I'm not surprised the HTC One M8 at least sounds better, its obviously not going to be louder as the speaker drivers themselves are 1/6th the size. However, the smart-boost NXP TFA amplifiers that drive those little speakers can actually drive them safely up to 4w with speaker protection, heat and excursion monitoring. The enclosures are also very well designed for a phone, with nano-material filler for improved lows.
Until it blows ,htc has bad hardware and it has my favorite software too bad for hardware

I remember when I was younger my parents bought me the X-mini 2 which had 2 of those attached to each other. A year later I disassembled them and installed the drivers and amp units in a metal salted nuts canister and it sounded pretty good with surprising bass.

Get some bose soundlink mini clone drivers off ebay - built exactly the same as actual bose ones and has big excursion for the size. They're listed under 40mm Bluetooth speaker or similar

Could you do a review of the Polaroid PBT3016? I think you might like it. It has very good bass response, and even has a bass port in the back of the enclosure. But you must use Bluetooth with it bc static can be heard when you use the aux cable.

dude the amp in that that thing must have like at least twice as much bass as my rockford fosgate punch 45hd with the two 10 inch 45 watt subs that go with it and also i thing that has 2 AWG wire... lol that amp board had some pretty massive heat sinks and fans on it also

I've blown a pair of Sony xplods. Man those things will deafen you with the bottoming out! And they'll take some more power and some more power and then finally blow. Kapton formers are the real deal lol
Buy the zulu 2.1 by blackweb. It costs $100, has a 100 watt 5 1/2 inch sub, 4 driver soundbar. Its advertised to have hd quality 2.1 surround sound. Its pretty nice for a cheaper speaker. Ive checked and it can do down to about 1hz pretty cofortably.
