Our fourth studio album, "The Art Of War", was the genesis of a whole new era for Sabaton. It marked the start of our entry into the realm of concept albums and it was the first release that took listeners on a cohesive and thematic journey through history. I think what's crazy about this album is that most of the songs could be a single and have their own high production music video. When it comes to The Art of War, there are only two types of songs: 1) great songs that blow your mind, and 2) even greater songs that blow your mind all the more as you wonder just how in the hell they still had the creative juices during the making of this album to keep coming up with this many amazing ideas and putting out banger after banger. If you think it's an insult that I say that some songs are in the #1 category, I disagree. This album is a roller-coaster ride of masterful songwriting and performances due to those 2 tiers, and the #2 songs punch you all the harder because of those #1 songs. And as I said before, every song is great. And Sabaton's great is superior to that of most other bands. The Art of War is phenomenal. The narration, the keyboard playing by Daniel Mÿhr that made past albums SO uniquely atmospheric and really drove home the concept of taking us back in time to learn, and so many other things I don't have time to mention . . . Just wonderful.
@@Johnny-Space brother sun zu did not invent fucking war or strategy he wrote a damn book about it. Also why are you being aggressive like he is is saying he knows more
When I hear Art of War, I think this is my favorite song of the album. Then I listen to 40:1 and think: no, this is my favorite, my first song to hear from Sabaton, so many memories with this one. Then Unbreakable: wow, this is so undarated, I love it so much! But than comes The Cliffs of Gallipoli: yes, this is my favorite song! I can go on and on, but you get it. 😄
Every time she speaks in Europa Universalis 4, war will break out and it's amazing. It fits with all the themes then the art of war plays. This hits hard when you play as Ming Dynasty.
Let's go! It's so nice seeing it uploaded here, it really brings back memories. Cliffs of Gallipoli were my introduction to Sabaton, and I loved it so much I literally didn't listen to anything else for two weeks. Now I'm still here and can't imagine my playlists without Sabaton anymore!
Thanks for all your songs! In this way we learn a lot about the wars that we didn't know about before. They provide inspiration to engage with world events. 👍
Genuinely my favorite album by far. Thanks for the full uninterrupted thing sabaton! (Also since I couldn't catch the first one another tour to Houston Texas wouldn't be that bad would it? 🤔)
I've read 'The Art of War' a few times. Here's what Sun Tzu would say about some of these songs; Sun Tzu said: "The General that harkens to my counsel and acts upon it, will conquer; Let such a one be retained in command! The general that harkens not to my counsel nor acts upon it, will suffer defeat; let such a one be dismissed! Ghost Division: "Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected" 40:1; "Though an obstinate fight may be made by a small force, in the end it must be captured by the larger force".
Man, I absolutely LOVE all of your music. The mix of history and the style of music is so good! I was so happy to be able to attend a live concert. Keep rockin on!
Sabaton yall changed my life back in 2012 when I found the song ghost division and I love all y’all’s songs but my four favorites are race to the sea, Wehrmacht, in the name of god and dreadnought and I can’t thank you all enough for the memories of your bangers of albums
i may know a lot of your songs , i may don’t know ALL of your songs . and doesn’t matter how gorgeous your songs are , the swedish anthem gave me goosebumps as hell ❤
Swedish National Anthem, was the secret track? O.o Iv'e just realized that you didn't hear Swedish Pagans in the stream 😄 Aaand Glorious Land. Thats it.
Ah the perfect album to listen to when having a game of tabletop warfare. But I also wonder will these legends of metal do a cover of rocket jump waltz?
It's not often that there is an album, that is not a collection of "greatest hits", that only has bangers sans one. Not having to skip tracks is a rare treat.
REVIEWING Sabaton's albums chronologically so far: I have to say, having been binging Sabaton's albums in order from earliest to the latest one they've done the listening party for (Art of War), I have to say that this has to be nearly the prime for Sabaton, perhaps to be surpassed by Carolus Rex a few years later (I shall review it once we get to that point with the Sabaton Listening Parties). Fist for Fight and Metalizer was the most raw and showed how Sabaton got their start. Primo Victoria was a strong start into their foray of historical songs. While the middle portion of the album was weaker, I think Primo Victoria's songs are all mostly solid, if not yet excellent and more technically and artistically proficient. Plus the perfect ending with Metal Machine. Next Attero Dominatus was a huge step-up in terms of songwriting and playing ability. And the songs were better produced. However, I have to say this album also lost it's pacing at times in the middle, with quite good but perhaps skippable songs. Overall, I think these first two war-themed albums never really had great cohesion as "albums", which means you wouldn't be as likely to want to listen song after song. Maybe you could make a playlist of "best of" from each album, or categorize the songs depending on what mood you're in to listen. The Art of War, in comparison, blows these albums out of the water with it's sheer force and momentum song after song. While some may be dismayed by the style of these songs changing from their Attero Dominatus days, I don't think the change is too drastic nor too out of what most fans of Sabaton have liked. I'd say it's more like this is where Sabaton got their groove in songwriting for songs that we now recognize as the Sabaton sound. After all, this is the album where most of their popular songs are found, and each song is unique and musically diverse in a great way. Not to mention the best singing by Joakim thus far in Sabaton's history! Alas, no "Metal" song, but this album's concept as following Sun Tzu's "Art of War" really is a milestone for Sabaton's progress as a band. At the moment, I've gone ahead and listened only to the Coat of Arms album just for comparison. I must admit I liked that album more in the past, but now compared to Art of War, it really is more hit or miss with the album's cohesion. I'll see if I can find more value to it in the next month up to the next Listening Party, but as an album I think it's a step back, even if it has a greater refined songwriting with killer hits like "White Death" and "Uprising" (last note: I must admit that I think the sound of their songs in this album changed a lot more in ways I didn't think were as engaging, musically speaking. But in many ways, it's what led to the modern Sabaton sound that they've had since Carolus Rex. I haven't heard that album in some time now, so when I get to it I'll make my opinion more secure. Anyway, Art of War is great! Gonna listen to it again for the 10th time this month. 🤣
You forgot the joke track on this album. I don't think anyone has done like it before or since. And it perfectly complements the corresponding chapter in Sun-Tzu.
Odin, Allfather We pray to you in this hour to ensure we have the strength to conquer our enemies, to protect our family and our lands, and to stand strong in the face of hardship and oppression! Guide our hearts, in a way that makes our ancestors proud!
Look, I know this comment's probably not going to get any attention, and the chances this happens are slim regardless, but... I would be eternally grateful if you guys and Judas Priest pulled off a duet of All Guns Blazing in New Jersey next week. I'm a huge fan, and my dad's been a Judas Priest fan for years, and we're getting together to see The Invincible Shield tour before I deploy later this year. It'd mean a lot.
This outro track title "A Secret" is about the joking music piracy described as "It is a serious crime to pirating music videos" and the lyrics says "Illegal download detected, executing spyware protocol 666" but everyone has a panic about piracies.
@Sabaton Are you guys planning to make a song for the new *Warhorse Studios* game (or are you already working on it)? The Manowar cover for *"Kingdom Come: Deliverance"* was just epic! The world needs more of that!
@zigsynx5364 They make music about wars that have already ended. The band talks about it briefly. It is educational history and not a musical news program.

ALL HAIL SABATON THE LORDS OF METAL AND HISTORY

Standing ovation. Thank you Sabaton for more great history inspired music.
30:22 I will never tire of this song 👌🏻
Has anyone ever said it?
The female voice that speaks to the individual songs sounds wonderful. A big thank you to this lady! 💐
Every time she speaks in Europa Universalis 4, war will break out and it's amazing. It fits with all the themes then the art of war plays. This hits hard when you play as Ming Dynasty.
SUN TZU = WAR
One of my alltime favourites to listen to. So energetic and versatile, and never fails to have the right amount of poetry. 🖤
Amazing album!! My favorite song, on this CD, 40:1, Ghost Disivion, The Art Of War, Panzerkampt and Swedish Pagans❤❤🤘🏼🤘🏼🖤🖤
really good ones

10 hours the art of war by sun tzu in left ear, the art of war album by sabaton in right ear
Duct tape to seat and play (Insert grand strategy game here)
finally something i can play on my television and listen to while I do house chores 🤘🏼🔥
Absolutely iconic album, isn't a single song on there that I wouldn't consider memorable
If I had a penny for every official full album video for the art of war, I'd have 2 pennies, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice
Thanks for all your songs!
In this way we learn a lot about the wars that we didn't know about before.
