- This is my second video of this same trip. The other one is a bit more free form and arty/MTV-ish. This is just an "as is" version. More of a verite.
This video encompasses the trains one takes from Wilderswil up to the Jungfraujoch and what one my expect to see along the way.
How can anything be this beautiful? Not only the Jungfrau, but the villages, the trains, the overall scenery, the people.... Wow.
I did this trip during August when so much snow wasn't there. Amazingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

I was taken on this trip by my parents when we stayed in Wilderswil in the summer of 1960. Trains are more modern (mostly), though the green and cream train to Kleine Schiedegg looked familiar. We still had the wooden-bodied carriages on the Jungfrau line. I remember the trip in the tunnel through the mountain. At aged eleven I couldn't comprehend the engineering feat in building this railway, it seemed just like a long journey on the London Underground! But the view from the halfway station was like nothing I'd seen before! I began to feel the effects of the altiitude near the top, but I still have some black and white photos of my parents and myself in the snow at the summit. We enjoyed many other trips on the Bernese Oberland Bahn during the week we were there, and the little railway from Wilderswil to Schynige Platte.Thank you for recalling happy memories!

I have visited this place twice; it is really a heaven on earth.
Did this trip about 20 years ago. Started in Milan early in the morning and mad it to the Jungfrau around 2 in the afternoon. Three separate trains from Interlaken to the Jungfrau. It was late September and the weather was much better. One of the best train rides in the world.

Spent second week of a Swiss holiday with my parents in Wilderswil in 1960. Loved the BOB trains, then in the old livery of purplish brown and cream. We explored the whole system, including the trip to Jungfraujoch, and the little rack line to Schynige Platte. Fantastic memories

I did this trip in February 1985 on my honeymoon (with my first wife). Spectacular views from the top although it was very cold (-21°C)

Went there a few years ago,I was very lucky as it was really clear,the view was awesome and the ice caves were amazing.I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves mountains.

When I went to Jungfraujoch it was perfectly sunny and within minutes a big storm moved in.
Is that noise the wind up there?

I visted this same area of the Bernese Oberland Switzerland in 1985, I was only 23 at the time. I stayed in Grindalwald at Hotel Tschuggen Garni for 3 weeks owned by the Ruoff- Bernet family. The observatory was there, but many of the other buildings up the top looking down on to the ice glacier were under construction, amazing to think they can build in such a windswept area.
Some where I still have the book by Ueli Roth on the Eiger Nord wand about all the early climbers that climbed the Eiger north face. From Auckland, New Zealand, South Pacific.

Oh my! I had a school holiday in Switzerland in 1966 and we did this journey. I have an idea the view wasn't as good as the weather was bad. I am so pleased you posted this so I could see it properly

We went to Jungfrau in Autumn, 2014. I am amazed at the difference in the shadow cast by the Eiger in the different seasons.
Great footage, you captured everything really well. Kleine Scheidegg sure gets snowed in during winter. There was hardly any snow around when we were there (Oktober).
Rode this train many years ago. Top of mountain was completely fogged in. Could not see a thing! Now I see what I missed. I missed a spectacular view! Thanks for posting video!

I stayed at a beautiful air b&b in Wilderswil and did the exact trip as you. Wilderswil is a beautiful city and all the people are nice.

Years ago I visited the Bernese Oberland often, having been there on holidays in childhood, and I always thought it beautiful beyond belief and the air the cleanest and clearest on earth.

About eight months back I had travelled by this train. The video does not show the change of train at Kleine Scheidegg. Before reaching Jungefraujoch, there is an observation deck to see the glacier. I could see only an all pervasive white glare. On the contrary at the peak, due to snow fall, nothing could be seen of the surroundings. This video shows me what I missed then. Thanks! There’s an excellent Indian restaurant couple of levels below the peak. One can taste authentic Indian food, all prepared by European chefs! The place is a marvel of civil and railway engineering.👌🏻

we have a hill just as high in our back yard.. it is called hood although no one lives there and you can't take a train up there it is just as beautiful of a view... thanks for the show!

White snow, white European types, beautiful blue sky, great food, scenery and cold weather. Doesn't look like Kansas Toto or for that matter South Georgia USA where I reside. I like it.

When I discovered Lauterbrunnen many years ago, when it got dark I could not believe what I saw from my "Hotel Oberland" window in the dark with trains coming down from Wengen !
Next day investigated and went up to Klein Scheidegg, amazing views.
Since then been back many times, taking my children skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. It's my favorite Skiing Resort, but (2018) has now got prohibitively expensive with the exchange rate £/Swiss Franc
Unfortunately I don't think they now allow you to take your bike on the train, shame as the ride down to Grindelwald and Zweilütschinen is amazing.
Looks like you got the 'early bird' Special, hence no skiers on runs at that time, including me !
Without any commentary I would add that the first stop from Klein Scheidegg is at the Eiger "Nord Wand" North Face, where the spoil from the tunnel was dumped, and originally had an open viewing gallery. However this was 'glassed in' as considered unsafe. It has been a recovery point for many climbers on the North Face. The next stop is at Eismeer railway station (German for Ice Sea) to view the Glacier.
From the summit you are looking down on the Aletsch Glacier, the largest in the Alps at 14 miles long, but shrinking every year due to the process of coming out of the last Ice Age 12,000 years ago, relatively recently in Earth History. I am not a 'Preacher' but believe that in another 12,000 years we will be receding back to that, and no matter what the human race by then is capable of it will be unable to stop or slow down natural forces.
I hope other people will read this and like me will (75¼ years old) have seen changes in climate, but not blame it on "my petrol/diesel car"
Look at the Mountains and we are puny ants in comparison.

I am very sorry my English is not good, but appreciate very much you could make some suggests of what to do in Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Last December I spent two days in Grindelwald when I discovered Lauterbrunnen, it was so amazing for me that I want to go back someday because sadly two dsys were not enough, although Switzerland is a very very expensive country for mexican wages like mine, even more to go up those beautiful mountains. So, I appreciate you could explain me about a good place to stay, not very expensive and well located.
