Thanks so much for this review! I'm thinking about getting one of these to use as a "general purpose" Linux laptop. They're very cheap now (secondhand).
How is the sound quality my friend? Especially more towards the bass. Do you have any built-in settings to adjust and play around with the equalizer? How much more bass does it have than your phone. All thanks and stay awesome out there. 😊🌎✨
I just use the stock setting and tbh the speakers are kind of weak out the box. I may download a program to enhance them because I think they can be louder. The sound is balanced & good quality. I haven’t really pushed the bass too much to know. My latitude 7980 was louder so I need to fix that.
@@thekhakiobserver3128 One of the things that helped bring out the sound and bass of my Latitude 7490 and make it completely usable for listening to music (and greatly enjoying it! 😃) was a free program called FXSound. Even though it's just software, it completely revamped the sound quality of my laptop. From flat and drab, to rather full and robust. It helped it sound like an entirely different machine. 🙂🌎❤️
I just bought one of these. Had a 7480 when I worked for Dell that I used for Java development, etc. Great computer for the money, used. I think mine could use a new battery, though. I'll ask the (local) seller if they warranty a replacement battery. It's down to about a 90 minute life just sitting with the screen on and a few web pages open in the background.
I agree this is a great laptop for the money. You can upgrade certain chipsets to windows 11 though. I would also recommend a non touch screen one as that thing will drain power. You definitely need a new battery.
@@thekhakiobserver3128 yes, battery replacement and SSD and memory upgrades are very easy with this laptop, another thing that makes it a good used buy.
I actually just bought one of these off of eBay because I only paid $53 for it and I could actually go physically pick it up. The only difference of mine is it’s running Linux mint vera soon to be upgraded to 21 .2 the long-term release but I am extremely happy with mine. Great review
My laptop is definitely full HD. It depends on the specifications added on these models. It would not be worth it to change the screen out to make it full HD in my opinion also.
Would this laptop be worth it in 2024? I would be using it for school and some games like Minecraft and Roblox. Nothing too intense. I can’t get a straight answer on google
I’d say so…definite find one under $200 and you’ll be pleased. Outside of gaming there isn’t really anything that strains pcs imo. Everything being optimized for mobile helped with that.
@@metallic479Using a SIM card ejector tool or a paperclip tuat fits in the small hole. There will be a SIM card ejector tool in the box your phone came in.
I’d say very light applications. It’s not really going to be the best for that, but if it’s the machine you have you might as well use it to the fullest.
My laptop is everything the same as yours, i-5, with a 500gb SSD nvme, running on a single 16gb ram however. My question you: When I did a "Stats for nerds" RUclips streaming frame test, 720p and 1080p 30 fps there are no frame drops. But when I have it to 60fps on 1080p, frame drops a few, 4k60 was a lot. I don't know why though, the Intel UHD 620 should be more than sufficient to handle a 4k60 online RUclips playback streaming without any hiccups or frame drops at all. (I even check the Intel webpage of the CPU Intel UHD 620 graphic should handle this fine). I currently am running Windows 10 Home x64, and have tried reinstalling the Intel graphics driver...same thing with the frame drops... I wonder if that happens the same to you as well??
First of all i believe you shouldnt have this kind of issue at all. Maybe since you are using single channel aka 1 ram instead of 2 for dual channel. I have experienced huge difference on games, origonally i have bought an used e7550 with single 8gb ram hd5500 gpu and games were like very bad on lowest settings.. Added another 8gb ram for dual channel, upgraded smothly the resolutions and the fps went up for +50% circa +20-30 the minimum fps… Give a try, ram amount doesnt matter for games but dual channel was unexpected boost for it.

I am getting a normal 7480 with 8gb ram and i7 6 th generation VS 7490 touch i7 8th Generation 8gb, price difference is 12k between the two, which one do you think I should go for
Id go with the 7480 for that price difference. You can always upgrade memory if you really need it. The chassis and Fiel are really not much different. The only thing is that the six generation I seven cannot be upgraded to windows 11 I believe. That could change in the future, however.
Yes it is 16:9. I’m old school and love this aspect ratio. The height helps when scrolling pages like Amazon and other retail sites. Side by side stuff suffers , but thats always going to be a hassle on a small laptop screen.
I’m not much of a gamer so it’s hard for me to say. For $120 I don’t think you’ll find much better. Upgrade the ram to 16gb is it had less and rock out with it 👍
I used it for a web development with 32 gb of ram and so fast for everything i need ❤
Nice!

Would be getting one this month for my freelance work. It'll also connect to my 65w power bank. 16gb/512gb for a good price.
Nice congrats!
Just got one recently,it's amazing, mine has the i5 with 32gb of ram and a 512gb ssd and this thing flies, old but gold!
Nice! Congrats & good specs 👍
My 7480 motherboard is dead..can i swap with 7490 motherboard in it?..the size and ports everything looks nearly identical..is it possible to fit ?
You'll have to let me know. The chassis seems to be the same, but sometimes there are small changes that ruin that option.
Amazing video ...ihave the same pc with
i7 8650u
16 ram
512 ssd nvme
i use it for studying and web browsing and things are going very well for me ❤️
Nice that’s a dope spec and will serve you well…congrats!
Found one of these for $220. Hoping i dont get scammed, it comes with 16gb ram too.
I also bought this lap with 16gb ram
Hoping you don’t. It’ll be a good machine if not 👌
