    This was so amazing and enjoyable...how you must have spent hours and hours...days and months even, planning every tiny detail because you certainly seem to have thought about everything. While you were 'touring' the kids sleeping area I became more and more alarmed wondering..."Where's all the clothes???" But you got to it in the very last segment..thank goodness haha. Great job and such an education on the road the kids are getting..unforgettable stuff that will stick with them for a lifetime.

    Fantastic, the electric and electronics make me so jealous. The whole project screams for more info. Wonderful layout, fit and finish! One question though, you have 4 growing children, WHERE IS THEIR FOOD?!?!?!?

      Thanks Michael! Yeah the organization on those electronics was a highlight for me, too. I love it! We have a 7.5 cubic foot fridge and plenty of counter space and pantry space. So far so good!

    This is a wonderful tour of the re-done Airstream. So many features in so small a space. I'm very impressed how beautiful it turned out. I love the fantastic fans you put on and how the antenna works. Nice pacement of the solar panels and all the solar power equipment and wiring. I'm glad you fixed all the running portions of the trailer. All the new axels, tires and lift kits are such a good idea to make new. My sister was very hurt when their RV tire blew and they rolled into the highway median at 75 miles per hour. Not good! Nice that you went with an electric freezer/refrigerator. If you have propane you have to make sure you are exactly level or it doesn't work so well. I love the sleeping spaces and all the bathroom arrangement. I never knew you could have a shower pole that could be moved in and out. It does look very homey and I'm so glad you got to bring the ruler from your house with you. I love all the stickers on the door and walls of all the places you visited. I like the home office. Amazing job on your tiny shiny home!

    Amazing work; you are brilliant and I’m sure your Wife added much of the design and input herself. What do you do about laundry with a team of 6? I assume you have to come off grid to the nearest laundromat? it has to be often. BUMMER!

    • @TinyShinyHome
      @TinyShinyHome  5 лет назад

      Thanks Gerita, we just run into town to a laundry mat to wash clothes once a week. It's typically faster than running loads in a house because you can do it all at once! We do errand runs often even when off-grid (the trailer stays parked).

    I own a 72 Overlander, Spent about two years in restoration, fridge, oven, stove, AC all original. Updated structure, rear end separation, new plumbing updated to 60 amp converter, etc. Owned her for 8 years now, and used her a lot. I've watched probably all of the "commercial" videos out there, but this video tour was the best one I've ever seen! No privacy curtains for the kids’ bunks? Bad form. If they have to sleep 4 in such a tiny space, at least give them an opportunity to get a little solo space.

    • @TinyShinyHome
      @TinyShinyHome  4 года назад

      theatremusician if they want privacy they have sheets they can hang from the cabinets above for privacy. They much prefer to talk to each other, especially at night when they all have the giggles. They’re bonding and it’s beautiful to watch. If they feel the need to be alone they’ll often spend time outside. They’re not ‘stuck’ anywhere. We’re often on BLM land and they are free to roam.

    There is no way I can’t sub to this channel after watching this video! Well done beautiful home you have provided and a wonderful way of life for your children and family. You are providing so many extremely wonderful memories for your children that they will be able to take with themselves throughout their lifetime’s. And I bet all of them will turn out to be wonderful parents as well. You and your wife are absolutely brilliant! You have a learn to live with only what you absolutely need and I think this minimalism that you have is certainly something that is also bringing a lot of happiness. When you have only what you absolutely need then extras in life seem like such a wonderful pleasant luxuries. But it seems you are stressing that things are not as important as living!

    Great tour video! We have an ‘83 Airstream that we are just getting started on. As a momma, it drives me just a little nuts though that y’all didn’t put a pocket door just before the bunk room. After living in it for a while, do you regret that choice?

    • @TinyShinyHome
      @TinyShinyHome  4 года назад

      We tried pocket doors, but they just didn't fit. Those vintage rounded roofs make it really hard to make pocket doors work unless you have a very small area to walk through. We wanted more breathing room so it is what it is :)

    How do you put 6 people in the trailer and have privacy

  • @Damoneverywhere
    @Damoneverywhere 3 года назад +1

    Questions 1) Was there a reason you didn’t go with a 3 axle 33’ or 34’ Airstream with the 5 person family remodel? 2) Do you have any regrets OR are you thankful that you didn’t go bigger? I have 3 children and was going to renovate with the bunk house in the back (side bath), and our front setup exactly like yours - but I was leaning towards a later model airstream so that I could go larger. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations with regards to the larger airstream? Thank you for your time...really amazing and greatly appreciated that you actually respond to all your comments.

    • @TinyShinyHome
      @TinyShinyHome  3 года назад +1

      We actually wanted a 27' - maneuverability starts getting tricky the longer you get. Especially if you are going down the crazy roads we do boondocking. Those longer Airstreams have a much higher probability of bottoming out, even with a lift kit because there's more sticking off the back past the wheels. Since these aren't 5th wheels, the total length adds up quick. With a 22' truck and 31' trailer + hitch, we're well over 50 feet. That being said, I'm glad we ended up with the 31' because as the kids have gotten older (and bigger) we've appreciated the extra space. But I wouldn't go bigger for sure unless you just plan on being in parks all the time.

    • @Damoneverywhere
      @Damoneverywhere 3 года назад

      Great info...thank you. I plan to do more parks than you are probably use to, but I still want the functionality that you mentioned with your 31. I will definitely factor in your recommendations in the coming months during my search. Thank you again for the prompt and valuable response. You will see me in your “Store” soon - I’m intrigued by your website and story😊

    How do you feed a family of 4 while boondocking with so little pantry area??? With a family of 4..nobody with a weight problem, i would have been out of food in a couple of days.

      We have plenty of food storage for all of us. We also do intermittent fasting so we’re only making two meals a day. More than enough room for food for a week at a time.

    Oh my your home is absolutely gorgeous. I love this. I just found your channel. We own a home in Jefferson County West Virginia ( 40 miles from Washington D.C) but my hubby and I moved too Texas last February and I love it. I talked my husband into buying me a 5th wheel, I am selling giving away so much stuff lol I don't miss things. My hubby took a job transfer, I am done working ( I have been a nurse 35 year's) C-19 18, 24 hour shifts just wore my mentality out. God bless and love your home.

    Hey Shiny Tiny family! Love watching and reading about your journey! Im curious how your floors have held up? And if you love them, can you share brand please? We are starting the flooring part of our remodel and SO love the look of yours. Hope to run into you someday!

      Essentially Abundant hi! We LOVE our floors. They have held up beautifully. They are Mohawk planks (vinyl). The only thing we don’t like about them is how heavy they are. However, we installed them last so the flooring doesn’t go under any cabinetry so we have a true floating floor. This makes it much easier if we ever need to replace them or get to the subfloor:) would I buy them again? Absolutely!

    Fabulous build out!! Curious..I see most folks that video their build out showing us all the cupboards and drawers with inventory of what is in them. Why?? Why do RUclipsrs feel it necessary to itemize each item in each storage space. I just dont get it. I really think folks dont realize how unimportant it is for us viewers. I do like to see all of your electronics and their placement. Dont take my observation/question in a negative way please. Thanks again for a really great conversion. The best I have seen especially for 6 people!

    Hey guys I'm a new subscriber because I just saw you on "my little homestead" and I liked what I saw. I used to have a 1962 Airstream and it was all original. Halfway through the restoration we got a chance to buy a nice piece of property on the Oregon coast 800 feet from the water and built a house. I sold the Airstream and a fithwheel trailer we were living in to build the house. I wish I still had it. Lol
    I am trying to go back and watch all of your earlier videos and see the process you went through to redo your Airstream and the sandbag house that you are in the middle of.
    Keep the videos coming and I'll keep watching then.
