The genius of Alan Wilder and old Depeche production led me to discover new beautiful parts in the ending that I had not noticed before. 30 years later.
There is a very powerful energy in this thing, after all, these guys were the best and this is evident after years - no one has created anything like this.
I agree- they lost their sound after Alan left - newer DM sounds so flat with no climax or dimension , Martin and Dave still sound good but the music in the background always sounds like some crappy demo - it was perfect at this point when Alan was doing the production.

At the same time over the years they came up with songs that were not on an album and that turned out to be gems such as 'Now this is fun', 'Get the balance right', 'But not tonight', 'Agent Orange' and this one. And it was always nice to discover them (mostly on b-sides).
Such a sublime b-side track. Could easily have fitted in on SOFAD (and dare I say it, perhaps even have replaced 'Get Right With Me'). In any case, it's a beauty! On a side note: I haven't seen all their videos, so I don't know where the footage is from - however, that Dave fella is such a handsome bloke. Sleep well, Fletch.
You’re right, My Joy should have been an album track on SOFAD. The song is so good they could have removed Judas and Get Right With Me off the album and put My Joy after Walking In My Shoes or In Your Room and had a 9 song album and that album probably would have been better or just as good as Violator.
If i am right this one is part of the Exciter tour projections but its like watching an official DM clip,many points to the creator! Awesome b-side track and an excellent video as well!

The band considered the ending of the song too weak, so they used it as a b-side. (Source recoil.co.uk) . I think, it´s a great song and arrangement.
