“We will not shall live or days, wondering if we could’ve saved more.” was such a beautiful line. What incredibly written show. My god. I got absolutely CHILLS AND EMOTIONs FROM THAT.
with the additional irony of Rogue finally being able to physically touch Gambit but no longer being able to feel his love or emotional presence totally heartbreaking!
When Rogue touches someone, she literally feels their memories and thoughts in her head, as well as powers if they’re mutants. The fact that she can’t feel anything from him is just to hammer home that there’s nothing there to feel/absorb from him. He’s dead.
That line from night crawler: There is no love without sin. For love is measured against how many sins you can forgive. Or something like that. Right up there with Vision's line about love and grief
Seeing Nightcrawler return with Adrian Hough voicing him again was awesome! I really liked the story they told here with Rouge and Gambit here now that Magneto has kind of upended their lives and relationship. And that ending eas insane. "Sugar... I can't feel you " That line hit me like a truck.
When the song at the Gala started playing I kept wondering why it was so familiar until it became more menacing and Madelyn Pryor had her psychic flash. It was the music from her vision in Gyrichs head! Chefs kiss to details. This episode was dark, wild, and officially one of my favorite x-men episodes of any X-Men series
Seems like her vision wasn't so much a premonition under her own power, but accessing Cable's memories via her connection to baby Nathan (and Gyrich's plan tying into it).
The nerve of Jean being upset with Scott for having a long distance conversation with his baby's mama while she was kissing on Logan. The drama in this show is top notch.
Madelyne kissed him like they had been doing that way before That's what made Jean pissed And thats the thing that made her interrupt their scene Jea is clearly confused due to her memories too so she isn't really mentally okay either It's a mess for all 3 that's really non of their fault
As someone who grew up on the original X-Men series, comics, and Ace of Base, this episode could have peaked when Happy Nation came on and I would have been happy. And then it just kept getting better.
Never heard of Ace of Base before this episode but ive been playingHappy Nation on repeat since i watched this episode. Whoever put that song in the soundtrack for this episode needs a raise because the whole sequence when that song was playing was amazing
@29:30 to be fair to the journalist, she didnt know they had lost their son, thats why when Cyclops said he had no children she was surprised and said she had saw the file
It has generally an equivalent meaning, yeah. But it literally translates differently. German is a very specific and precise language. What he literally said was “Have no fear”.
so glad to see Gambit finally flex his powers to their full potential. it’s such an interesting power set and he’s always held himself back, so seeing him go all out like that was so satisfying
not his full. Gambit became omega level in the comics... not sure if it will happen here. Im thinking it may, cause they cant be killing gambit off so soon.
Yeah, it's nice to be reminded every once in a while that he's actually one of the most scarily competent X-men when he decides to drop the charm for a bit.
The bittersweet thing is that Maddie probably died in the attack - but her last thought was to recognise that her son had survived his viral infection. At least she got to meet her son before she died.
jfc that last line from Rogue hit like an absolute freight train…went from perfectly stable and just a lil upset but enjoying a normal episode, to instant tears and sobbing in a single sentence. Wildly good direction.
When they said they were bringing back X-Men animated series, I never thought in a million years they'd go to this level production. This is giving me phase 2 vibes, MCU is back. 😢👏🏽👏🏽
I noticed the reference with Cyclops, Madelyne Pryor's psychic entanglement with Jean Grey finding out, kinda like that whole drama with Cyclops, Jean, and Emma Frost from the comics. But this time, they switched it up with Madelyne instead of Emma. And Emma's knowing smirk? Total psychic power move, like she's got the inside scoop on everything
What an episode… first thing in the morning this sure as hell woke me up. We know Cable is involved so there will be timeline changes which most likely bring Magneto and Gambit back as I can’t imagine they’d kill of Magneto and Gambit, Magneto alone is too large a character for the story and the entire plot of the shows return with him taking Prof X’s place to just kill off.
"Happy Nation" is the song played for the dance, and its by Ace of Base. I feel INCREDIBLY old saying this, but that was my JAM as a teen girl back in the late 90s.
I am in shock. I have goosebumps on my arms. The attention to detail, the echo of sound from the sentinel, the use of Gambits power, the German language and I believe hebrew, the reflection in motorcycle mirror, the eyes capturing the dispair. The emotion felt. I dont know what to say. It was truly the most amazing. I cant put words together
@@Spideymrw pretty much figured something big was about to happen from episode one when they named Genosha. Knowing its fate in the comics, I immediately thought, *"Well this isn't going to end well!"* and sure enough they wasted no time getting to the massacre. The way it played out I suspect Cable and time travel are going to give it a redo though, ending with a different outcome than the comics side of things. Here's hoping.
@@RUclipsWatcher264 in the comics genosha was bombarded by sentinels. So, I don't think a reset is happening. I think magneto and those in his sphere survived, cause they didn't show bodies.
I swear, the writers deserve some f**king awards! Especially the deliveries of Magneto's quotes throughout the series! He said things that made you want to side with him because it made sense and the points he made when saying it
I want this exact thing in live action. But it might be impossible, that's how insanely good the visuals in this episode were. The music, the tone, the character development, the action, the story, holy shit.
@@cable7152 live action wishes it could be this good. It just can't compare visually to animation. Live action is held back by the fact that it has to look real.
This is such a tonal shift from last episode, but absolutely impactful stuff. I thought it was a good choice to have Scott lose control during the interview as it sets up the later events of the decimation of Genosha. Mutants have to try and appease humans time and time again, yet they are never truly accepted as an equal sapient being. It was honestly quite hard to watch the attack on Genosha as it felt like a real terrorist attack. So many feels and emotions. And I also loved the Scott/Madelyne storyline as they deal with the loss of Nathan. I completely understood the “mind cheating.” They both lost a son and Scott knows for sure that Madelyne was the one who carried Nathan in her womb for nine months. He has a lot of pain from when his father abandoned him, and being forced to do that with his own son was very traumatic for him. I think that psychic cheating with Madelyne made so much sense and is an example of a deviation from the source material that actually feels earned and opens up interesting possibilities. It feels so at home given this story. On another note, Wolverine showed a lot of maturity by telling Jean that she “just forgot the rules for a sec.” He didn’t take advantage of her at all. Good stuff. I’m not big on a lot of romance drama because it usually seems cheap, but I actually thought it was handled well here. Everyone made sense as to why they had such turbulent romantic feelings to the point where it felt earned. The X-Men is very soap operatic, so I get that it needs to be done. I thought they handled it well enough to not be annoying. Watching Rogue’s journey from lamenting not being able to touch Gambit to kissing Magneto and realizing that “some things are deeper than skin” to holding Gambit’s lifeless body in her arms was soul crushing 😭. She ended up losing both of her paramours. And Magneto speaking german to Leech as they were about to die 😭😭😭 This is some of the best work that Marvel has put out and hopefully the MCU can handle the X-Men like this. Can’t wait for the next episode.
Funnily enough, although it looks like a tonal shift from what Beau said about this episode it makes total sense. Beau links this episode to the effects of experiencing the shock of 09/11 growing up. Deeper than that, though, is how he connects the Genosha storyline to the real world attack on the gay club Pulse, where he used to go back in the day. Dozens of gay men died at that attack, and Beau really managed to make the Genosha attack feel more personal on the cartoon than it was in the comics. So, the Motendo episode according to him is about the way Jubilee had to grow up, leave the nostalgia behind, and deal with the real world, just like he was forced to grow up after these traumatic experiences. In this way, although it looks like a tonal shift, Motendo was sort of in the perfect spot before this episode.
I was crying, but seeing Rouge say “I can’t feel you” while holding him I just.. can’t I’ll never gonna be able to watch this season without crying ever
This epsiode was so gut wrenching. It was Infinity War meets Empire Strikes Back. They highlighted Gambit, Rogue and Magneto so well as we get to see the pain, suffering, anguish, happiness through their lens. Also the cameo with Beau DeMayo felt like a sad sendoff almost feeling so meta. The ending scene with Chris Potter this time voicing Cable instead of Gambit was a nice change. He does sound little like Josh Brolin.
On Gambit: I think that part of his lore is that he is actually an Omega-level mutant. But out of fear of his own powers (based on a future timeline where he destroys everything), he intentionally has Sinister limit his abilities. All-time favourite Marvel vs Capcom character, all-time favourite X-Men
Yup! In an alternate future, he becomes the New Sun. His abilities are super crazy. Remy eventually is able to beat his future counterpart, and as you said, had Sinister weaken his abilities so that he'd never become that villain.
Here we go again with the Gambit is omega level. Give it up already. He was alpha at best. He wasn't one in the past and he still isn't in the present. Even the Hickman's reboot which literally made the omega level classification so cheap and meaningless didn't include him on the list.
Nuff respect, you did your homework. Remy always had a big heart and he rather keep things simple than have all the attention of home. He always the one to get blame but honestly more loyal than a dog. He can take a L and still win😊
@@dxnny2727Scroll the XM97 episode to 20 mins 40 seconds or right before and you'll catch his silhouette in the sky right before the first firework goes up before the gala kicks off.
Weird how that translated it though. It means “have no fear” - not “don’t be afraid”. The sentiment is equivalent. But it literally means “have no fear”.
It still breaks my heart. Calls back to the 2nd episode when Magneto promised Leech he would never be afraid again. And I can’t imagine the weight of guilt for sending them to Genosha, believing they would be safe there.
You guys laughed so much during all the heartbreaking moments that I was half expecting you two to burst into laughter and high-five each other after Rogue's last line.
Gambit was my favorite from episode 1. Glad to see I had the right judgment. He went out like a warrior saving people and showcasing his power incrediblely. He's so cool and powerful in my eyes.
@@jaimepe4765Jean and Maddie’s psychic shock was a memory from Cable who already lived the event. In Episode 1, when using Cerebro, Maddie (thinking she’s Jean still) awakes in a barren wasteland, and a face in the wind flies towards her saying “not again”. This is what Cable said in this episode. Jean and Maddie got the psychic feedback because even though Maddie is his mother, she and Jean are identical and biologically share a connection to Cable.
Gambit was a very important x men memorable. Honestly, it made me take in a shock this way that such an emotional and overwhelming and broken moment came to pass. And seriously, Rogue was in his last moments.😭😭😭
The way Cable said "No, not again" right before he got sucked back in through time makes me think he's been at this trying to go further & further back in time to stop the catastrophe. We might get a future episode where where it shows from Cables perspective, him time traveling repeatedly until he finally can warn the people of Genosha & stop whats to come.

I dont think he is dead. Probably a coma. That blast should have vaporize him... but it being his energy that caused the blast, I feel the negation of self harm from ones power is taking affect here. Just like how cyclops and havok cant hurt each other with their blasts.
Only without Cassandra Nova. A lot of the adapted comic arcs have been changed and streamlined really well, and I think they work a lot better. Especially the Inferno arc. They saved Scott from being a deadbeat Dad that abandoned Maddie and Nathan for months overnight when he found out Jean was alive. I think the show portrays the stories better than they were in the comics.
Whats always been amazing about this show is that it always felt like this. It always felt mature, it always had crazy stuff happening in episodes. I can not wait for the next one. Its astounding the way they brought this back. The hype is real af for me
He kissed Madelyn in the astral plane too though, not to mention he said he'd still been talking to her for months. It'd be different if they still had their kid, but they don't.
I don’t think y’all understand toxicity which makes sense. she was just told the most romantic thing that she needed to hear and kissed the man who delivered the thing she needed to hear. That’s not toxic.
The amount of feels in this episode. Any time a group of people just tries to exist feeling happy and safe following all of the rules they're asked to; "oh to play by their rules and still they come for you" indeed. 😶 Gambit's self sacrifice for the people he loves broke my heart, but then also had me calling out Rexplode with "THIS IS HOW YOU AVENGE FALLEN FRIENDS WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE AND MAKE THINGS EXPLODE: TAKE THE KILLER WITH YOU". (I know Rex lived, but like that's a Grey's Anatomy universe level fluke)
22:21 gambit has always been badass. Hes been in a lot of fights that they won. Maybe not because of him but he was apart of that winning strategy. Cant believe they went there. After reading Kevin Feige’s emails from the Sony Hack, plus knowing his great contributions to the original X-Men films & now seeing how great this show is, I think it’s safe to say Kevin really *gets* mutants. I trust he will make sure the new live action X-Men will be stellar 👍
I really hope the onlyfans rumors aren't true. That's not a reason to fire someone. It's much easier to find nudes of several Disney actors than it is to find nudes of Beau DeMayo. A lot of talent has a history of actual wrongdoing and the list of famous people with onlyfans accounts is pretty long. Demonizing people for sex work is outdated, but I hear his onlyfans wasn't even explicit. It was mostly just a hot guy with muscles in sexy outfits.
I’m surprised nobody is talking about Magneto and Rogue’s dynamic. Notice how when they first met he’s placed on a “throne” and then he mentors hers. He sees how much she admires him too. Also how the only thing connecting them is touch. Every time they talk he enters her personal space. I feel like he knows that only reason for her to come back to him is physical contact. I think during the gala Gambit’s word finally rang true for Rogue. I think was able to free herself from Magneto’s touch.
This is the greatest depiction of an X-Men story on screen like ever. Certainly one of the best scripted TV moments of the past decade. Incredible triumph. And Professor X's last words to Gambit in TAS are hitting like a mack truck now: "How often must the scoundrel prove himself a hero before he believes it himself."
Legion would've turned that super sentinel into a bowl of soup and ate that shit. I thought Coy was a big comicbook guy, Erg wears a freaking eye patch.

And Magneto speaking german to Leech as they were about to die 😭😭😭
This is some of the best work that Marvel has put out and hopefully the MCU can handle the X-Men like this.
Can’t wait for the next episode.
This is definitely a test run for the MCU.
It hit me the same way, as suddenly I felt like I was experiencing a real life attack and my body couldn't get rid of that emotion
last episode was following two separate different story arc. This episode was also a separate 2 story arcs.

MvC: royal flush.

Dude, every time that someone would say that the nowadays MCU is dead, I´ll show this clip, perfect, just perfect
X men 97 isn't apart of the mcu
Yeah i think its more like marvel animation having its own thing while mcu still doing something
that’s just it, this isn’t the mcu. let’s see how they do they x men 💀
The mcu died with iron Man mate and even before that it was dying. Alsó xmen animation is nőt mcu
XM97 is from Marvel Animation. It clearly shows that in the intro. Also, the show runner who unfortunately was fired had already said in an interview that XM97 is in its own shared universe along with the Marvel/Fox animation properties of the 90s. It's not part of the MCU. Thank the Phoenix for that. I don't want the present MCU to ruin this masterpiece.
lol when Magneto and Rogue sky danced the music playing turned it from Disney+ to Skinemax 😂😂😂
Cable tells them to turn off the music, so they could hear the explosions over the fireworks, as the island was already being attacked.
This episode actually made me cry, which I’m a grown ass man and that is saying something
same bro, don't feel to bad. Im right there with you.
@@prew_gaming I don’t feel bad but I did not expect that much to be packed into a 22 minute episode
They did so well with the writing on this episode. Seeing Gambit and Rogue smiling at the beginning with Kurt lightheartedly teleporting them all over the place, then seeing Madeline’s reunion with Cable only for things to go south immediately after… Phew. An emotional rollercoaster this one was! And the requiem version of the Intro Theme playing at the end… 😫😭🤧
Men can cry
@@lchanceivTo be fair, if this had aired with commercial breaks, it would have been 45 minutes, not a half hour. It's an XL episode and they use every second.
Glad that the dialog has got better. They way these characters talk about love is quite deep and beautiful.
Madeline wasn't snooping, Madeline was the "Jean" talking to Scott in that scene, and Jean caught them.
Yep. Was clear that way.
