Kind of like Prince and Michael Jackson in the US. They respected each other immensely, but also recognized how different their styles were. Prince was more funk & soul, while MJ was more pop & dance. Prince was spiritual aggressive male passion, while Michael was more storybook gentle boyish love. On top of that, the entire world considers both of them the best at what they do. Too much unwanted and unnecessary pressure.
I imagine that it was the same with Boy George Michael. Back in the 80s? Could you just IMAGINE the ridiculous rumours if those two got together? It would probably eclipse whatever collaboration they could have done together.
“Our egos wouldn’t allow us to be friends.” That’s a perfectly respectable answer, and one that is easily appreciated. I mean, celestially speaking, I wouldn’t want Jupiter and Saturn to get together, either. Best keep them where they are.
"Our egos wouldn't allow us to be friends..."
That was so respectfully honest, and honestly respectful.
No our, only Boy's.
He means *his own* ego
Boy George and George Michael are remarkable singers with wonderful music. I am still so sad George Michael passed away, what an extraordinary voice. Both these singers are nonetheless terrific.
I love George Michael and Boy George. Both of them can sing and they have many hits songs playing on radio and MTV in the 80s, 90s.
I don’t see the comparison! Both George Michael and Boy George made their mark musically.
I love BOTH Boy George and George Michael. I’m an 80s girl!!!!
I’m so glad George made it out of the addiction cycle. He’s such a treasure.
It’s a shame that the two Georges never became true mates and you can tell now that GM is gone, there is sadness in BG’s heart and a bit of regret that they let their rivalry and egos get in the way. Perhaps this is why Boy sings GM’s songs at his concerts now as a way to say that he really loves and misses him. And we all do every day.
It was never a rivalry on George Michael's side; you never ever heard him mention Boy. It was all one sided.
@@charlesdavis545 I am sure it was two sided, GM did have his diva-ish side from time to time but the main difference was that GM kept it mainly to himself whereas BG had no such filter, especially when it came to the British press. GM also tended to be a bit more withdrawn when it came to his celebrity whereas BG couldn’t help but exude his. All that aside, both men are/were much beloved and respected entertainers and will always remain as such.
Boy George is not given the respect he deserves. i know what im on about when it comes to music and he has written BANGERS.
George didn’t wear hats 24/7 . 🤣
Your egos? Yes, that's it.
More like Boy's ego.
Does it get any better than Victims by BG or Everything She Wants by GM? Both are absolute legends with the most soulful voices. 💙💚
He always has seemed to me to be a great guy. Love Culture Club and Boy George was always cool with me.
Just saw Boy George last month, and partway through playing "Church of the Poisoned Mind" he transitioned into Wham's "I'm Your Man." So I certainly think there was always respect there, and clearly still is.
Piers is a phenomenal interviewer. He lets his guests speak. His questions are quite personal, but in an inquisitive way, not a prying "gotcha" way.
@@md61211 Yes, he is. I love Piers. He really is such an intelligent man and funny too.
mediocre @ best. tats y he didn't make it n USA.
@@stumack9755Yes, he did. When Culture Club got to the U.S there were fans waiting for them at the airport and dressed up like him too. They also won a Grammy as best new artist.
@@MsEvie15 i was talking bout Piers.
@@stumack9755 Oh, sorry. I know Piers won on Trumps, Celebrity Apprentice, and I believe he went back to be a judge.
I so love the song victims by culture club. One of my favourite songs EVER!!! I also really like church of the poison mind, the medal song and hello goodbye. Culture club had so many great songs. Take the time to check these out,and more stuff by culture club. Boy George has done so we'll to turn his life around. Give credit where credit is deserved!!!
Look up George singing victims live ❤
Look up George singing victims live ❤
Get real boy, George Michael had a whole career writing and producing music, you had a moment and he had a ERA !!
"A moment"? Boy George and Culture Club had loads of hits around the world.
@shiroibasketshoes They did but nothing compared to George !!
@@rupertbear8274 They had loads more success than "nothing" compared to whomever. Success isn't everything anyway. Artistry and kindness matter a lot in life.
I Love George interesting guy and open and friendly…Thanks for being you GEORGE AXX
George Michael had the better voice
Honest about George Michael and unfortunate. But that's how it goes sometimes...
Boy George must really live a clean lifestyle. The guy looks good for his age.
George Michael was easily the best singer but Boy George was easily the best on the decks ! 🎧🕺💃
Because Boy George is JEALOUS of GM's talent and success.
Musically George Micheal was on a totally different level. Competition? Maybe in Boy George's mind, but not in reality
I’ve always been a big Boy George and Culture Club fan, Boy George came off as happier, more approachable.
Boy George was ahead of his time! and with respect to Boy George, from my memory growing up in the 80's GM's success came after Culture Club had peaked. between the two, it's a no brainer...George Michael all day! both are great, both are legends
boy George was never competition for George Michael, now that's an ego...
He is authentic
He was jealous, plain and simple. He shouldn't have been, he had a lot of talent of his own.
At The Motown 25th show both Georges were something else the way they did duets with some of Motown greats!
Why would you even ask him if he ever doubted he was gay? What a useless question.
Boy George never became friends with lots of people.
Truth.
It makes you feel good to write negative things like that publicly?
@@shiroibasketshoes absolutely, in fact I luxuriate in my occasional forays into caustic wit. I never quite GET there, but the Quest is the thing, isn't it?!
@@warlockofwordschannel7901 I'm sorry about your insecurity that makes you want to post uncompassionate things. I hope you become a happier person.
@@shiroibasketshoes I would remind you that enjoying the odd sarcastic quip is not the cast-iron indicator of insecurity your pop psychology blogs tell you it is. Bon voyage!
Boy George best written song was Victims.
Wish is why George Michael covered it Live brilliantly
I loved them both😊
Seems Boy George never really became friends with other artists in general. Also, Boy George and George Michael were only “battling it out” in his head. There was really no competition on the charts. George Michael was way more successful.
Both different but both brilliant
Boy George comparing himself to George Michael would be like Cliff Richard comparing himself to Elvis
Too bad they didn’t have a chance to work it out on the remix
Boy Geoge --- you had a moment . . . but your name sake had an ERA!
Sorry to burst your bubbl, sweetie!
🎈🏹
"A moment"? Boy George and Culture Club had lots of worldwide hits.
Yeah kid . . . a moment! ⏲️
To this day, Culture Club plays casinos . . . when his namesake was alive he was playing 🏟️, child!
Do you know the difference?!
Let me help you 🏀 boy!
Go see who sold more 💽, and then come back and apologize immediately! 🤐😤😡🤬
George Michael’s voice was like a bell clear and strong.. Boy’ s voice was like soft Cotten. Two sides of a musical coin. Both brilliant.
Both talented. These video titles are always the final 2-3% of the content.
Only one of them was good enough to sing with Queen
No. It was YOUR ego, BG!
Nevet a boy George fan until I saw a clip of him playing piano. Quite impressive. Strange he didn’t incorporate that talent into his music much.
