    So basically hybrid mod off is for gaming, If turned on u can increase battery life but no gaming performance

    Hey mate, while you explain correctly how to turn the mux switch on and off on the legion 5 pro, your explanation of how it works is not completely correct. When you turn off the mux switch, the GPU is directly connected with your display, thus bypassing the CPU and using the full potential of the GPU. Just as you said.
    With the mux switch turned on though, the GPU is still indirectly connected to the display via the CPU as pictured in your left picture. The advantage is that you can (for example) use Nvidia optimus that can then switch between GPU and CPU depending on the program that is currently executed. If optimus detects that you're gaming, it will utilize the GPU and you'll still most likely get a good performance. The bottleneck here is that the GPU-data still has to go through the CPU, which in certain cases might be too slow. In these cases, you can turn off the mux switch and maybe the gained extra performance will be what makes the difference between playable and unplayable.

      This is what I'm confused about bro....
      What i want to know is "Should i play games with the hybrid mode on *OR NOT* ??
      I mean, is the GPU completely disabled when we turn on the mux switch ??

    • @StrangeHairJoe
      @StrangeHairJoe 2 года назад +1

      @@anuragghosh2582 no, when you turn on the mux switch, nvidia optimus will decide whether the integrated Intel graphics chip is enough or whether the nvidia will do the work.
      But even if the dedicated gpu is doing the work, the data has to go through the processor, which will slow down performance a little bit.
      If you want full dedicated gpu power you should turn off the switch. Only then the gpu is directly connected to the display. But of course power consumption will be higher, too, cause the dedicated gpu will be doing all the tasks.

      @@StrangeHairJoe So if i turn on the hybrid mode, it works like other gaming laptops which don't have a mux switch ?

    • @StrangeHairJoe
      @StrangeHairJoe 2 года назад +4

      @@anuragghosh2582 yes, with hybrid mode turned on, it works like any other gaming laptop that does have optimus, but no mux switch.
      There are also (older) gaming laptops out there that don't have optimus, so if you switch between Intel gpu and nvidia gpu on such a machine, your screen flickers for a bit or turns black for a second or two.

      hybrid mode disables the gpu and uses the cpu for processing. So no, dont use hybrid mode if you want performance.

    • @GameBos
      @GameBos  3 года назад +5

      it depends, if you dont have a mux switch an external monitor will be less taxing.
      If you have a mux switch it doesnt make a difference because:
      A mux switch basically seperates the laptop screen from the CPU and thus behaves the same as an external monitor.

    Mux switch is the same as Optimus?

    • @ZizuZiomek
      @ZizuZiomek 2 года назад

      No. In MUX it can turn off iGPU, and connect GPU to display directly. In hybrid mode both GPU can work like in Optimus. In non-hybrid mode, iGPU is turned off, so don't use RAM, don't process displayed images etc, can't be bottleneck.
      In my old laptop I have problem with QHD 144Hz monitor, GTX 660m support up to 4K@60Hz monitor, but Intel HD4000 limit bandwidth to QHD@55Hz.

    • @tiasm919
      @tiasm919 10 месяцев назад

      @@ZizuZiomekcmiiw. Wether your laptop have mux or not, it depends on the hardware design
      If your laptop don't have mux, the dGPU will always pass through iGPU before reaching the display, which can cause bottle neck because iGPU isn't that powerfull to handle all the information received from dGPU
      If you have mux, both iGPU and dGPU are connected to the mux switch, but only 1 can be connected to it at the same time
      Then what is optimus, advance optimus and hybrid mode ?

      try to lock or unlock your fps in games. its because the gpu renders more fps than your monitor refreshrate.
