unfortunately, WG does not want to put the Rising Sun flag in game because of something to do with offending Korea. there aren't many people who are happy with it.

This isn't historically accurate. The yamato's range is way longer than that. It's said that the range is over the horizon and scout planes need to be sent ahead to relay coordinates. The yamato shouldn't be able to see enemy battleships when destroying them. The only weakness is superior air power aka carriers
That is the case with most wargaming stuff... range drastically reduced in the name of 'play balance'
Also note, it is a really early Yamato, wonder if you can upgrade to the late war version...
JKC40 It is the late war Yamato. notice that there are only two of Mogami's turrets and the large number of triple 25mm mounts.
Tedster59 oh ok, yeah it is the Yamato as of Ten Ichigo, just the 12.7mm turrets are hard to see. Had to fish out my ancient Yamato hardback.

But you do realize you have to make gameplay concessions right? No one is going to want to play a game like this if they can control the yamato but can't see what they are shooting at and have to put in coordinates. Or atleast for the market they are going for which is the arcade player.
Also despite the use of scout planes Yamato never used them in combat, because American Aircraft would shoot them down. They would have had better luck using radar which they didn't for some goddamn reason. And when Yamato did engage enemy ships, it was within the range of sight that she could actually see the ships she was shooting at. That battle is the battle of Leyte Gulf by the way. And with that in mind this is historically accurete.
Yamato was the lead ship of the Yamato class of Imperial Japanese Navy World War II battleships. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed, displacing 72,800 tonnes at full load and armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 inch) 45 Caliber Type 94 main guns. Neither ship survived the war.
Named after the ancient Japanese Yamato Province, Yamato was designed to counter the numerically superior battleship fleet of the United States, Japan's main rival in the Pacific. She was laid down in 1937 and formally commissioned a week after the Pearl Harbor attack in late 1941. Throughout 1942, she served as the flagship of the Japanese Combined Fleet, and in June 1942 Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto directed the fleet from her bridge during the Battle of Midway, a disastrous defeat for Japan. Musashi took over as the Combined Fleet flagship in early 1943, and Yamato spent the rest of the year, and much of 1944, moving between the major Japanese naval bases of Truk and Kure in response to American threats. Although present at the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, she played no part in the battle.
The only time Yamato fired her main guns at enemy surface targets was in October 1944, when she was sent to engage American forces invading the Philippines during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. On the verge of success the Japanese force turned back, believing they were engaging an entire US carrier fleet rather than the light escort carrier group that was all that stood between the battleship and the vulnerable troop transports.
During 1944, the balance of naval power in the Pacific decisively turned against Japan, and by early 1945 its fleet was much depleted and badly hobbled by critical fuel shortages in the home islands. In a desperate attempt to slow the Allied advance, Yamato was dispatched on a one-way mission to Okinawa in April 1945, with orders to beach herself and fight until destroyed protecting the island. The task force was spotted south of Kyushu by US submarines and aircraft, and on 7 April 1945 she was sunk by American carrier-based bombers and torpedo bombers with the loss of most of her crew.
So this game is pretty much like Navy Field, just with less depth and less crew management...
This game is way more immersive than navy field.

***** NF Is pathetic money grabbing game where unless you pay for veterans on your crews your guns are gonna be inaccurate as hell and earning experts even when using AA is slow as fuck, navyfield sucks and comparing it to something this impressive is stupid, really stupid.
Despite being an Alpha tester, I find it hard to remember how the game looked back then. I much prefer the old shell models when tracking them, and the one thing I do remember is a graph that they had while queuing for random battles that showed you how many people total were queued, what class they were playing and at what tier. I'd love to see those features returned along with the old maps and that post-game team list; that was so much better than what they have now.
That said, I am grateful for all the optimizations

I hope Gnomefather makes sound mods for this as well, those 18inch guns sound so pathetic.
Agreed, the little "poom!" makes it hard to consider that it's the largest deck gun in history.
It's loud enough to make you deaf for a good minute or two lol

it's a unique ship to play, and definitely not an "I win" button.
I saw the top of the Yamato move, which i believe is the radar, does it rotate towards where the scout plane is or where you are aiming?
It is the optical rangefinder, and it points at where you are aiming.
The Cool Persian You are probably talking about the large rangefinder. Ships of the day had several optical devices that used the trigonometric "Law of Sines" to calculate the distances to targets. It makes for a fun math exercise.
Tedster59 how do you know how to lead targets do you just learn over time or do they dashes actually represent something in the leading indicate on where to shoot can you reply to this so i can better understand how it works?
Using the only tier 10 in the game to kick the crap out of everyone else doesn't exactly show off your skill. Seems more like kicking babies.

Please do not get offended, but I expect you(one of the most experienced battleship captains of NA Alpha) to get more, I was lucky to get into Weekend and I usually does like 90 hits with my BB, and may I ask why it is BB? lol it is probally so obviously. xD (sorry for bad English, my English been lowerd since new English teacher.)

Well there are carriers to play too, which btw isn't the artillery of WoWS. It pretty cool how wargaming implemented aircraft carriers and their role. You should check it out, it's more than meets the eye and definitely something I'm excited for.
If you're a battleship, it's mostly leading targets and dodging torpedoes. However, destroyer and carrier game play are much different.

this is one of my favorite games. I love the feel and look of it. Biggest downfall is the aircraft carriers because I'm terrible at them.

GamePlayShare My view is that World of Tanks is to War Thunder as Call of Duty is to Battlefield. War Thunder is much more realistic than Battlefield ever will be, though. And Arcade is simply for those who want a quick ten-minute derpout instead of having to pick at Field Marshal Rommel's brain to make the next move.
Some sounds, especially the voice, sounds totally out of place, as coming from a spaceship game. Not a WW2 naval game.

That sound comes every time you change your rudder/speed. Just like in a real warship.
SBSDK well i never heard that in another video from wows, i find the beep noise very anoying because its like every few seconds and sounds so electronic
TreeSlayer I mentioned it in the description. it comes up when you change the settings for locked rudder. there is a key that lets you move rudder without the sound, but does not lock the rudder in position when you release the key.

TreeSlayer You can also just move the rudder left and right as you need it and maintain course yourself, without relying on the game holding the rudder in a fixed position for you. As the video shows, Q and E lock the rudder, while A and D turn the rudder where it will automatically return to neutral. I don't think that sound plays when you use A and D instead of Q and E.

War Thunder is more gruesome, at times frustrating but most of the time satisfyingly realistic combat than the World of ..... series
I'm guessing that WT will provide provide some slower, grindy-er and more tactical naval combat experience once they are done finishing up the ground and air combat

I would be tempted to try out this game, for only one reason - Bismarck. But since this is WG we're talking about, I'm sure they will make Bismarck suck like hell, just like they did with King Tiger and Me-262, in the other failures.

ensteffo Well at least tell us why it is so "crappy" I play it, it seems alot like the old game Enigma Rising Tide, just faster pace.
So the battleships role is to deal literally tons of damage, but whats the role for destroyers? I mean, you basically one-shot them. And those shells from that cruiser did barely any damage, so my guess is that a destroyer wouldnt do much better.
Do not get all the love people have for Yamato. Her big guns couldn't hit anything, because her fire control was woeful by contemporary standards. Her armour, whilst thick, could be penetrated by 16/50 guns at 30,000 yards because the steel used was barely passed WWI standards. On top of that, Japanese damage control was famously terrible.
Iowa or Vanguard could probably have handled her. Even older allied battleships - South Dakota's or KGV's - may well have faired better than most would expect.
my god. can this ship become any more famous? as soon as the full release comes out i will be grinding straight for this beast of a warship. imagine 3000 ton turrets (which weighed more than a fletcher destroyer) lobbing 18.1 inch 3218 pound shells straight down through your decks. OUCH. wonder if they will have San-Shiki shells aka beehive shells. (basically giant AA shells fired from her main 18.1 inch guns.)
Get the imperial navy's flag back .... I'm Japanese so I would want that back ..... At least...（ーー；）

Whats the Kind of: "skill" or "experienced" Battleship Player? It´s just Training and knowing your ship..
And what does: DD mean, BB and that Kind?
Its the naval codification for the differet types of warships:
BB is batttleship, DD is destroyer, CV is aircraft carrier, CA is heavy cruiser, CL is light cruiser, CLT is torpedo cruiser
And the list keeps going...
DD: destroyer
BB: battleship
CL: light cruiser
CA: heavy cruiser
CV: aircraft carrier
i was just thinking, how will WoWS deal with some of the carrier designs and technical implementations? like the Akagi CV for example, it had 3 flight decks prior to 1942, 1 for landing, 2 for taking off, it had a major refit that replaced its decks with a single long span flight deck, now when they were talking about the ships in the dev diaries they said they would be implementing different versions of each ship prior to and post modernizations and major refits, which means ships like the Ise class can be converted into Hybrid Battleship Carriers and Mogami class heavy cruisers can be converted to hybrid aircraft carriers, but will the Akagi start with its triple flight deck configuration or a single span flight deck? and if it starts with the triple deck will the planes land on the decks accordingly? will the landing and launching animations be unique? (this would be a great "ask the devs" question lol)
Awesome vid. I've only been playing the game a few days and have got to tier 4 is most braches, now settling in for the longer grind. I noticed you fire a lot of AP, is that actually worthwhile in high tiers? I ask as I find with my tier 4 BB I end up usually just firing HE as half the time the AP min rolls for about the same damage as the HE anyway, so I might aswell just go HE and cause fires and crits.
everyone is whining about 'historical accuracy'. this is a MOBA, basically, and the main focus should be on balance so that the game will produce evenly matched teams, and in so doing making skill and teamwork the required assets for victory. that won't happen if a strict adherence to historical accuracy is demanded.

I never tried the game but can someone enlighten me to how you converge the guns or is it done automatically. I feel that if the convergence is set manually, the game would have another depth to it which allows setting good and great players apart. Also, is spread a RNG based value? If so, how can you reduce the numbers; is it possible to do single shell firing to improve the accuracy for example? And when outfitting the ship, is there a displacement/tonnage limit where the ammo count for guns, armor thickness, weight of additional gear (ie scout planes) all count towards weight limit that forces players to think of their role in the ship (destroyers can be a torp destroyer, guns destroyer or AA destroyer) rather than a ship that has insane firepower in all catagories.
I wouldn't mind playing this, but I don't like playing the Japanese awhile my opponents are playing same ship faction. IJN vs. USN and/or HMS.

Goddamn that ship is beastly, imagine if carriers wouldn't had become such a dominant force in naval warfare, Radar or no even the Iowa would had been clenching it's asscheeks hard coming within range of those 18 inch guns.
Looks like fun. Not an NF fanboy or hater, just want to say that i played it for almost 5 years, really loved the game even with all of its faults and bugs and the addition of subs. I was so excited when NF2 came live on the server and was waiting a lot! dissapointment was huge and i havent logged into NF for a while, so i really would like to give this one a try.
That was tough man, respect. Most people see nothin' special about the video excluding Yamato, but anybody who was on BW or Aplha can say that's really ok skill.

Is the Bismarck available yet in WoWS? The Yamato is powerful no doubts, but the Bismarck has always been my favorite battleship.
This game is fucking buggy mess right now. Even if you met recommended system req, it will fucking break your gameplay in the middle of the battle. Better to wait until they release it in full condition.
So I take it the finished version will include the Royal Navy and Kriegsmarine(?) too? Can't wait to be cruising in the Bismark :D

Those binoculars are stupid, you can see like 200 feet over sea level, makes hiding behind things completely useless. Also ships shouldn't show up as icons but that's not as bad as the binoculars
watching these "ships" slide over the ocean actually is pretty damn funny. thank god i'll never touch this arcade shooter if it stays THAT bad, tho.
It will be more GREAT IF YOU CAN CONTROL THE CAPTAIN AND ROAM AROUND THE SHIP LIKE A BOSS AND SEE THE SURROUNDINGS ON FIRST PERSON. (SEEMS LEGIT)
Can you select the specific guns you want to fire? Or if you click the mouse button, it just gives a broadside? It seems like a waiste of ammo and time to fire you 9 main guns on a cruiser with barely any health left.
Ted what are those things on the top right corner of your screen with multipliers.. they look similar to achievements like sharpshooter from WoT!
P.S Im not sure if they are called as achievements.
Question, why did you keep firing AP at the cruisers, most RUclipsrs have recommended fire HE at everything and AP at BB.
Some decent battleshipping. You also seem to have the same habit I do of constantly tapping alt with your thumb. This is the first time I've seen another person do it so it's good to see I'm not crazy :)
this looks fun, but the more and more I watch it, the more I see leading and doing big dmg, or good torp shots, Other than that I don't see much to this game, it's not like there's cover or angle like in WoT I guess for those of us who can only watch at the time must wait :P

The old days of no armor angling mechanics, destroyers with citadels and everyone using HE. And the horrible netcode of course.

Should i quit world of tanks for world of ships. This seems for fun and fair, all the matches on world of tanks it seems as if all my explosive shells tier 5 don't do anything to a light tank.
Now we just need a Historical Realism gunsound mod like for WoT. So each time you fire your speakers get blown out :D

omg this isnt historically accurate. the yamoto irl shot a flamethrower over 20 km and could destroy the entire american fleet with a laser. im so not playing this if you guys cant follow historical accounts.

i think we still have to many icons blinking and why can we almost constantly see where the enemy is by having an icon above them ?, think this way of dumbing down the game is a shame and does nothing good for game atmosphere.
