I was away for 2 weeks in Pennsylvania and the only thing decent to eat in the area was Wendys. I was surprised at the prices. I would get the Asiago ranch chicken club just the sandwich itself was $7 which is pretty damn high considering McDonald’s and Wendy’s both used to have $1 menu sandwiches that were edible. I tried the breakfast 1 day and I regret it tbh. It was the worst breakfast from a fast food place I’ve ever had tbh. Just not good. Didn’t go back for breakfast but went back for dinner

I worked briefly at a Wendy's as a teenager, it was my first job. I don't care if not all food is made absolutely fresh, it's still good.
I loved the burgers, fries, chilli and the baked potato. I had good times in that brief period of time.
I always buy a side of chili to take home and eat later.
I didn't know Wendy's was considered cheap. We eat out every once in awhile. I'd still choose Wendy's over some of the others out there. At least you're not getting "mystery meat"

Same with A&W burger combos. In Canada combos are over $16. McDonald's and Wendy's struggle to keep combos under $10. The costs just keep going up.

Who wouldn’t make chili out of leftover beef (cooked fresh by the way but not sold as a burger) instead of throwing it away? No business wants to lose money!
As if the beef became tainted because no one ate it that same day... And then they freeze it! F fresh. It's better than being wasteful.

Our Wendys is great, I love their SW avocado salad, its BIG with excellent variety of good salad greens, not crap like iceberg lettuce, has full piece of grilled chicken, 2 sccops of avocado, diced tomatoes, shredded pepper jack and bacon bits. I ask for extra diced tomatoes. They do make them fresh at time of the order. If there has ever been a problem they always make it right or comp you for a free one. The new employee are starting hourly is 15.50hr
Depends on the state. Where I am at, $12/hr. You would think that is a good wage, but it is probably part time pay and the wage should really be $14.84/hr. which means before taxes and health insurance, they should be making like $21/hr.
I tried the fried chicken sandwich for the first time maybe a year or so ago. Excellent! but I wish they didn't put pickles in it.
I used to hardly hit Wendy’s but fell in love with the biggie bag deal and the up charge of a good juice drink. Honestly even the meat taste good and when getting a combo burger you can’t beat a substitute baked potato for fries

One of my absolute pet peeves is wasting food.. especially (as an animal lover) meat.. hopefully one day I'll be able to rid myself of meat cuz i do understand that i can't 100% talk unless I'm a true vegan or at least vegetarian but while i still eat meat it really wracks me when food is wasted but especially Meat...i tell McDonald's i have a problem with my sausage egg McMuffin the the other day and their solution is " ok we'll make it again but give us the other ones u ordered so we can throw in the trash" i went to Pizza Hut a few weeks ago and had a problem with the Pineapples they gave me and they asked for the pizza back to remake it..i said Nah u guys just gonna throw it away and they said " no we keep it to donate" and it made me smile cuz i never heard that From anyone else....i don't mean to be preachy especially cuz still an omnivore but us US citizens and people in the us period have things so great we really take shit for granted..my man Rza spoke of people who "would trade Gold for Food" and he's absolutely right..i don't mean to yap or be preachy but bottom line "please don't waste food, especially Meat"

I remember being told that it costs more for the cup than it does for the soda. That was a long time ago, but your video seems to say pretty much the same thing. It explains how some fast food restaurants can sell any size drink for one price.
When I worked there, around 30 years ago, the cost was about 25 cents for the cup and the drink. Even if you double or triple the cost for current time they still are making money on it.
WOW! Those are OLD commercials, those aren’t the prices now. The Jr. burgers cost almost as much as the regular burgers did in the old ads. But they are small portions for the small price too.
But the burgers are cooked to order, so there are no ‘old burgers’ it would still be fresh hamburger meat cooked before it expires used in the chili.
They just know who to buy food at the right price,you have to prepare for the day, you don’t have the time when it gets busy to prepare ,the food you need the most.
The fries have gone to shoestring size and I think last year were thicker than that.

When I was working at wendys in the 90s the jr bacon cheese burger was only around a$1.00 I really didn't have to pay I ate their for free specially on night shift.

Why is the burgers in the chili thing is always used as some kinda 'gotcha' point in these lists. I don't think I have ever heard a claim the meat in the chili was never frozen
Back in the 70s and 80s all burgers were cooked fresh in store. You could see them cooking fresh red meat. The grease was real too. Plus they had larger size burgers and more toppings I liked the chili. Doesn't matter if the chili meat was frozen.

My local Wendy's messes up our drive through order 50 % of the time and the service is SLOW ! Last year I remember ordering food for me and the wife to take home. I ordered this awesome looking barbeque chicken sandwich with pickles. bacon, and fried onion straws. I made the mistake of not checking the bag. I got home and found I was given a plain fish filet sandwich instead ! First world problem I know. I wonder if this is the reason that they don't have "QUALITY IS OUR RECIPE" on the outside of their building like others do ?

Cheap? They raised their prices on their spicy chicken sandwiches from $4.89 to 5.49 and it had taken me one visit with my receipt BOGO deal to find out. Then I went on the website and I found that they did not change the price nationally, but when I looked up the price locally, there it was and I am in a red state, should be much cheaper than write CA or NY!
I've been near 2 Wendy's recently and it was almost $20 for 2 people. Not as cheap as it used to be. Same as McDonald's. More expensive now.

I have no idea what you guys talking about or I don't know what you're complaining about I mean I don't eat at fast food that's often but I remember going to McDonald's okay I was going to get a Big Mac chicken sandwich you know the new one they have without any lettuce okay 10 piece chicken nuggets and a kids meal for my brother okay the whole thing end up costing $37 so I was like why buy that so I end up just buying the cheapest thing they had on the menu I bought two McDoubles one for me and one for my sister you know I was going to order for my family but damn it was that expensive so yeah I end up getting a McDouble two small fries and two small Coke and one kids meal and a 10-piece chicken nugget the 10 piece was for my dad and the whole thing at the costing $20.12 if I remember I'm like damn it's more cheaper to cook at home then shop at fast food okay I live in Florida I mean food prices have been expensive lately I mean what can we grow better than oranges so yeah Wendy's I mean it's really expensive either way fast food is expensive even the first place and what do you expect it's premade food I mean I can just get frozen food for half the price or get a Little Caesars Pizza for $5.55 yeah Little Caesars Pizza I used to remember when I used to cost $5 with tax it used to cost around $5.68 but now ever since it cost $5.55 and now cost about $5.84 I mean it's still cheap but it's bit more expensive now I mean inflation is a normal thing and third world country inflation is way worse no worry money goes up and down sometime money goes up and never goes down sometime money goes down and never go up no worry but kind of sucks but inflation is a normal thing

I think Wendy's is the best fast food chain besides Chick Fil A. But they are really terrible to workers. The things I've seen and the stories I've heard inspired me to eat at home more. There's almost nothing at a fast food restaurant that you can't make at home anyway. Also their customer service has been crap for years.
The redesigned fries are also about improving the taste of them if customers take their food to go, and might not eat it for 15-20 minutes. Wendy's old fries were amazing out of the oven, but turned to cardboard quickly. These new ones are designed to avoid that.
And for the record, FROZEN French fries are actually better than fresh ones. The freezing causes the potato's to crystalize, and they are fluffier when fried as a result.

As someone who used to work at Wendy's, back in the early 80's, I still love it. Nothing beats a frosty and fries...
The new fries are crap. But I do love the Frosty. Hasn't changed since the 70s.

I used to work at Burger King in the 80's, and you couldn't pay me to eat it now. A lot of locations were hit or miss in the late 90`s to early 2000's. Then they were just misses. Most of my local locations have closed.

It's like the laws of physics dictate that Wendy's must be cold regardless of how recently it was made.
Compared to most other fast food places Wendy's is sometimes more expensive, but I like the overall quality better. In my opinion and I used to go to a lot of fast food places (not so much lately) they were generally cleaner and the staff more friendly that others. My old favorite was a Double with cheese, ketchup only, sometimes a large fry with a small chili, and make chili fries. With some more recent coupon items if they a buy one Baconator get one for a dollar I will go with that, another coupon and size fries with any purchase for 99 cents. I am really hard pressed to complain about the place.
I went to one location, I had been working late, had a helper with me, decided to get us a late dinner. We place our orders and after everything is paid for and they hand us the bags they say sorry we are out of ketchup. None at all in the store, no packets, none in the kitchen, none at the counter. I ordered a double with cheese, ketchup only, wouldn't be time to tell me you have no ketchup? After a talk with the manager on duty and explaining how messed up the situation was, they refunded the money and let us keep the food.
Their was one location In North New Jersey, it was surreal, when you ordered food, it looked almost exactly like what you see in commercials or the pictures. The attention to detail was amazing, I actually was thinking they must be shooting a commercial the first time I went there. But nope, just how they did things.
Idk about anywhere else, but the Wendy's I work at STARTS you at 12.50 an hour. I wouldn't call that "cheap" labour persay, but I wouldn't say were extremely underpaid.

In the beginning Wendy's fries use to be thick, like a genuine old fashion french fries with a somewhat raw taste in the center. Now they're slightly thinner without any raw taste. In words Wendy's wrecked their fries.
They went to thinner, skin-on cut fries. They're dry and taste like dirt. The old ones were so satisfying.
Their fries are said to be the best by some people. Canned lemonade is pretty good, mixed right.
The fries are crap compared to what thy were in the 90s. But they do have Fanta soda in Canada. I think they serve 12 types of Fanta soda.

McDonald's knows all about low prices generating big profits. That was their whole business model for most of it's existence. Currently they've done studies that show their $1 soft drinks increase more than enough to compensate for the low prices. I'm surprised the other chains don't do that
Wendy's still is my favorite burger chain. Food has gone up in price anywhere you go thanks to Washington's

Wendy's depending on what part of town I am in and I am generally happy with Wendy's and employees.

Wendy's has never struck me as being cheap, or all that appetizing. About the only thing I like from there is the vanilla frosty, but the milkshakes from Arby's beat that too.

No no no...you got to stick to what they are giving you. $1 biscuit sandwiches should only be bought at that price going forward. Another should be their jr frosties with the $2 keyring. If you can get $1 frosties/365 = 0.0027, you should never buy a jr frosty by itself again.

Reading some of the comments not cheap I agree. Are usually get their son of a bacon sandwich medium fry and a medium chocolate Frosty and usually just a water to drink and it’s close to $10 if not over with everything going on.
I usually don’t get a soda because I like their Frosty’s so much. I’d rather pay for a chocolate frosty now, that I know that their soft drinks are more spending anyway. And, I’m a diet Pepsi person they have Coke
Easy way to get more for you $. Take the receipt survey, get two dave's singles for $2.75 each. Do without the fries. Get the key ring when they do the annual promotion, you get a jr frosty for free every time you show it.
I did that today. Two crispy chicken sandwiches and a key ring jr frosty $5.82. If I had not bought it that way, $5.49 + 5.49 + $1 = $11.98 + tax
Or buy a large drink from McDonald's, they are running a $1 on any large soft drink for $1

If Wendy's wanted to take over a large portion of the hamburger world all they have to do is cook burgers right then and there. I'd say 99% of times the meats hard, cold sitting there until it goes on a burger. The absolute best is hot off the grill but it never happens.

Get you a package of burgers get you some sandwich baggies throw you a ball of hamburger meat into the baggie hand Palm it on the counter turnover and palm it again stack them up about 5 stick them in the freezer you're ready to go when you want to cook a burger without the waiting in line and without getting ripped off $10

I used to work in Dublin, OH around the corner from Wendy's hq 20 some odd years ago. There was a Wendy's on the corner of that street. Best goddamn fast food I've ever eaten in my entire life. The burgers actually looked just about like the ones in the advertisements.

EDIT - "JUST $1.99" for that chicken biscuit sandwich? I've had those before. I wouldn't ever buy one again unless they dropped the price under 50 cents. It's like a soggy chicken nugget on a tiny hockey puck. Even 50 cents would be too much for that "sandwich".

After my wife vomited an hour or so after eating a frosty and nothing else. We contacted Wendy’s to tell them to check their machine out, we were threatened if we went viral about this. Haven’t been back since. Never will.

Wendy's really never was cheap at least compared to the main competitors even 30 years ago. The food quality was obviously better then what others offered. I occasionally eat there but the quality is way worse than it used to be. The hamburger even is nothing like it was. It just seems weird and reminds me when they experimented with a no-flip hamburger patty that failed miserably.
