I will literally never forgive D&D for the absolute butchery that occurred with this show. The most watched and talked about series on earth, and they fucked it off a cliff.
I grew up in king's landing. One of the best comeback ever. I miss the character of Maester Aemon, I am feel privileged to see the this excellent actor peter vaughn and witness the last and one of his best performances.
It's a really great fantasy faction. Well designed. Great lore. I've always questioned something being able to exist for so many years though. What, like 8,000 years? But the seasons and technology are weird in SOIF.
He kept his promise, he served nights watch till he died. And when je comes back from death, he became the king in the north and got to know his real identity. A dragon raised by wolves🔥
the way you put different scenes together is awesome. when samwell tarley says he wants to be a wizard, then when gilly tells him hes like a wizard a few scenes later. thats something that never caught my eye! you're very good at this and honestly its made me want to rewatch GoT for a fourth time lol. well done dude for real.
The Night's Watch, the Wildlings, the White Walkers and everything else north of Winterfell was more interesting to me than just about everything in King's Landing. They could have been two completely diffetent shows within the same universe.
Sam really should have lost weight as the series progressed. Going from a lord in the Reach to a brother of Knight's Watch. Put it in the dude's contract or something and win win.
For real man. They had a golden opportunity to make one of the best character archs of all time but failed miserably. I wanted to see him become a badass. Which would have inspired them all in the Battle of the White Walkers. Shit he could have been the one to kill the Night King and that would've been cool as hell. There are a lot of other characters with great archs too tho like Arya, Jaime, Daënerys, The Hound, Sansa, and like 50 others I could name. Now that I think about it pretty much everyone but the background actors have pretty significant archs. Except Sam. Lol
While I partially agree I also feel perhaps they didn't want to insist a character is made better or evolves in their arc simply by the trope of "getting buff" etc. Sam was never to be the dashing hero riding into battle or the heartthrob we swoon over. He was the friend everybody wishes they had at their side, an innocent intellectual with moral integrity underneath a nervous exterior with keen insight that doesn't require a sword in hand. I've admittedly not read the books so I've no clue how Sam is depicted in them, but ultimately I wouldn't have Sam any other way.

Barring the practicality that a man that size would absolutely lose mass, there should have been a hardening of his character. I think this trope was done better with Armin in AOT. Smart, analytical, savvy. With the fat of youth and hope slowly cut off of him. But GRRM is a lazy fatarse so...
I picture him dressed up in his nights watch uniform on his way to the studio and stopping for a couple big macs with a large fry before filming. But he orders with all the same mannerisms as Sam Tarly. His awkwardness and everything.
My favorite parts were always about the North, be it Winterfell or beyond the Wall. Best battles too, with Watchers on the Wall and Hardhome. Still loves Kings Landing and Dani in Essos parts, well sometimes. But the North story line , was just more compelling. Mostly due to the Walkers, Night's watch, Bran's adventures, the Wildings and of course, John Snow. When he's on screen is the best
