ahh thank you for doing justice to yellow's arc! i feel like they're very overlooked despite everything they have gone through, both prior to the events of the manga and the entire night raid hell. i also think it's very iconic how in the end, when they agreed to face their fears and go to the moon, where they couldn't run away physically anymore, they still found a way to escape emotionally by convincing themselves they're a lunarian, and a lunarian wouldn't be hurt about some gems dying. it's not just phos who has mental issues, and the whole cast's struggles deserve to be seen. thank you for the awesome video!
The more I think about this series and the deeper I dive into the details the sadder I get. So much of their pain and coping mechanisms mirror my own. It’s like looking at myself in a mirror and it kinda hurts.
I think that was alexandrite partner, chrysoberyl. I also thought that was yellow diamond in long hair but then I knew about alexandrite's partner, chrysoberyl who was taken to the moon. That's probably why alexandrite was obsessed with the Lunarians. But it might be some yellow diamond's fanart. ^^
You bring up SO many good points about yellow diamond. When you were talking about yellows envy for Pad, being essentially unconscious and in a state of nothingness, I feel like this foreshadows yellows position on the moon. Yellow is the first gem that we see mentally and physically want to become a lunarian (like when they jump off the ledge on the moon and shatter). Yellow, being one of the oldest, is very similar to the lunarians mentally. They are tired, they don’t want to go on anymore, immortality is burdensome for them. And I think ichikawa set it up brilliantly as yellow is one of the first to show real assimilation into lunarian ways.

from the looks of these comments a lot of us were hit hard in the feels by yellow's story. one detail in particular that stuck with me was the conversation between ame, welegato and dia after the scene of yellow falling in ch 79. they contemplate yellow's mental state but I felt uncomfortable with the scientific demeanor in discussing therapy. they do want to help yellow but there's this clear divide between these three healthy, well-adjusted gems and the broken, isolated one. yellow's whole story is gut-wrenching but this part in particular really connected it to reality for me.
Great point with the conversation afterward. How Yellow was sidelined to the "Oh they couldn't handle the 200 years" so we need to figure something out felt very detached. And this is further compounded to how sidelined Yellow normally is as a reserved gem. They aren't ones that will speak their minds often. And those are the types of individuals that might never get the care they deserve.
What breaks my heart is how « silent » yellows decent into mental instability is. There’s hints but they’re cleverly hidden. It’s exactly how mental illness works, no one really sees it at first, seems as tho it only becomes dangerous when it’s too late… ahhhh baby yellow :/ stated with wanting to forget painful memories and ended with wanting to forget themselves… that hurts
This show has the best use of 3d animation i have ever seen, and I refuse to downplay what a beautiful show it is. From the soundtrack (Cinnabars theme made me learn the erhu) to the great story which got even better when I read the manga, to the voice acting and so on
Something I never see dissected in these videos is adamants brother. Why did he want to destroy humans? He was the initiator of this great divide between human bone, flesh, and soul. Reread and rewatched this series and that’s all I could think of.
Yellow is a 9 hardness diamond. Upon witnessing the dust field on the moon, its sorrow makes it crack and lose pieces. A heartache so deep that the diamond cracks itself.

My favorite gems: 1. Rutile: Rutile is hot. They are my quen, my king, my savior, one of the few crazy insane character’s I love 2. Phos: Og Phos is my favorite. Their innocence, their will to help others, unlike the other gems, who seem to only interact with gems who are useful, they have a sense of empathy. 3. Yellow: They are like the mom friend who is emo inside. I love them. 4. Dia: CRAZY ASS IDOL WHO IS hot and plus character development is hawt 5. Euc: Idk man I just like em 6. Zircon: hair

I’ve never thought that phos’ speed is a comparison to them running away from everything. And after winter, Phos stopped running bc of antarc’s death.
