Hey so the theories are all good and all but why don't people just ask the Creator if it's true or not because that would clear it up but nobody asked those questions
I honestly like the idea that all former owners of the death book are humans that have turned into shinigami it kind of rolls into that whole idea that you don't get to go to heaven or hell
Well in the last chapters of manga, Ryuk explains that all humans go to MU (Nothingness) and there's no changing it. He was just messing with light in the first chapters/episodes. This concept actually alines with general idea behind the whole series - the most valuable thing at life is a game, the only ones happy in this world are those who escape boredom and routine, especially knowing that after life there is nothing.
@@yandere5094 there a theory on the internet that saying Deathnote and Death Parade are connected. If that the case, then there are 2 normal path for human souls: reincarnation or nothingness abyss. Another way is probably becoming a staff in the judging tower or a shinigami

There for sure will be spin offs someday. Just look at the avatar the last airbender franchise, it’s gonna be the next stranger things. Death note literally has the same potential as avatar has
@guy152_boy you're missing his appearance in Death Parade just after the time the arbiters are having to deal with an unusually large number of sudden deaths in the human world, light is literally sat in a room waiting for his arbiter to decide his fate. And in this Anime, just like it says in Death Note, when people die they don't go to heaven or hell, it's just nothingness or reincarnation as a newborn (which is elaborated on in the Death Parade)
I saw a post talking about the theory that light turn into a shinigami a very long time ago. And on that post, they said some thing that convinced me that the theory was true. Basically the post said that Thematically for the story it makes total sense for him to become a shinigami. I mean think about it. He’s so obsessed with power and the notebook and wanting to be able to control life and death, and he finally has all of that in a permanent irreversible way. It’s his book now. No one can take it from him. And he has the eyes. Except now he can’t use it to take over the world like he wanted to. He’s in another dimension where he’ll never be able to get credit for being god of the New World like he wanted. He’s immortal so in some ways he is a God, but not quite in the way that would stroke his ego. It’s like he’s so close to his goal, and he has so many of the things that he needed throughout the series but he’ll never be satisfied, and now he can only use the book to prolong his life, but never to achieve his goals. And he will be constantly miserable. That’s a pretty fitting end for someone like him.
That's just still a theory and the writer never claims it to be canon. For what I'm understand from that scene that new shinigami want to be like Ryuk, explore human world. He offered an apple as a trade off or payment to tell a story because all shinigami love apple like Ryuk mentioned in early episode.
@taqiyukenji Him offering an apple showed that it was light, because only Light would know Ryuk likes apples, since there are none in the shinigami realm.
@Snailshroom Literally one of the very first scenes where they show Ryuk in Death Note he is eating an apple in the shinigami realm. He describes it like sand. That why he likes earth realm apples because they are juicy.
Well in the last chapters of manga, Ryuk explains that all humans go to MU (Nothingness) and there's no changing it. He was just messing with light in the first chapters/episodes. No ryuk said he would either go to hell or heaven if he dies but he will never know Well ryuk can already Comfirmed that Light can be a fine shinagami already Well this is noncanon so it's still a very convincing theory
@@Mysterious....... he said he would NEITHER go to heaven or hell. I have the manga in front of me 😅 page 22 (black version) Ryuk said "don't think that any human who's used the death note can go to heaven or hell." 😉💖
However do you realize the repercussions of this? Light as a shinigami with a goal to punish criminals, the death note and completely immune to everything unless he loves somebody which he would not do... He could proceed to kill criminals as Kira and now nobody can stop him.
@@dmitriy4708 The only way for that to work is if all the shinigami who used the Death Note in their human forms, would forget all their memories that were related to their human lives. As Ryuk said in Death Note, he pointed out that shinigami don't even know why they exist and what their purpose really is other than to kill people to extend their life span. So it would make sense that if light did turn into a shinigami, he would have forgotten all his memories from his human life. But for some reason, has a drive to go to the human world. Who knows. Maybe he could hand it to somebody and try to copy Ryuk. And on the inside, has the feeling of wanting to help Kira 2.0.
@@overcast1725 if that man got his memory back once he can do it again Logically speaking even if he doesn't regain his memory he would be smart enough to realise he was Kira

Also, They literally said in the anime that those with a death note will go to neither heaven nor hell. To me, that insinuated very heavily they go to the Shinigami realm and become shinigamis.
The world had never seen kira killings prior to light , so it wouldn’t make sense personally id rather see light as a shinigami re tormenting the world with his chosen human , and N grown up trying to stop him
But in the last ep of death note it was a frame in which it was written that the owner of death note goes to a place called mu in different font. It was also written that the place mu means nothingness
@@AnimeFrenzy63 it also pointed out that the technicality is that there is no heaven or hell. so everyone goes there. It's not actually a punishment for using the notebook.
I mean no going to heaven or hell spunds like a limbo. The shinigami world is definitely a limbo. Ryuk refers to Light as "already an excellent shinigami". The note holders can get the eyes. There are tons of clues that they bevome shinigami. Even their "death" requires love and self sacrifice. I think when shinigami "die" they are just freed from their limbo to finally reincarnate or go to heaven or whatever.
Completely agree. And I like the idea that the shinigami can't be released from their existence until they love a human enough to sacrifice themselves. Light would have difficulty doing this, of course -- until realizing the futility of his existence -- and what if he did it to save Misa?
That isn't how it works. The anime didn't fully explain that rule. The truth is that heaven and hell don't exist in the world of death note. When a human dies they go to mu aka nothingness. Nothing exists beyond death.
Yknow what would be an absolutely amazing sequel. It would also be absolutely difficult to write but light shinigami slowly regaining his memories and eventually coming into conflict with other shinigami as well as eventually the shinigami king.
That’s a cool headcannon. Ryuk could be a former death note wielder and being a shinigami was the true punishment. Boredom feels like torture. Stuck. And your life depends on the death of mortals.
@Lee Jet first of all, cool name. Second of all, eternal oblivion hasn't been proven either. I'm not making a religious argument. Simply speaking, we were all born from a state of temporary oblivion. So why fear everlasting oblivion? Just because it's scary? We already know matter can not be destroyed and time is not perceived in unconscious states. I don't think it matters how long it would take for you to re-emerge. The eternality of oblivion seems to be an illusion generated by a mind that is trapped in ordinary human consciousness. -trapped by the illusion of time
@Z not really. The manga and anime are just different stories. In the manga, light is begging ryuk to kill everyone. So ryuk kills light and then we get a flashback of light figuring out that there is no heaven or hell. Non of this happened in the anime. As far as the anime is concerned, light and misa are annihilated and everyone else goes to heaven/hell.
"Death note usere will not see heaven or hell". Shinigamis don't see either too. I don't think the souls of the users would just vanish. That quote sounded more like a threat of existing and not making it to either aftelife. Forever stuck in the void in between
This, and the alternate ending where Light is punished in purgatory, (like all Death Note users), and has to suffer the pain and specific death of EVERY name he wrote in the Death Note (being killed in the same way as he wrote, only to come back to life, and so on, until he has gone through the hundreds and thousands of deaths) are two non-canonical, but totally head canon endings that I absolutely adore.
Purgatory would indicate that death note users can go to hell, and it’s been said several times that death note users go to neither Heaven nor hell when they die. So Light being punished in purgatory would not be something that happens, since he was a death note user.
I remember that little alternate ending. Would’ve been cool for like a part 3 with Light, Ryuk, and Misa trying to take down the Shinigami king. In that way Light could finally become a god.
It seems to be true. In season 2 opening there's a psychotic scene with Light as a human in the shinigami realm, so might that be an allusion to the ending?
There's a lot of truth to support this theory The fact that anyone who uses it won't go to heaven or hell The fact that when Light asks what will happen to him, he says he'll find out The Shinigami throw the apple to Ryuk the same way Light does The fact that the Shinigami is seemingly lacking eyes as a reference to Light never making the deal with Ryuk for the eyes The fact that we see so many Shinigamis but they bring in a completely new one for just the OVA The fact that the Shinigami leaves before Ryuk finishes the story as if he already knew the end The OVA ending with Ryuk indirectly talking to Light and then the next scene moves to this unnamed Shinigami just walking
This might not be Light, do you all remember Mello's friend who died after Kira's bodygaurd's shot him in the public? The Shinigami's clothes are the same as Mello's friend. So chances are this might not be Light at all, it might be Matt. The glasses that the Shinigami was wearing appears to be the same as Matt, so this might be him.
“One who writes in the note will not go to heaven or hell” I think they just go to purgatory but in Light’s situation he became more than cursed. He became death itself. He clearly wasn’t the 1st to have the idea, he wouldn’t be the last
In Christian texts, especially Dante's "Divina Commedia" (the Divine Comedy), Purgatory is described as a temporary place for sinners who have changed themselves to purge their souls, before entering Heaven. It is a temporary place. Since it says "one who writes in the note *will not* go to heaven or hell", we can assume that this means that Light will *never* go to either. Since Purgatory is a temporary transition to then enter Heaven, I don't think that Light will be sent there.
Well, actually. Don't mean to sound like a nerd, but purgatory is connected to heaven. Its a safety net. you wont fall into hell, but as a soul, you have to work towards even again, by facing you're sentence. Its like prison and for whatever how long you're sentence to, you'll eventually get to heaven.
Ok ok… hear me out…. I don’t know if there’s a theory like this out there already but this is all what I think. Again if there is a theory like this out there I’m not taking credit for it. So what if shinagami were really messed up, bad people like Light Yagami. Light had a twisted way of thinking when it came to justice. Near was the only one to call him out on simply being a type of sociopath with the crazy ability to kill those that didn’t fit his “hard working, good person” view. He believed himself as a chosen god and put the “burden” of killing types of criminals upon himself. Even Ryuk said he was a more worthy killer/shinagami than the ones he knew. So what if after he died he was chosen to become a shinagami by some unseen being. The reason I say this is because a shinagamis whole purpose is kind of lost and forgotten, but they know if their life spans run out something might happen to them. So to keep that from happening the keep taking human lives. Also it’s said their is more worlds than just the human world. So they take lives from different places with life there. ( I say this because when Ryuk said he dropped his Death note they asked where, he said the Human world, implying there are other worlds out there that they can take life from.) So there is a shinagami named Gealous. (I think that how you spell his name) He falls in love with a human girl and instead of killing he watches this human girl day by day until her time is supposed to run out. Once it’s her last day on earth he prevents her from dying by doing the opposite of just taking peoples lives for no reason and takes the life of someone to save another, the one Gealous loves, Misa. In doing so it cause him to turn into neither ash or rust and dies. So what if a shinagami is a bad person paying for their sins as a immortal being with no real purpose. In order to move on to the next life they must do an unselfish deed and doing so allows them to pass on from the shinagami world…. Hope that makes sense and you let this theory sink in….
At the end of relight 2 Ryuk says "But you weren't a god, at least not then Light" as he finishes his story to the unknown Shinigami and looks up to see that he'd walked off. Additionally in the series Ryuk tells Light that a human who has used the Deathnote can't go to heaven or hell he goes to "nothing" and at another point he refers to the Shinigami realm as "Mu" or Nothingness. So yes it is 100% canon that Deathnote wielders become Shinigami when they die.
Ryuk mentioned he didnt care about light, he didnt care what happened he just wanted to see some exitment, hence why he was willing to kill light without remorse, rem loved misa, ryuk couldnt give a shit..
Yes you are correct, since he told light after showing himself, that he was bored and wanted entertainment. So he unpurpassly dropped the death note hoping some human would entertain him.
The way the shinigami walks is how Light did after he died, if you guys noticed, when Light was laughing in the scene he got caught in, his eyes were RED. And as we know, their eyes are special in a way to see lifespans. Maybe that was a clue to Light becoming a god of death. It would also explain why the population is so low bc there aren’t many death note users. And the king of shinigami, that could possibly be the og god, meaning that either the king killed the most ppl, or he just appeared like Zeus or Hades. The king might have dropped a death note and started this whole thing. Light goes to neither heaven or hell, only in the middle. Hell is for bad ppl, heaven is for the good. But a person who’s killed people? You’d think they’d go to hell, so why didn’t death note users go to hell too? I believe it is because, We know Light lost his memories and gained them back. During that duration, he acted normal, he had no god complex or anything. You’d think as he got older, he became more ‘godly’ and started thinking of himself as a higher being if that behavior was truly in his blood. I think Kira is a curse placed on Light, that will forever sentence him to a place of nothing. And him having the willpower to kill someone? Over 280,000 people? Yeah, you’d go to hell. But Light won’t, maybe something of the death note is keeping him from going to hell. Ryuk mentioned that Light makes a really good shinigami, was he implying that he’d become one? It’s possible that the king of shinigamis had only chosen a few people to turn into shinigamis, maybe the ones who used the death note once or twice were sent to literally darkness, nothing. But light had potential to be a god of death, and now he is. They are called gods of death for a reason, Light’s killed over 200k ppl and I would def make him a god of death. I doubt the king has ever killed that many. Ppl with death notes and ppl who are genuinely not scared to kill or worried of their actions, are probably the shinigami. It seems Light and Ryuk are a little similar, they both enjoy death, Ryuk’s complimented Light on his killing and applauded him. But Ryuk is more.. sadistic? Light begged for help when he would die, Ryuk would probably laugh about death. Light’s the type to stab you in the back but ask you for help when he’s at his worst. Light became a shinigami and I have no doubt about it.
I was thinking the same thing, if Light became a God of Death and had his human memories he most certainly would kill Near and Matsuda and adding their life spans onto his own. There is still so much potential in the Death Note Universe.
@@x1heisenberg427 and then near would use the rule where if u kill someone to protect or save another human the Shinigami dies to prevent light from killing him (I'm not sure if it can be used this way so its just a guess)
That means he would have no opposition as Kira. Not only is he unable to die (bar very few exceptions) but he is literally in another realm. Should he decide to keep his role as the god of the new world, no one would be able to find him.
In the anime Death Parade, in which dead humans undergo a test to see if they will go to heaven or hell, there is a brief glimpse of a test where one of the humans looks like Light. Death Parade never showed an option for the dead humans other than heaven or hell, but it didn't rule it out either.
I've considered it canon for so long cause it fits soooo well. Both Rem & Ryuk already called him a shinigami/past a shinigami and it fits beautifully with the no heaven or hell thing. Plus it gives people who had a good idea for the death note, not just psychos, a chance to be actual gods of death that surpassed humanity.
U know, some part of me believes that Light planned this. It seemed very weird to see Light actually defeated at the end. This makes perfect sense though
You're missing the point of the story. The point was to show Light is just a human. He's not above everyone else. To see him die such a pathetic death was to show that he's no god
Its complicated but originally Ryuk went blind coz the shinigami king gave him punishment for breaking rules of shinigami realm. He was punished as he allowed Minoru Tanaka (the new kira or the A kira) to make death note public and allowed him toh sell it (Minoru was later killed by ryuk). So at the end of original death note after few years Light Yagami (the original Kira) was now converted into a shinigami in the Shinigami realm (as a death note user cannot go to heaven nor to hell) and started searching famous shinigami who spent most time on earth without getting bored (Ryuk) and eventually meet that shinigami who was Ryuk but blinded by shinigami king Ryuk was unable to recognize Light, Ryuk started telling him light's story. Since light knew his own story and its end where he had lost and died so he already left from there after throwing an apple at Ryuk just like old times. Ryuk recognized him then when he threw the apple the same way Light used to and finally mocked him taunted him by saying "you were never a god" but before listening this light has already left and now he wanted to visit earth again but this time not as a aod or a human but as a shiniaami and this is where started searching famous shinigami who spent most time on earth without getting bored (Ryuk) and eventually meet that shinigami who was Ryuk but blinded by shinigami king Ryuk was unable to recognize Light, Ryuk started telling him light's story. Since light knew his own story and its end where he had lost and died so he already left from there after throwing an apple at Ryuk just like old times. Ryuk recognized him then when he threw the apple the same way Light used to and finally mocked him ,taunted him by saying "you were never a god" but before listening this light has already left and now he wanted to visit earth again but this time not as a god or a human but as a shinigami and this is where death note actually ended
This is a really good theory in the series we see the gods of death not understand the death note to its fullest which will make sense if they were human beforehand as humans they would be the same as light in the beginning not knowing much about the notebook only thanks to ryuk he knew more about it
I think even regardless, it’s appropriate for Light to reincarnate into a shingami. I think past users of the deathnote never took it to lengths as far as Light did. Otherwise the series would’ve been pretty short.
after light wanted ryuk to take his side, ryuk knew that there was no longer any entertainment to be had in light as light thought that ryuk would help him or act as support, when in reality, ryuk never would have came out from his role as a spectator if light didn’t die here
However the manga explains that rule in great detail. So in death note, all humans regardless of having a death note or not don't have a afterlife. They just become mu. Which means none existent.
@@matteomarku7177 Actually, the events of Death Note are heavily implied to be happening during Death Parade. Surprisingly large amounts of people dying is mentioned by multiple characters. Plus it's been confirmed that there isn't really an afterlife in Death Note, just a void. Which is exactly what Death Parade shows. You either reincarnate or are cast to the void.
@@michaelcarlton1484 It would be cool but unfortunately impossible to be the Light from DN (there could absolutely be a Light in Death parade it just can't be the same one) there's a rule in DN about any human that dies both immediately goes to Mu and that there is no way of coming back to life.

@@llVIU ryuks the most psycho, the rest are basically just regular dudes who gotta kill someone once a century instead of go to work on Monday P much why Ryuk said light is already a better god of death than any of them
That shinigami is definitely Light.. the similitudes between them are so much specific, and another big evidence are the eyeglasses weared by the shinigami, and they are a clear reference to the fact that Light never did the Eye Swap with Ryuk to gain the shinigami's eyes...and thats just one of the several clues
He probably wouldn't, since now he has to be part of fate. And going against fate would end his second chance of "living" Thats what happened to the 2 shinigamis with Lisa. The love they had for Lisa made them blind and go against fate itself
Yeah, In the Guidelines of the Death Note it is noted that "Who ever uses the death note by writing a name would not go to the hell nor heaven after their death" So he must have gone to the shinigami world
I also thought what if the shinigamis are the people who used the death note but i didn't thought that it was possible because i forgot about the shinigami's population being low. Also i sometimes think what if there's a plot twist ant that is ryuk is the shinigami king.
If those who write in the death Note don't go to heaven or hell then that means that there is a lot of people from the show that got turned into shinigamis. Like Ray pember, or his college girlfriend, the guy that did the hostage trade, the mob guy, and the fan that got the death note. Man light really did a number.
I think all the Shinigami were previously a death note owner and each of them are from different periods, one seems to be an Aztec warrior the other a golden skull of medieval times, Ryuk has ear piercings and he seems goth so he shouldn't have been on the Shinigami realm for a long time, he was the previous owner so he probably was alive during the 60s to 90s. And if that's Light of course he has a suit because he always dressed in a way that made him look intelligent. I think the creator of Death note has said that that Shinigami isn't Light but of course he isn't Light was his past life now he is just another Shinigami but still he also knew that Ryuk loved apples maybe the other Shinigami told them that but I like to think that the Shinigami knew that already maybe he doesn't remember why he knows that Ryuk loves apples but maybe he remembers Him pretty well and for that reason he asks Ryuk to know the full story of Light Yagami because he wants to remember how he was on his past life.
A lot of y’all seem to have selective listening when it comes to the rules of the death note Yes it does say the the user of a death note cannot go to heaven or hell, but what you neglect is another rule that says when they die they go to “MU” or nothingness, they don’t go to purgatory, they just stop existing Becoming a shinigami is definitely not nothingness because the shinigami world has a whole bunch of something in it Side note: ryuk also says in the manga that death is equal and all humans go to the same place: nothingness, regardless of death note use, ergo death note users can’t be shinigami
I like the theory that Light was punished by having to experience death in the same way as every name that he wrote in the book 1000 times until he became a shinigami. It really makes sense when you think about why none of the shinigami want to write names
Yea i guess since its non canon its okay to give fans some fanservice and satisfaction. Kinda like code geass r3 where lelouch was alive. And shirley was alive and cornelia let euphys death go to help lelouch
My theory is that, if Light became a shinigami it must've been for acquiring a death not of his own that does not belong to another shinigami. That is Rem's death note. When she died he was the first to get a hold of the death note, making him the legitimate owner. Unlike the other ones that belonged to shinigami that were very much alive.
You know haven’t you noticed lights last name yagami the ending of his last name spells out gami if you cut out the “ya” part it’s almost like his name was suppost to foreshadow the word shini-gami
if you guys wanted to find out what happened to light yagami, you could find the answer in an anime called : death parade, there’s a scene where you can find light cameo
I think that Death Note was narrated by Ryuk and he was telling Light Yagami's story like he's a hero to them... that's why we see this shot of this unnamed shinigami that's walking up the steps reflecting his final moments on that staircase. We can all pretty much assume that Light was NOT in fact, the shinigami walking, but a different shinigami that we may see later on when the Production team decides to continue Death Note with this Shinigami being the one in the next sequel. My heart is set on there being more to death note as there's so many plot holes and twists that weren't addressed in the main series. Plus, I really love this suspenseful feeling I get when I'm thinking light yagami will be figured out throughout the series only for there to be more and more juicy storytelling going on ❤😊
I think that there's a certain point on where people who use the death note become shinigamis. I mean there's a specific number goal that makes the persons soul into shinigami. Direct and indirect, light killed people. He killed thousands using the notebook and using the guy with glasses at the end would make him indirectly responsible as he's the one who's giving the go ahead to kill the people. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy with glasses was also turned into a shinigami as he wrote a full page every day for a year or few months. That would match or be second to lights body count.
In the death note it claims that the first person to own/ touch the death note will have ownership but only after the death note has touched the human realm and when that owner dies the shinigami must write the name of them and one of the rules are claimed that once the owner of a death note dies they will go to a place called nothingness since also another rule is Using the death note the owner shall neither go to heaven nor hell.
The manga semi-hints to this, with there being a single shot of the shinigami world (and I think smth entering it) after Light dies, and a cult that still worships Kira, hinting he may still be killing criminals, maybe more discreetly, idk.
@@呪怨黒い兜 if he do, he would have the Shinigami King love at least 1 human, and make the King tribute himself to save the person, otherwise, the King would not detronize by himself.
I used to believe this for a couple of days, but in one of the scenes where it shows a "How to use it" it does say that death note users go to absolute nothingness when they die. Even the shinigami realm is SOMETHING, despite its rot.
If everyone who ever used the deathnote became a shinigami, id like to see a spin off where we see a raye penbur shinigami trying to track down the Light Shinigami by either teaming up with or defeating Mikami shinigami, takada, shinigami, mello shinigami, and higuchi shinigami
Ryuk’s former life as a human is interesting. Ryuk sought entertainment more than anything. Though I can imagine him being caught Ryuk could have had the entertainment of being chased by a detective. With death note users becoming paranoid it’d be cool to see
People say that light didn't have glasses but maybe the goggles cover his eyes since he doesn't have the shinigami's eyes. Maybe it helps him see the lifespans or names as a replacement?

I saw a post talking about the theory that light turn into a shinigami a very long time ago. And on that post, they said some thing that convinced me that the theory was true. Basically the post said that
Thematically for the story it makes total sense for him to become a shinigami.
Writer confirmed there is no heaven or hell that's just Ryuk explaining to Light that when he dies it will be nothingness.
This concept actually alines with general idea behind the whole series - the most valuable thing at life is a game, the only ones happy in this world are those who escape boredom and routine, especially knowing that after life there is nothing.

Dont forget that shinigami will also die if their "lifespan" run out because they didnt kill any human for too long.
That isn't how it works. The anime didn't fully explain that rule. The truth is that heaven and hell don't exist in the world of death note. When a human dies they go to mu aka nothingness. Nothing exists beyond death.
In the death note universe all humans go to mu after death which is basically just nothingness
I’m basically trying to say in death note there is no life after death
Yknow what would be an absolutely amazing sequel. It would also be absolutely difficult to write but light shinigami slowly regaining his memories and eventually coming into conflict with other shinigami as well as eventually the shinigami king.
Why? They can't die unless they help humans. What's he gonna do? Talk the guy's ear off?

@Lee Jet or the concept of eternal annihilation is a bit much, even for a psychopath like light
@Lee Jet :3
Forever stuck in the void in between
Light didn't die he became death itself(shinagami)

The fact that anyone who uses it won't go to heaven or hell
The fact that when Light asks what will happen to him, he says he'll find out
The Shinigami throw the apple to Ryuk the same way Light does
The fact that the Shinigami is seemingly lacking eyes as a reference to Light never making the deal with Ryuk for the eyes
The fact that we see so many Shinigamis but they bring in a completely new one for just the OVA
The fact that the Shinigami leaves before Ryuk finishes the story as if he already knew the end
The OVA ending with Ryuk indirectly talking to Light and then the next scene moves to this unnamed Shinigami just walking
what’s more insane is that the Simpsons parody pays homage to this by turning Lisa into a shinigami
So that's his perfect victory
This might not be Light, do you all remember Mello's friend who died after Kira's bodygaurd's shot him in the public? The Shinigami's clothes are the same as Mello's friend. So chances are this might not be Light at all, it might be Matt. The glasses that the Shinigami was wearing appears to be the same as Matt, so this might be him.
no it wouldn’t make sense for random people to be reincarnated as a shinigami
@@gaopinghu7332 well the show, what I’m referencing says what I said. 🤷 if we are going of something religious I could bring up a few fun ones
@@igle1 hmm... But how and why do they go to heaven.
@@gaopinghu7332 yes you perfectly explained better than me
I'd love to see light come back to earth as a shinigami
Thats such a cool theory omg
Light will be a shinigami for the rest of the eternity
At the end of relight 2 Ryuk says "But you weren't a god, at least not then Light" as he finishes his story to the unknown Shinigami and looks up to see that he'd walked off.
Additionally in the series Ryuk tells Light that a human who has used the Deathnote can't go to heaven or hell he goes to "nothing" and at another point he refers to the Shinigami realm as "Mu" or Nothingness. So yes it is 100% canon that Deathnote wielders become Shinigami when they die.
Forgot to mention he gave Ryuk an apple after asking him to tell his story. He knew Ryuk loves apples.
Light would go back to earth and kill near lmao
That, or he just learned his lesson, and taken the responsibility as shinigami, because he gotten the second chance of "living"
I was thinking the same thing, if Light became a God of Death and had his human memories he most certainly would kill Near and Matsuda and adding their life spans onto his own.
There is still so much potential in the Death Note Universe.

In the Japanese live action L used the death note and i find it interesting that he could have also become a Shinigami in that version of the story
It's a cool theory, however, it's unfortunately wrong. All humans in deathnote don't go to an afterlife they just become nothingness.
He walks the same way light did before his death
Ryuk says in death note that humans who use the death note face a fate far worse than death and that could mean turning into a shimigami
U know, some part of me believes that Light planned this. It seemed very weird to see Light actually defeated at the end. This makes perfect sense though
You're missing the point of the story. The point was to show Light is just a human. He's not above everyone else. To see him die such a pathetic death was to show that he's no god
It would give everyone chills if light (as shinigami) starts the sequel
That means light's dad is also in the shinigami world. It would be interesting to see how weilded that power

I'm glad to see that Light in the end wins. If we could only get more series if Deathnote but sadly that won't happen.
Light tryna play 5d chess and get his memories back💀
after light wanted ryuk to take his side, ryuk knew that there was no longer any entertainment to be had in light as light thought that ryuk would help him or act as support, when in reality, ryuk never would have came out from his role as a spectator if light didn’t die here
Ryuk did tell Light he now had something to look forward to after he dies in Episode 1.
It does say in the Death Note book, that users of the Death Note don't go to heaven or hell.
However the manga explains that rule in great detail. So in death note, all humans regardless of having a death note or not don't have a afterlife. They just become mu. Which means none existent.

Yeah, In the Guidelines of the Death Note it is noted that "Who ever uses the death note by writing a name would not go to the hell nor heaven after their death" So he must have gone to the shinigami world
That totally makes sense coz it is also said that the person who uses the death note won't enter hell or heaven so only one place is left 😳😳
A lot of y’all seem to have selective listening when it comes to the rules of the death note
Yes it does say the the user of a death note cannot go to heaven or hell, but what you neglect is another rule that says when they die they go to “MU” or nothingness, they don’t go to purgatory, they just stop existing
Becoming a shinigami is definitely not nothingness because the shinigami world has a whole bunch of something in it
Side note: ryuk also says in the manga that death is equal and all humans go to the same place: nothingness, regardless of death note use, ergo death note users can’t be shinigami
Now that i think about it L's name was written on Rems death note too, it would be facinating to see both light and L reunite in the shinigami realm
I like the theory that Light was punished by having to experience death in the same way as every name that he wrote in the book 1000 times until he became a shinigami. It really makes sense when you think about why none of the shinigami want to write names
I’m pretty sure at the end of the OVA the other Shinigami leaves before Ryuk finished the story and Ryuk even calls him Light
Yea i guess since its non canon its okay to give fans some fanservice and satisfaction. Kinda like code geass r3 where lelouch was alive. And shirley was alive and cornelia let euphys death go to help lelouch
bro became yagami to shinigami😂😂😂
Tbf i could see maybe two reasons why it be possible in the very least, its because of the fact of what the shinigami told light from the start.
My theory is that, if Light became a shinigami it must've been for acquiring a death not of his own that does not belong to another shinigami. That is Rem's death note. When she died he was the first to get a hold of the death note, making him the legitimate owner. Unlike the other ones that belonged to shinigami that were very much alive.
even if its not canon it makes since. a person who uses a death note doesnt go to heavon or hell.
In the death note rules it has been written that the person who used a death note will not go to heaven nor hell.
You know haven’t you noticed lights last name yagami the ending of his last name spells out gami if you cut out the “ya” part it’s almost like his name was suppost to foreshadow the word shini-gami
Ohhhhh shiiiii 🤯🤯🤯
If that theory is true then L might too be a shinigami
if you guys wanted to find out what happened to light yagami, you could find the answer in an anime called : death parade, there’s a scene where you can find light cameo
Plus, I really love this suspenseful feeling I get when I'm thinking light yagami will be figured out throughout the series only for there to be more and more juicy storytelling going on ❤😊
he walks like light yagami tho
And there is another detail that is only light knows that Ryuk like apple
Well then Light reached his goal
They need to make Death note a franchise like Star wars. It’s still one of the best manga I’ve ever seen.
So we not going to talk about that absolutely amazing intro 😂 was heat🔥🔥
And we can see that in death parade
Light's lifespan as shinigami would be forever since he would kill half of the world population 😂
If That Shinigami found out his past live was Light Yagami then... 💀
The manga semi-hints to this, with there being a single shot of the shinigami world (and I think smth entering it) after Light dies, and a cult that still worships Kira, hinting he may still be killing criminals, maybe more discreetly, idk.
That means he is the god of the new world! Meaning he can still create the PERFECT WORLD!
I've never been so happy before
Welp, in that case he should face The shinigami's king
@@呪怨黒い兜 if he do, he would have the Shinigami King love at least 1 human, and make the King tribute himself to save the person, otherwise, the King would not detronize by himself.
I used to believe this for a couple of days, but in one of the scenes where it shows a "How to use it" it does say that death note users go to absolute nothingness when they die. Even the shinigami realm is SOMETHING, despite its rot.
I just herd this theory just now. It would've been so cool, tho! It can be a happy ending for those who like Light Yagami
Maybe it helps him see the lifespans or names as a replacement?
thats what i assumed during the show was that "neither heaven or hell" meant the shinigami world
