This series is awesome, just waiting for the algorithm gods to randomly show millions of people these videos and give them the attention they deserve 🤟
The lining looked great but we were a little worried about how durable the lining would be compared to the leather and wanted to make the second try a more comercially viable attempt.
Damn such a shame that it spilt, really shaping up to be a nice shoe, definitely agree having another attempt at keeping the lining, would've been really cool
Big fan of Goral Footwear and this series! If you looking for new suggestions on Will It Shoe, here are some of my suggestions: Fox Flannel shirts or Drake's ties or Welsh tapestry blankets. Lots of heritage and fabric choices behind each of these. For left-field suggestions, consider N95 masks/surgical masks, cheongsam/kimono silk offcuts, duct tape or muslin tea bags!
I do not have a proper definition for 'Will it Shoe?'. The coat's materials by themselves says 'no'. Seeing the areas that need reinforcement and using other scraps would then make it a 'yes'. But those extra scraps were not from the original coat. Not sure there is a right answer. The second 'pair' looked great. The side decorations were terrific. I sometimes confuse myself. But thank you to the Workshop for their effort.
Interesting conclusion! If we were to do it again I think we'd try and use some of the cord from the collar for the overlays and use the lining again for a full Barbour shoe.
You guys have a great series on your hands here! One thing that might be cool would be if you went into a little detail and especially the history of the materials being used.
I would definitely buy the "alternative" shoe. Even better, do the waxed canvas with a Brown CXL toe and side stripes! Flint and Tinder makes a waxed trucker jacket that would be perfect!
I wonder if the fabric on the first vamp would’ve survived a lasting process if it had been cut on the bias? There might be more stretch that way. I love the color of those shoes. Both the first edition and the second.
Here's a challenge : Shoe an original, used 1960s space hopper, in all its scruffy, shabby orange glory. Given the molded curvature of the vinyl, I don't see how it can be done. Yes, I'm provoking you into trying it.
Just found your channel thanks to Rose Anvil. I love this series! and I was so hoping this would work. I'd love to see the shoe with that lining. What if it had a leather toe cap?
Came here from rose anvil. Love what you’re doing! The “muggs” turned out great! I’d buy those. These Barbour shoes look nice too. Checked out your website but no smaller sizes :( Size 3UK - hint hint :)
Good concept since there must be thousands of Barbour jackets languishing in the back of folks cupboards. Made me consider some of the heavier Scottish tweeds as an idea.
I’ve never heard of Barbour before. So…waxed cotton eh? Sounds comfortable. Add that paint on toecap plastic goop Red Wing has? Or, just sew on a leather toecap?
While the second pair looked nice, I was really excited for the original attempt. I think I like the uniformity of material more. Turns out "Will it Shoe?" is more of a spectrum than binary haha
Kind of a fail, as the first attempt certainly seemed to be the better looking pair! The jacket was either old and a big rotten, or one of the post-2005 lower grade fabric ones. A sterling effort though!
I'd say it's a mixed success - what the Mythbusters might call a "plausible", say. I mean, Goral have been able to make canvas shoes on the same last, no?
5:07 you came off as a tyrant boss when you started attacking your team’s alternative shoe rather then just commenting on the original shoe. You’ve made similar comments before and I thought they were just flukes but you do this often enough to warrant this comment. Please stop attacking your team and just comment on the materials ability to shoe.
Interesting that that's how it came across to you. We get Sam to do a blind reaction to the shoes, the first time you see them he's seeing them for the first time too, we want to get his genuine reaction, and we tell him to not hold back. Most of the team at the workshop have been making shoes for years if not decades, they're used to getting feedback, it's how our sampling process works and I can assure you they don't see it as a comment on their skills or abilities, a lot of these decisions are completely subjective!
It's honestly wild to me how few views these videos have. They're incredibly well produced and genuinely fascinating to watch. Well done guys.

Hail the all seeing algorithm
I like the jacket liner on the first shoe but the pattern/exterior of the second shoe looks really nice

Damn such a shame that it spilt, really shaping up to be a nice shoe, definitely agree having another attempt at keeping the lining, would've been really cool
Mix of the two will be a success
My heart dropped when I noticed the split! They would have looked great

Love that you are using something so durable. Beautiful results.
The jacket he is wearing is quality !
Just Totally incredible. Hatt's off to the Goral Company.
Master craftsmanship right there!!
I really thought it would've worked but the alternative option does look pretty good
I'd been waiting for this one.
The second option was a really cool concept for sure
I think this is my new favorite shoe channel
Second shoe still looked stunning.
It was a success and give the lining another go..10/10
Oooooh the twist 👍👍
Had to end on a high!
The second go really turned out nice, I'd wear it!
Success, love that shoe, and yes I agree the jacket liner would have been awesome. Yet turned out great.
Barbour jacket and matching shoes could look pretty sweet 🤔
The second attempt also looks really good! Would love to see the cord instead of leather - but that might not work. Had a blast watching this 👍

Success, the redesign is dope 👍
Turned out amazing
Man…I have an old wax jacket just collecting dust. These look amazing!! 🤣🤣
Damn! The 2nd shoe is absolutely better! Wow!!!
Excellent work! God bless!
I would definitely buy the "alternative" shoe. Even better, do the waxed canvas with a Brown CXL toe and side stripes! Flint and Tinder makes a waxed trucker jacket that would be perfect!
thoses look super clean

Great wolf tattoo

Really wish the court she worked, but, still, cheers. Makes me wonder what other more "delicate" materials might do. Like a wedding dress? 🤔
Yes its a success
It shoed. I was really wanting to see the shoe with that lining, though.
I’ve never heard of Barbour before. So…waxed cotton eh? Sounds comfortable.

Adding new materials to the shoe is a viable option. If ihe greater portion is recycled, why not.
Success!

Turns out "Will it Shoe?" is more of a spectrum than binary haha
Those would most likely have worked if they were lasted by hand instead of by machine.
Agreed, a round 2 is definitely in order!
exactly.
This is probably the coat made in ‘somewhere less desirable than UK’😉
Kind of a fail, as the first attempt certainly seemed to be the better looking pair! The jacket was either old and a big rotten, or one of the post-2005 lower grade fabric ones. A sterling effort though!
Maybe if this catches the eyes of someone at Barbour they'll send us something better to work with 🤞
I think it shoe. You started with a jacket and ended up with at least 1 shoe. That's a shoe.
Do you do factory tours?
Which is the closest football team to where you guys are?
We do, if you drop us an email we could show you around. In regards to the team I think Sheffield Wednesday is technically the closest.
@@GORALFootwear Sweet! My next trip to the UK will include a trip to a Sheffield Wednesday match !
holy shit these are so classy o.o
rip the first try lol
I'd say it's a mixed success - what the Mythbusters might call a "plausible", say. I mean, Goral have been able to make canvas shoes on the same last, no?
I want Muggs!!!
Will salmon or cod skin shoe?
I think it did shoe.
How about you try some lace undergarments :)
I`m sure you can come up with some sexy sneakers :D
Pass

i need to invest in gear and get skills

@@GORALFootwear nice catch man. I didn’t think of it like that. Thanks for helping me understand. Always great to see your videos
