. When I travel to Caribbean or S A. I know this and whilst skin colour may be same culturally we are not. @@afrikanheritage99 So what, if you are black and raised in Britain, born there, know their history, food, culture, and more then you are British. Just because you have roots in other places doesn't change where you are born and raised. Like yeah I have African Roots but I was still raised and born in America. Plus like they said just because you go to somewhere that shares a skin color with you doesn't mean you'll be welcomed. That doesn't even happen in America between neighborhoods.

Let me add this. If you are going to live in another country, make sure you learn the language of that country. Why? You are respected even more. And it increases you everyday living options. Whether that be shopping or touring. As an African American, I speak fluent Spanish. So when I travel, I am able to tour and shop with confidence in Spanish speaking countries. Also study and learn the countries monetary currency. And lastly, learn the ins and outs, do's and don't and the ropes to jump and those to skip. Living abroad is not the panacea its made out to be unless YOU are ready and have done extensive research. I say this as a military veteran who has traveled extensively and a person who has lived in over 12 foreign countries. I now live in the USA.

African Americans dont realize the privilege we have as Americans most of these countries especially the Latin ones are hostile to their native black people and foreign blacks will be treated with more respect. Ie think of how some white Americans prefer continental africans over black Americans it's the same thing. Also our American dollars also helps. Their not nice because they actually like you but nice because they see dollars signs.

You live in a Racist world to be honest. Ever wondered why Africans go there & always move back after getting established? Because they know they aren't second class citizens where they come from. The racism in the west is mind numbing. Live in a Society where you have a Say & social command. Any Smart black individual with enough money should invest in Africa. There are very nice Cities you could invest in and secure a future for your generations before its too late.

I just bought an apartment last year pre construction in Vitoria - the capital of the state of Espirito Santo - the next state north of Rio de Janeiro. Vitoria & it's sister city Vila Velha across the bay has a higher standard of living and lower crime rate than Rio. Blessed with beautiful beaches and mountains, this area is DEFINITELY worth looking into!

Brazil is not the second country with the most black people, this is a fallacy, 42% are white, 46% are Pardo = Mixed, and 9% are Black, in the united states you say that the child of a white person with a black person is black person, here it doesn't work that way, if a black person has a child with a white person, we call it pardo (mixed), I'm Pardo, I'm neither white nor black, and I accept myself very well that way, we have to respect the differences between countries and stop trying to impose your way of thinking on others' countries.

I caught the bus from Costa Rica to Panama. Panama is cheaper. I went to Thailand back in 2008. The way they're making it difficult for tourist due to the Pandemic is BS. I also been to Cambodia and caught a bus to Vietnam. Both of them are excellent for living. I would never leave the country because of racism. It is everywhere I would leave for a better living experience such as Healthcare, friendlier people, culture, crime, etc. Blacks are very mean here towards each other..thats enough alone. Now I expect a pig to be a pig in some cases. I show kindness because we are human beings❤

Good. I'm from Africa and migrated to the USA and I'm loving it out here. Y'all can move, stay, live and keep Africa. I bet you for every 1 Black American that moves to Africa, there are like 1,000 Africans that will ABSOLUTELY love to take their place in the USA. Goodluck to y'all.

Out of curiosity, may I ask what you like better about the USA, and did you move from any of the African countries listed on here?

@@leej1759 Moved to the US from Nigeria. Spent most of my Life in Nigeria. Things I like about the USA. EVERYTHING. The fact that if you are focused, work hard, dedicated and determined you can absolutely achieve your goals, ambitions and aspirations. I moved to the USA with just $100 to my name. Today I own a house in the US and in Nigeria, a business and I'm able to render Help to folks in Nigeria. That's why I fly the American flag proudly on my House. Lived most of my life in Africa, so I can absolutely compare both continents and attest to which one is better for ME. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror and figure out what the real problem is. Is there "RACISM" out here. Yep. But in Africa there is this thing called "TRIBALISM" which is even worse. But I learnt a long time ago that EVERYONE is not supposed to like YOU and you are not supposed to like EVERYONE. So I have never looked at such things as a hinderance. With GOD being on your side, The ONLY thing that can STOP you is YOU. Add I absolutely love American women more than African women. (Just throwing that in there.
