- At a fan club-only gig in London (12 July 1993), Brett takes a break while Siouxsie Sioux and Martin McCarrick of Siouxsie and the Banshees join the band for a cover of Lou Reed's "Caroline Says II"
Going to a Suede concert and getting the surprise of having Siouxsie Sioux cover a Lou Reed song, sounds like the perfect combination to me.
These kind of things make you realise how lucky we are to have RUclips
Yes yes yes 🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
Yes indeed !
Sioux, Smith, Bush, Morrissey, Curtis, Anderson...where are the artists with serious artistic weight today? I mean, I like a lot of current artists but they aren't exactly breaking new ground or burrowing into my soul to help me with emotional issues.
emotional pop music is out of fashion right now
Give Norwegian singer Aurora a try. ...
@@dynamite3690 Just listened to her on your recommendation and she gets a big thumbs up from me. I hear kind of a mix of Feist and Kate Bush in there. Thanks for the tip!
Siouxsie Sioux is always amazing! A true rock goddess.
She sure is 🙏💜
Nobody does covers better than Siouxsie. Spectacular!
Based on this, I'm all for hearing nobody instead.
jackal59 this is not the best yes, check out The Passenger, Dear Prudence, Hall of Mirrors, to name a few.
Stage presence and concerts were an event you traveled to. She was the coolest person in the 80’s .
woooooow....but of course she NAILS it. i didn't think it could be done better. but siouxsie is perfection. THANK U to whoever recorded it as well as whoever posted it here. without u, she was just ...pissing in a river. ;) now, if we could only see her cover simple twist of fate (johnette's, natch) for all eternity, likewise, i think i could die peacefully.
what an unbelievably beautiful song from a Masterpiece amongst the masterpieces. Berlin...
Siouxsie's personality is so English. Yet she can cover a Lou Reed song, who was a quintessential Long Islander.
And THAT is how you cover a song. Superb
Otherworldly cover... at 4.13, when Sue quotes ''she put her fist through the windowpane'', why would she be moving her fingers like that? It's the sound of shattering glass, tiny little crystal smithereens flying, suggested on the original by windchimes. Besides being a Rock goddess, she's a Rock encyclopaedia too, hardly missing a detail. I was lucky to see the Banshees that year, closing on their professional apex.
"You can hit me all you want to but I don't love you anymore..."
ITALIAN VERSION:: ALASKA- SINGER PATTY PRAVO--- GREAT SUEDE---- I PREFER THIS VERSION......❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The video projections are taken from Derek Jarman's Last of England. Great discovery for me!
She was quite beautiful.
I was so excited when I came across this while looking for the original, as I love Suede and S & Bs, how lucky! I thought it was good, inevitably suffers from the fact that Lou Reed's original is so understated, which I think makes it very powerful; his phrasing is beautiful and fragile, but there was one bit which really stood out in this performance, where Siouxsie sings "this is a bum trip", the fury within just lets rip; that bit was worth the whole song.
Martin McCarrick. Best known as a cellist, he played various instruments (primarily keyboards, I think) for Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1987 until the break-up in 1996.
Siouxsie at its best!
Here guys, a fantastic band from Dublin called Whipping Boy absolutely smash this song ...........also listen to their 2nd album Heartworm...........you can all thank me later
Siouxie Sioux - punk rock icon and Berlin what a great album.
No. Punk rock icon is Nina Hagen. Siouxsie is gothic rock and alternative rock icon.
Brilliant album. "BERLIN" by Lou Reed (just so the younger ones don't forget).
Angel Sioux
en tiempos de depresion caroline says me hace llorar
this is fantastic i have never heard siouxsie sing this before after seeing her loads of times in the 80s,she so beautiful im pleased i named my daughter after her.......................
Unbelievable. Absolutely superb. Siouxsies voice is unique.
She has truth in her being,
I'm 14, and I'll never forget Berlin, don't worry. :D
Die geilste Frau im Pop ever!Vom Gruftie zur ernst zu nehmenden Singering !
Stephanie Says is on the velvet's VU album, Caroline Says is on Lou Reed's Berlin album.
Siouxsie Sioux I will always love you!
@FranklyMisterShankly This is Bernard. The dates match up to his time in Suede, and you can just tell from the playing style.
pretty stupid thing to envy about siouxsie
I agree Siouxsie is amazing! So happy to say I have seen her in concert 3 times.
What a magical moment... Thanks for capturing it!
siouxsie is so beautiful i love her expressions
I don't think Jon Klein made it to the end either; I seem to remember Knox Chandler as their guitarist on the 1995 Rapture tour.
lou and Siouxsie - what a marriage!!@
Nope, she´s more into John Cale!
Absolutely fantastic!
I was there, a day day b4 my bday, what a night, thanks to my Dad..love ya x
Unica !!!
RIP Lou you wrote a fantastic song!
AWESOME!!!
I had this on a crap sounding bootleg CD for ages...
Superb rendition!
I love her
The projection behind Siouxsie is a scene from Derek Jarman's film The Last of England (1987). The woman ripping off her wedding dress (visible only at the very beginning) is Tilda Swinton.
One of a kind!!! Only 1 Siouxsie.
Great Version.
What year is this
Everytime I heard Karen O voice..I don't know why..but always remind me of Siouxsie's...
Exactly. Btw Siouxsie's dance moves in the video for Hongkong Garden probably inspired Karen O's performance or her signature moves.
@@dannyhaobam9858 wharever karen o is quite a coward ; she's ungrateful as she never gave a kudo to siouxsie
..."are you sitting or standing uncomfortably?...then it's about time then"...Haha! Yes Mistress...I remember seeing her when I was in college in Boston, late 80s and during the show someone tried to get on stage, she, in time with the song, took her mic and bonked this person in the head, may have said 'f*** off', and pulled the mic back and continued to sing the next verse. Priceless...I had the flu with probably a 104 degree fever, and by the time I left the concert, I sweated it out.
This is good!
oh my god!!I love you!!Thanx a million for shared this treasure...I had neever watched this video before. But I know this magnificent song and I love Suede and Siouxsie. She made a fantastic interpretation with a great voice. You made my...night!thanx thanx thanx
Oh, I think it must be. He didn't leave until 1994 and was certainly with them the month before this was filmed when I saw them in D.C.
Beautiful..
Martin McCarrick was Siouxsie & the Banshees cellist/keyboardist :) Besides the obvious exceptions of Siouxsie, Steven Severin and Budgie, he was the longest-lasting member of Siouxsie & the Banshees.
you bet !
YES!!!
just saw this comment from 13 years ago, are you still listening to this ?
Does anyone know where i can find the full or longer version video of this concert? I loved how Suede played She's Not Dead in this concert:P
any help would be appreciated!!
Oh God ! Siouxsie and Suede singing together in a fan club. What a great idea.
Scythrop you are lovely I won't forget you.
Thanks a lot !
playful animosity (hopefully) before and after the song from two of the most shining british stars.
I could listen to her sing the phone book ❤ Siouxsie!
Stephany says bij Velvet is a bit similar but altogether a different song.
The song is Caroline Say II, people.
See my version as a tribute, under Joris Peeters Caroline says II.
Great song RIP Lou.
That woman is amazing! Amazing! everything about her is fab! Siouxsie rules!
She's not afraid to die.... Berlin is such a great album.

Absolutely superb. I am an ardent Siouxsie fan and have never seen this or heard her sing it. I agree with the previous comment - Beautiful. Thanks
still think the best cover of this was done by Human Drama on their "Pin Ups" album.. check it out.
I don't think so, sorry... :(
Great see through top. Thanx Sioux. Besos.
She doesn't need to wear a bra even at 50 I envy her so much.
