    Possibly the most sensitive interpretation I've ever heard on the guitar simply brilliant.

    My favorite rendition--ever! Long ago, I danced as part of Wilson Morelli's choreography of Debussy's masterpiece, at the Greek Theatre, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Your playing is how my body felt Debussy's music. I wish Debussy could hear you, Mr. Cyprien.

      Thank you for this nice words. I think that many composers would have been glad to have discover guitar during their living. Debussy would have wrote wonderfull pieces for guitar.

    Such an outstanding performance.
    As someone who plays classical guitar, I can really appreciate the use of the sound hole and harmonics in this interpretation and I absolutely loved the rich tone of that guitar. I have a version of this piece that I am going to attempt to play but I think the required barring and stretching is going to kill me 😋

    I have the parenting scores for this but never went through. Reading music for guitar is more difficult than Chinese algebra. I’m so impressed by Segovia or Julian bream teaching from them or following along. They have to have IQ’s in the 150+.

      Hello Phil, Thanks for our comment. This video and his speech at the beginning are part of a longer concert video, where Cyprien played several unknown pieces. 😊 That's why it may be a little bit confusing.

      Haha, ya i was just busting your chops, I saw his concert video you guys released earlier and he def played a few pieces I never even heard of before , the intro was just funny for this single. But in all seriousness, you guys put out the best classical guitar content Ive ever found, the musicians, guitars, and recordings are absolutely top quality. Thanks so much for all of it.

    Does anyone know whether or not this is standard tuning?

    • @SiccasGuitars
      @SiccasGuitars  2 года назад +4

      Hello Tom, This is not the standard tuning of the piece. Cyprien has tuned the guitar a half tone lower to have more depth.

    Hey, I really love your playing and the compositions you chose. Great, but I don't know if is my ears, but wasn't the guitar slightly out of tune? For some reason, the harmonics plucked in the 1st string on Claire de Lune sounded odd to me. Please don't take this personal, even tough maybe is just my ears. Anyway, I found helpful to let you know my impression. Congrats for your playing.

    • @christopherstanford5599
      @christopherstanford5599 2 года назад

      I've had so many guitars, classical and some steel string acoustic, with "intonation" issues. I use extra hard tension strings on classicals and must file the string to saddle contact point back to slightly lengthen the nodal point in order to reduce sharps higher up the fret, but of course this will influence "non-fretted" harmonics which don't stretch the string. This is an ever ending battle for tonal compromise. I even use top oversized (4mm) saddles in 2mm saddle slots in order to accommodate my virtual string lengthening. My next guitar will be a Kenny Hill "true temperament"🎶🤣

    • @rifosi
      @rifosi 2 года назад

      @@christopherstanford5599 , that’s right, this can happen. Some builders compensate in the nut along with the saddle; some even relocate some frets to get a better compromise. Sometimes an easier workaround is to slightly detune the guitar depending on the piece being played and compensate that with more or less finger pressure. A very well known case is James Taylor’s tuning. As you said, is always a matter of compromise, but in this case, I don’t know, just sounded way offset to me. Did you get the same impression?

    • @JoachimVHW
      @JoachimVHW 2 года назад +1

      Yeah out of tune to my ear too

    • @TalentedDilittante
      @TalentedDilittante 2 года назад +1

      Dear Mr Fonseca, in a similar spirit of respect, I timidly and respectfully point you to the whole history of "commas" in musical intonation: If a guitar is tuned by absolute pitch, then chords play out of tune. If you suppress the guitar's third string, the G, to make C-related compositions play "in-tune," then A-related compositions play out-of-tune- We can only get "close" to playing in tune on the guitar (such fixed-tuning as we find on the pianoforte, is called "well-tempered" or averaged-out tempering, so that all keys are placed close to being in tune. . . . That's one of the major reasons why guitarists re-tune their instrument when going from the key of one composition to a piece which is in another, distinct key. (to understand, you might start on GGG, the Great God Google, by looking up "COMMA" references, including Wikipedia.

    • @rifosi
      @rifosi 2 года назад +1

      @@TalentedDilittante yep, you are absolutely right. There is no way to get a instrument like a guitar perfectly in tune in all keys at the same time, but you can tune slightly “offtune” depending on the dominant chord and the intervals that once played will be “over the sound”. But it’s always a matter of compromise, you’re right.
