Length: ??? (7500 feet)
At around 8:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2014 eastbound 14G derailed in the bend at milepost 37.2 at the MSI mill in Vandergrift, PA. On this daily mixed freight train, 21 tank cars derailed; most of them carrying petroleum crude oil (hazmat placard 1267) and a few carry propane (hazmat placard 1075).
In the beginning of the video the head end was stopped in East Vandergrift at about milepost 36.1, then the train had to move east to unblock one of two crossings in town. In the middle of the video is the scanner feed from when the train derailed, along with many pictures of the wreck. At the end of the video is some equipment heading to the wreck site, along with a backhoe plowing the right-of-way for trucks carrying new track sections to get to the wreck site.
Eventually the east end of the train still on the rails went eastbound to Blairsville, not seen. The west end still on the rails was picked up by C7T light engine move and taken westbound back to Conway, video will be uploaded tomorrow night.
one heck of a wreck, glad no one was hurt, and good to see locomotives stayed on track.
Quite a diverse array of locomotives to be involved in a derailment. Glad everyone was okay, and on a less serious note, I'm also glad that none of the locomotives received any damage.
Yep
Thankfully the heritage unit and the NS crew were safe.
Oh I thought it was destroyed
That was a close one
Great video again....Really lucky no one was hurt.....Hard to believe there was a Heritage unit in the lead....have a nice weekend
Wow nice job and wow I'm glad that the reading heritage unit is ok
Top radio reply was "I don't think those cars are supposed to be in that building " !!
Great video, thanks for publishing...
Nice Unstoppable song intro!
I waited for an hour for 1067 to go through edmon. Turns out it was in seward. My toes were numb!
I live on top of the hill on Sherman and I was outside when this happend I fell cause of the shaking and I'm only 11 scared the crap out of me!!
What caused the derailment?
There will always be speculation over the cause of any derailment, but for this one speed was ruled out as a factor and the blame seems to be on the track itself.
Ho. Ly. Shit. I was like 3 years old when that happened. Work got canceled for mom, the school kids went in between the train cars with help from the train officials of NS
yeah love the power
Who dislikes this?

Liberal, conservative, whatever. Has nothing to do with it. Fracking uses toxic chemicals that can pollute drinking water sources underground. If done carelessly, people's health can be jeopardized.

But that's not in this video, it's just the railroads making (or losing, but mostly making) money.
