Glad to see you're back! As as kid, I always thought Friday the 13th and Simon's Quest on NES was pretty creepy. As an adult, Resident Evil 7 is probably the scariest game I've ever played.
@@GenerationGapGamingI completely agree with him, Resident Evil 7 is incredibly freaky and the scariest game I have played recently and I hear the VR version is even freakier. A first playthrough doesn't take that long to get through. Don't know if there's any sales on consoles but I just go the deluxe edition of RE7 and RE8 on PC for $29, a great deal.
I'm with ya. There was always something unsettling about Friday the 13th on NES, probably the music. I never played the game if I was by myself. And yeah, RE7 still remains one of the scariest games I have played currently. Gave me an anxiety attack. I hear the VR version is even freakier.
The scariest moment I can recall was the first time I saw Dracula's 2nd form in the original Castlevania on the NES. This was right after the game was released and no one I knew had ever beaten the game. One day at a buddy's house he finally "killed" Dracula and when he scored the final hit he dropped the controller and started jumping around the room in victory. I knew something wasn't right and when I saw Drac morph into that second form it rightly scared the you know what out of me! I yelled at my friend that Dracula wasn't dead and he better pick up the controller...but by the time he ran over poor Simon had already taken more damage and he tried his best to fight the second form but got annihilated. He then got so angry he threw the NES controller, which end up yanking the NES just enough to disconnect the power causing us to lose the last 3 hours we'd spent playing the game. Lots of cursing at both the NES and each other followed. Good times. :)
I agree with you 100% about Friday the 13th. The music in those rooms and how Jason just randomly comes out of nowhere and just beat you. It was crazy!! Yes, back in our day!! That game was so scary back then, that I quit playing it and took it back to the mom and pop video rental store I got it from and never played it game again lol. It's to say that they did a good job of making the game scary for sure!
I don't think any game will ever give me the same feeling that resident evil did. It was scary to a 16 year old kid at the time. I know everyone is jaded to the whole survival horror idea, but it was incredible when it came out.
Welcome back. It's great to see a video upload from you. As for scary moments, I cannot think of any more prominent in my childhood than a lot of the death scenes from the games like Uninvited and shadowgate.
I didn't really play Uninvited until adulthood. Love it and yes it is super creepy even now. I totally see how it would leave a big impression as a kid. Thanks for the welcome back!
You completely lost me with FNAF, but you recovered smoothly with Dracula Unleashed. It was the score and the load screen painting that always made me feel uneasy with that game. It made me happy that someone acknowledged this game! Subscribed for that one!
Welcome back! I find that a lot of these have experiences of moments of temporary calm and safety when the monster could pop out at seemingly any minute. A jump scare is one thing, but a jump scare when you're directly controlling the character subjected to it is another thing entirely! It's especially disturbing in Friday the 13th because you have those cabin safe havens with that calming music. It almost feels wrong that Jason should be allowed in there and could be lurking around any corner.
Welcome back bro. For me, it's Sweet Home, a Japanese game we never got for the famicom/nes. There's one scene in particular I won't spoil but it's also the dread that if any of your chars die, that's it. They ain't coming back.
Hey Hunter! Great to hear from you my friend. Hope all is well. Yes!!!! I have watched some Sweet Home clips on YT. Looks really freaking scary. For Famicom right? I need to be on the hunt for that one. Would be a good one for the collection.
Brother, did you lose weight? I hope all is well, bro! Glad you're back! FT13 on NES, just knowing Jason is out there and that he may be in the cabin waiting for me at some random point on the map was terrifying!
In Resident Evil 2, when you're going through the police station for the first time, you pass some boarded up windows and nothing happens. But that second time, arms bust through the planks and grab you! I jumped out of my seat.
Great to see ya dude! RE:2 for n64 would always have me having to stand around and not move until I felt brave enough. Clocktower 3 had me feeling that way too! great picks man!
What an awesome halloween treat. First game to creep me out was Ecco the dolphin. Creepy sea life , huge blue whale in the depths of the ice caverns, huge dna strands and scary as hell aliens.
thanks! I never did a deep dive, no pun intended, of Ecco. I get the creepiness of deep sea creatures though. So unsettling. I appreciate you sharing with us.
I'm glad to see you back brother! And I hope that you and your family are doing well! I still watch a bunch of your old videos as you're really good at hitting those nostalgia feels.
Was worried about you Tyler (we share the same name) a few weeks ago I checked to see if I missed any uploads and dragons lair was the last one, glad you're back man
Hey man! You're back! I got Friday the 13th at Kaybee's in Vienna when they were going out of business for $10. I just recently beat it... and I love Showbiz! All I wanted to do was eat pizza and play games..
Tyler it is good to see you again bro, I miss seeing new videos drop on your channel especially the secrets and history videos. Please don't go away for awhile again, you're my favorite video game RUclipsr .
YAAAASSSSSSSS!!!! Like the first time Jaws’ fin popped out of the water! I can remember Haunted House from Atari scaring me lol. Just like you said, compared to todays graphics and standards wowwwww. But still scared me. Great video and thanks for coming back!
Haunted House on Atari was ambitious for the time honestly. I get where it would freak you out as a kid for sure. Thanks for bringing that one back to my memory. The cartridge art for that one was freaky too.
@@GenerationGapGaming It was! It's debatable whether it's "retro" I suppose, but thanks for the reply and always happy to see more content coming from your channel at any pace!
The worst scare I remember is playing the Resident Evil 3 demo, and about creamed our pants when Nemesis jumps through the police station window, then frantically ran away from him.
The scariest game I ever played was Death Stranding, which really freaked me out so much that I could barely play it. The games with the goriest imagery I stick to are Doom (1993) and Doom 2. Both of which I've gotten 100% on (all kills, all items, and all secrets).
I would randomly check to see if I missed a notification or something, but nope, just a long break. As everyone else, glad to see you're back my dude! Great to hear from you buddy! No mullet boy in this one for you to find lol. Yeah the weight loss was intentional and I feel so much better now. Setting a good example for my family.
So happy to see a new awesome video from you Tyler. I love me some retro spooky games I remember going to my moms friends house and her son had a playstation. I put in resident evil and yes when that dog jumped out the window I certainly had a jump scare ha
I remember going to Showbiz as a kid and seeing that Gorilla playing the keyboard. I kept my eye on him because I knew at any moment he may malfunction and get up after us! HaHa!
For me, it was intellivisions dungeons and dragons treasure of tarmin. I know, it's a stupid thing to say that. But imagine being in a dark basement with a tv and playing that game.
