The irony that Zote's precepts prevented his rescue
It seems you'll have to read all of the 57 precepts again and learn them from memory. That's not Zote, that's a reflection dummy 🤭

Illegitimate run. Precept 15: "One foe, one blow". There were multiple foes you used multiple blows on. This can be solved, however, with precept 33: "Show the enemy no respect". You can mod the game to give yourself infinite damage so you can follow precept 15.

If we go off percept 33 we could theoretically just beat the game normally and we would be fine. Because showing no respect would just be following his rules.

@@smoothiepop2253 Have you ever had an intrusive thought? You know, where your brain gives you some horrible thought you'd never do for no clear reason? Zote's statue is like that.
Also, in spite of being unable to fight, Zote can survive Hallownest better than almost every other traveler, so it may just be that the dream version is similarly difficult to get rid of. I doubt he did it personally, since he doesn't ever dream, and shows no signs of having any latent dream magic.
It's there because Zote is better than he seems. He can survive where most can't, only failing to make his way against the Vengefly King, the hordes of Deepnest, and the warriors of the colosseum, and he's absurdly tough, surviving a beating from Ghost better than the elite soldiers of hallownest, but because he's ass at direct combat, he doesn't get a place among the gods.
Precept 49 states "Statues are Meaningless.
Do not honor them! No one has ever made a statue of you or I, so why should we pay them any attention?" statues are meaningless to him because they are not of him. Therefore, he would honor one of himself.
would love to see a 57% speedrun which is just like any% but you have to obey the precepts
Would have to use glass canon mod as precept 15 is One Foe, One Blow.
And it would have to be hitless as Precept 25 is always protect your weak point. Which your whole body is.
If you get 57% exactly 1 hour is taken off the run

One of the precepts is to not be afraid. So in Zote's case, being horrified would be a violation of his own precepts.

I can already tell this is gonna be great, especially with chat saying how it was definitely the first try in the beginning!
The first try was because of the intro, they were muted for almost 5 minutes while the Zote humming played out on the background so Skurry had to do all the intro and explanations about the run all over again

I absolutely love how they left Zote and Bretta to die in the precept% speedrun
I can’t believe the precepts are functional in gameplay. I know what I’m doing next play through
One Foe, One Blow. Therefore if it takes multiple blows to defeat an opponent, that opponent is actually just several smaller opponents.
The best part of this is how twitchy the Zote skin is. It really fits perfectly.
What I’ve realised watching this is that most of Zote’s precepts are actually not half bad advice
