Cool reaction - thank you for reacting to Jinjer's "Mediator"! Lyrically, I take this song as expressing existential moral outrage at all the shit that goes on in the world & how it can cause us to feel alienated & disconnected. Even though Tatiana is avowedly atheist, she sort of addresses her outrage to god. In the first half of the song, when the video depicts her dressed elegantly in a room, she's telling us that she was once optimistic about the world, seeing it as "an amusement park, rather colourful than dark". She changes costume partway through that section, signifying that she's realizing that the world is darker than she thought when she was younger. She switches to harsh vocals with the lyrics "Firе's burning all around us, And all we feel is cold", which I take to mean that we see the horrors happening around us, but are typically cold to it instead of outraged or moved to action. She changes to a grungier costume & moves into the band's space for the "dirty streets" section, wishing that she could show god what's happening here on earth, lamenting that god doesn't teach her what she should do, instead abandoning her to try to cope with it in whatever way she can...she finds that she has to disconnect herself from it just to cope ("Cold blood is coursing through my veins, 'Cause ice will never burn"). She ends the song wondering what it could mean to be happy & enjoy inner peace in a world like this, & wondering what we have to do to get god's help. Anyway, that's my interpretation. Mediator Stop! Go! Go on! My wish would be To see this sun shining To hear these birds singing Children laughing, hearts recovering My dream has always been Life has always seemed To be an amusement park Rather colourful than dark I wanted a loser to win The thin never starving The full not keeping it down And needing nothing from no one I wanted the poor to live in abundance I wanted the rich to have someone Except for himself To love and take care of I wanted a loser to win The thin never starving The full not keeping it down And needing nothing from now on Firе's burning all around us And all we feel is cold I want a neighbour, not a hater And a hеad to go round From white, white snow But what to do now? Wish I could catch god by the beard And drag him to the dirty streets To show him what was going on The kind of curse we've waged upon We're half way through to freedom The path is treacherous The best way to make a kettle boil Is to turn your back on this You've stranded me with no decree No lessons given, only learned Cold blood is coursing through my veins 'Cause ice will never burn What is happiness? What is inner peace? What do we have to do To get a piece of you?
i've never seen anyone from the band talk about this song/video ; but here's my take on the wardrobe change: the song is basically about wanting a bright happy world , but then butting up against the harsh realities of suffering (aka, a typical "why does the world have to suck?" sort of thing). and the wardrobes sort of contrasting these 2 worlds. also note the change in body language across the wardrobe changes. to wit, compare these 2 verses: _My wish would be_ _To see this sun shining_ _To hear these birds singing_ _Children laughing, hearts recovering_ vs _Wish I could catch God by the beard_ _And drag him to the dirty streets_ _To show him what was going on_ _The kind of curse we've waged upon_
I believe the costume change is reflecting hopeful Tatiana in blue, singing about the world she wants to live in and the more cynical Tatiana in black, singing about how it is. I'd like to remind you that there is an excellent live Drum-cam video of this song
Wish I could catch God by the beard. Mediator is becoming one of my favorite Jinjer songs. First half so slinky, second half so relentless. It's a drum clinic, but more than that, it's a song. Brilliant!
Pisces (going back to that) is considered a mediator and Tatiana is talking about what she wishes life was compared to the reality which is what I think the costume changes are about. Pretty, I wish for this and I wish for that, darker this is what I see. One line that goes along with what I explained about the imagery in Teacher Teacher before is also present here where she says that she would like to grab God by the beard and drag him down to the dirty streets because she doesn't understand why what she is seeing is being allowed to happen. The drum playthrough of this is really good. A master class in stick and foot independence.
If it's any consolation, they practice the hell out of being able to play like that. Every interview they talk about how they make sure the sound is right and constantly improve what they do. They worked at it a long time to make it look that easy. If you want a video video, I Speak Astronomy.
I always enjoy a Jinjer reaction from someone who appreciates everything that is going lyricly and musically. Have you watched any of Vlad's drum play throughs? There is one for this song from a concert performance. Really cool to watch him play. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
Next song is Home Back 😄 And next band is Snarky Puppy, with the song Lingus 😍 Btw, I haven't heard Mediator before. But having listened to Vortex and Home Back, I recognized many patterns of their style.
Lol 95% of the time the main core of the music piece is drafted first, then tati creates lyrics, themes, song structures and vocal phrasings/options around the music. Jinjer - Pisces (Live Session) Jinjer - Perennial (Live At Wacken 2019) Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - On The Top (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Official Live) Jinjer - Words of Wisdom (Official Live) Jinjer - Judgement & Punishment (Tatiana One Take Vocal) Jinjer - Captain Clock (Live at Resurrection Fest 2018) Jinjer - Call Me A Symbol (Official Live in LA)
I hope you took my advice to watch the drum playthrough Vlad uploaded of him playing this at a festival - it's FOH audio capture minus the vocals to let you concentrate on what he's doing with the drumming. So much technicality going on with this song that it makes me sweat just watching them, never mind having to get it all right live!! Just *so* good. :)
@@teckreactions Oh, you need to see Eugene's bass playthrough vid for Vortex. I know you're a drummer, but what Eugene creates for that song in particular is a 5-string drop-A #MasterClass ;)
Great to see Jinjer on your channel again. FYSA...Vlad has a live show drum play through video of this song for your listening/watching enjoyment: ruclips.net/video/k6Xoipsd22E/видео.htmlsi=qw5o5tF_M-5hrzd7 . I'd suggest Noah OMV just because it doesn't get as many reactions as other Jinjer staples. 🤘🍻
Tatiana wears contrasting outfits in most if not all of their official videos. In this one, I think the transformation is from a young, aloof, somewhat afraid girl into a cold, calculating, kind of scary woman herself. The third is the normal everyday street girl who is somewhere in between both of the others... A mediator
In other words, the first girl is naive but knows just enough to worry, the second knows the scam and knows her role in it and the third is in between being naive and knowing too much about the real world - hence why she is the most confused and angriest of the three
But riding a bike is really difficult … until you have practiced enough! :D You really should watch Home Back, especially considering the situation in Ukraine today
Not even their parents love them as much as I do

Mediator
Stop!
Go!
Go on!
My wish would be
To see this sun shining

To be an amusement park
Rather colourful than dark

Except for himself
To love and take care of
I wanted a loser to win
The thin never starving
The full not keeping it down
And needing nothing from now on
Firе's burning all around us
And all we feel is cold
I want a neighbour, not a hater
And a hеad to go round
From white, white snow
But what to do now?
Wish I could catch god by the beard
And drag him to the dirty streets
To show him what was going on
The kind of curse we've waged upon
We're half way through to freedom
The path is treacherous
The best way to make a kettle boil
Is to turn your back on this
You've stranded me with no decree
No lessons given, only learned
Cold blood is coursing through my veins
'Cause ice will never burn
What is happiness?
What is inner peace?
What do we have to do
To get a piece of you?

Vlad is such a unique drummer and is also one of the main composers of Jinjers music!

I did a drum play through reaction to Vortex so far.
@teckreactions The Mediator drum play through is pretty good, too. Concert performance.

Jinjer - Pisces (Live Session)
Jinjer - Perennial (Live At Wacken 2019)
Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev)
Jinjer - On The Top (Live in Kiev)
Jinjer - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Official Live)
Jinjer - Words of Wisdom (Official Live)
Jinjer - Judgement & Punishment (Tatiana One Take Vocal)
Jinjer - Captain Clock (Live at Resurrection Fest 2018)
Jinjer - Call Me A Symbol (Official Live in LA)
On this album the guys helped a bit in some complex part to figure out how to deliver the lyrics. She mentioned that in an interview
Maybe time for an old school Jinjer, to see where they come from? And Tati with dreadlocks, thats nice too.
There's a Live playthrough by Vlad on this track
Love jinjer

I’ll do that. I’ve only done Vortex so far.

I though this as if she's her own neighbor and each one complains about it.
Who is gonna be the one (live) and Teacher Teacher next please!!!!!
I’ve done Teacher, Teacher.
🤘🇺🇦🤘
If song starts with blastbeats it's a good song)
But riding a bike is really difficult … until you have practiced enough! :D
You really should watch Home Back, especially considering the situation in Ukraine today
Prosody
Day 2 of requesting Protest the Hero
On the list. Tons of music to get to.
You gotta check out the falling in reverse Ronald live drum play through on luke hollands channel🫣
I watched it yesterday!!!!
