This is probably my favorite desert to make, it’s really quick And easy to make and I LOVE chewy stuff. I also love how you can just put your own thing to it like adding vanilla extract or cocoa powder or if you want it warm or cold. It’s really nice that after you’ve eaten some, and you what to eat later, you just put it in the fridge and eat the rest later. It’s just overall the best desert to make. It’s also really good how the proportions are so good, it’s not too sweet like a cake (I hate most cakes) and it’s not not sweet, also the amount you make is perfect. if it’s for two people you will have leftovers to freeze and eat later. If it’s 3 people, you can give each person 2 (which is the perfect amount to eat) and if it’s like a party then they’ll just eat it nice and warm. Thank you for telling people about this on RUclips
just did it with my little brother and we both love it 💖💖 he has tons of allergies and therefore has to be picky when it comes to food but he can eat this one and loves it a lot 💖
I was wondering why mine didn’t have the same elasticity in texture, and it turns out there was a difference in using rice flour vs. glutinous rice flour 😆 I used the former, so I’ll re-try this recipe again using the proper flour.

@@A-Fishy-Potato the person is talking about when your hungry hippo siblings eat all the sweets and you are craving something so you make whats in the video.
I tried out this recipe and it came out better then I expected for a first try. No problems using corn starch if you don't have potato starch. It was still pretty sticky though I think it was because I did not cook it long enough that it did not come together in one nice lump like in the video as mine (0:52) was taking quite a while (7min+) to form a cohesive dough (0:55) and seemed to be cooking on to the pan sooner than it would form the clean ball. (and my arm was about to fall off from constantly stirring the sticky dough to keep it from cooking on) I ended up rolling it in to small balls after cooling and cutting the dough using mochi powder (1:1 corn starch & icing sugar) to solve the excess stickiness, or just use corn/potato starch (it's tasteless) to dust if it is already sweet enough. Will definitely try this recipe again.
@@gimmeyourkneecapsnow741 I just tried it out too and I used the regular basic flour and regular corn starch and it worked too! Although mine came out less white because my sugar is not completely white :)
Yeah I tried normal flour and potato startch, became wayyy more sticky than what I saw here :( and pretty sure I can only get normal non-glutinous rice flour here
Really nice after a spicy meal! I used half corn starch and half tapioca starch. It did stick to the pot quite a bit, but I used hot water and it came off pretty easily.
I followed the recipe exactly except I substituted eggs for the rice flour and ham for the starch, and I left out the sugar and cocoa. It turned out great! Thanks for posting. Definitely a new family favorite!
I love how there are so many similarities in different cultures. I bet this tastes similar to what we call "Chalimidi", a Andhra (South Indian state) dessert. Just that we add dry coconut, cashews etc fried in clarifier butter.
It looks amazing. I made this at home here are some tips. You can use corn starch if you don't have potato starch don't leave it in the fridge for too long or it becomes hard (few hours max) My sister and dad loved it but I didn't like it that much but its easy to make and amazing ty!
Season the shit out of it with oil. Massage oil into it, put it into the oven on max heat for 10 mins, repeat for 4 times. No more sticky pan. If it's rough though try smoothen it out with an pot cleaning abraisive spongy thing and clean it off with oil before seasoning it. put the thing 30 mins in and start seasoning. Congrats your sticky pan is non sticky. Enjoy.
I made this, and it was pretty good! Instead of rice flour and potato starch, I used all purpose flour and corn startch. At the beginning I really thought that it wouldn't work, but as I kept stirring it got more lumpy and my frown was lifted!! Its way squisier and stickier than I thought it would be, so I would recommend using chopsticks like in the video. My fingers got pretty sticky afterwards, but it was worth it. Thank you for the tutorial! 7/10 would eat again
I just tried this receipe, it was really easy to make and delicious. Mine had a slightly different texture, maybe because I used corn starch instead of potato starch. Also tried coconut flakes as a topping and found this version also very tasty. Thank you for the receipe and the inspiration. Greetings from Germany.
hello, i also am going to be using corn starch instead of potato starch and am worried it will turn out bad because of the substitution. what was the texture like for you?

For British viewers, I just made this and it tastes exactly like Milk Bottle sweets (which is probably unsurprising because it's milk and sugar). I used cornflour in place of the rice and potato starch
Thanks for sharing, I was planning to make this and it helps to have something to compare it to (to encourage my family to try it). I love milk bottle sweets! What was the texture like in your opinion?
i wrote down the recipe in the comments as well as a substitute im using, hopefully it might come in handy for anyone :] 20g of glutinous rice flour (all purpose flour as a substitute, as i dont have this) 40g of potato starch (corn starch as a substitute, i dont think i have potato starch) 3 tablespoons of sugar (adjustable to your liking) a pinch of salt 200ml of milk a splash of vanilla extract (optional, but it does give more flavor) add all to a pan on low/medium heat and stir until it becomes like the texture in the video, make sure the milk doesn't burn! transfer to a plate when it has reached the correct texture and shape, then put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. cut into bite sized pieces and sprinkle some cocoa powder on top for extra flavor. enjoy :]
How did it turn out? I feel like those types of flour aren’t really interchangeable, glutinous rice flour creates a very specific texture. Sort of smooth and very sticky. I’d be interested to know what the result would be with those substitutions.
I got inspired and made it! I used regular flower and corn starch and it still turned out okay! Tastes pretty good and texture is nice as well. It stuck to the frying pan quite a lot but it was okay because I made scrambled eggs in the same pan after and it made the eggs have a nice sweetness and some milk cake squishiness too. It sounds weird but it was good!
This helps a lot more cause i was gonna use cornstarch and I had negative thoughts about it but now I have positive thoughts thank you! I’ll just spray cooking joy on the pan to make it less sticky I’m gonna make it as a snack today for school thank you!
I know this is a bit odd but I am a huge lover of matcha so I decided to put my own spin on this recipe. Since you could kneed/shape this into whatever you want, I made them into balls, squished them out, added matcha on it, then folded it so the matcha was inside. I also tried this with Nutella for my baby brother and he loved it! Please note not to add too much because these flavors can be over bearing and just ruin the feel of it. While cooking it I also added a little bit of vanilla extract and it tasted quite nice!

(and my arm was about to fall off from constantly stirring the sticky dough to keep it from cooking on)
I ended up rolling it in to small balls after cooling and cutting the dough using mochi powder (1:1 corn starch & icing sugar) to solve the excess stickiness, or just use corn/potato starch (it's tasteless) to dust if it is already sweet enough.
Will definitely try this recipe again.
To get the dough to form faster, turn up the heat

i wrote down the recipe in the comments as well as a substitute im using, hopefully it might come in handy for anyone :]
20g of glutinous rice flour (all purpose flour as a substitute, as i dont have this)
40g of potato starch (corn starch as a substitute, i dont think i have potato starch)
3 tablespoons of sugar (adjustable to your liking)
a pinch of salt
200ml of milk
a splash of vanilla extract (optional, but it does give more flavor)
add all to a pan on low/medium heat and stir until it becomes like the texture in the video, make sure the milk doesn't burn!
transfer to a plate when it has reached the correct texture and shape, then put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
cut into bite sized pieces and sprinkle some cocoa powder on top for extra flavor. enjoy :]
Thank you 😊
This is so helpful, thank you so much!
Tysmmm this was really helpful for me🥰

How did it turn out? I feel like those types of flour aren’t really interchangeable, glutinous rice flour creates a very specific texture. Sort of smooth and very sticky. I’d be interested to know what the result would be with those substitutions.
I got inspired and made it! I used regular flower and corn starch and it still turned out okay! Tastes pretty good and texture is nice as well. It stuck to the frying pan quite a lot but it was okay because I made scrambled eggs in the same pan after and it made the eggs have a nice sweetness and some milk cake squishiness too.
