Boy this aged well. And Mike Silver calling anyone a miserable failure at head coach when he did nothing but defend Hue Jackson in Cleveland is fucking hilarious.

In professional football...you conveniently left that part out. Roll tide, or whatever it is you morons say.
I mean the dolphins were terrible before he got there, they were basically .500 with him, and they were terrible after he left. I don't see the big deal
OutlawStarkiller but he atleast has them finish with a winning streak . He just needed some time the Dolphins needed more talent on the offense
Exactly.
Nick Saban wasnt a failure in the NFL! He just didnt have the talent on the dolphins. I think had Alabama hadn't pursue him, I think Miami Dolphins would have risen to the level of winning games (he had the coaching staff to rebuild them to win). The gentleman that said he is a failure has no idea what he is talking about!
Ask Jason Taylor his opinion of Saban. Taylor won the NFL defensive player of the year after Saban switched Miami to a 3-4 defense. Taylor admits to questioning that philosophy prematurely. Saban told Taylor he'd be a better DE in a 3-4 and look what happened
Ya, it's not the like the Dolphins have done anything major since Marino
“Small college setting” Bro Death Valley is larger and louder then the Dolphins stadium Lolol

But there ain't no fan base in the world more dedicated than the LSU fans. They show up and show out for the Bayou Bengals. You best believe that! Roll Tide
It’s larger than every NFL stadium
Facts
If he was such a bad coach, why is everyone in Miami still pissed that he left? If he had been given Drew Brees like he wanted in the 05-06 offseason, he probably is still the head coach of the Dolphins.
RollTide1987 because this is all bullshit . None of the LSU or Alabama players or assistant coaches said anything about this guy.
He was a good coach for the phins idk how you expect them to win games with aj feeley and a injured Culpepper . Dude won games with cus ferrote and people say Brees wouldn’t have helped
RollTide1987 That Nick Saban “failed” in the NFL is more of an indictment against the NFL than it is Saban. We’re talking about a workaholic who would pour his life, heart and soul into football wherever he went. I’m convinced Saban could win big at Duke or Vandy. And, he never slammed Miami on the way out. He was dealt a poor hand, forced to put up with Ricky Williams’ drama and not allowed to select his players. And he still left Miami with class.
Sour grapes, especially the half dead, classless, loogie swallowing guy who wants to "throw down" with Saban should he walk through the door.
He is a great College Coach. He Sucks as a NFL Coach. Just like Spurrier. Its funny When he was at LSU All U Gumps Claimed he was overrated. LOL
He wasn’t forced to deal with the Williams drama...he could’ve cut him right away. It was Culpepper’s quarterbacking that was his downfall
Boy, you’d think 15-17 is as bad as it gets. But then you remember most HOF-caliber coaches had worse records through two years. Props to him for abandoning a dysfunctional franchise.
Saban get's Drew Brees..... no telling what type of franchise Miami would have today.
Miami was never going to get Brees. He was wanting to go with Sean Payton. Saban is a defensive guy and would have had nothing to do with him.
Just Do It it's a shame something like an offensive coordinator doesn't exist.
Brees and Saban would not have gotten along and being that Brees would have been their franchise QB and the leader of that team eventually Saban would have been kicked out anyway.

@@brian2440 well no not really.. he didn’t like being in a league where he can’t out work his opponents.. in college he can do that by recruiting.. recruiting is a process of hard work and relationships which he does better then anyone. In the nfl it’s backwards, the best teams get the least draft picks and the worst teams get the best and he didn’t like that.
By abusing kids.
@@papermaker2726 I understand your opinion but I think it was because he didn't choose his own recruits because in the NFL someone else drafts and hires players while the HC gets to work with what they have got. Other than cutting the players HCs don't make those decisions.

Greatest college coach ever tho XD. Pros are a bunch of superficial prima-donnas.
He would’ve been great in the pros, too, if he had stayed there longer, but he had already realized that he liked college better, though, by the time he left the NFL. Of course, the best job in all of college sports happened to be available at that time, too, so there was really no reason not to go ahead and take it, and spend the rest of his career doing what he loved, winning championships in college. I know most people in the NFL agree that he would’ve been a great coach there, too, if that’s where he had wanted to be. That’s why the Dolphins begged him to stay there, and it’s why he got so many offers from other teams over the years to go back, but I guess when you already have the best job in the world, and you love what you do, there’s no reason to leave. I don’t blame him one bit. Roll Tide!
Aaaand now he's the best coach in CFB so...
Nothing wrong with that. He just can't compete at the highest level. He is more suited for hillbilly land in Alabama. Stay away from the highest level of competition in the NFL Nicki.
The Dolphins have one of the worst front offices in the NFL. It's no surprise no one has been able to win since Nick left, and they go through coaches like Gatorade down there. If the GM had gotten Drew Brees like Saban wanted, maybe they would've actually won some games. But if you really think there are fewer hillbillies in 'Bama than there are in Florida, you should probably take a trip through the state sometime. What a douche bag.

Nick Saban was such a bad coach that 15 years later, Dolphins fans are still salty that he left.
It was the way in which he left that’s still sour to many here in South Florida. He blatantly lied to his players, the reporters, and the fans. He insulted Joe Rose and Jim Mandich (two Dolphin Football legends and then, commentators) on his way out and because he took over at Alabama after Mike Shula (Don’s Son) was fired, Nick SATAN was actually banned from recruiting players from a few prominent High Schools here in South Florida for a few years. What made it even worse was that Jim Mandich died in 2011. It was like pouring salt into an open wound which never healed.

If he will screw a team over and lie abut it in the process what makes you think that you or your team are any better? I'm not a "hater" as you say, but a realist, knowing that this type of behavior is not something that just "goes away". Paul "Bear" Bryant was TWICE the man that Nick Saban is.
Ma007rk This wasn't a discussion on who was the bigger man. When it comes to who was the better coach, it's hands down Saban. It's a lot harder and more competitive to coach now, than it was back then.

+Mikeys Happy Also he was a failure in the NFL 15-17, in case you can't count that's a losing record.
Problem with people that are jealous of someone else is that they make themselves feel bigger by putting other people down.He also has won 3 national championship at Alabama and I Sir can count.
+Mikeys Happy 3 Championships at Alabama does not an NFL coach make. Let me know when he can win a Division Championship on the pro-level, until then he's a good minor league coach.
Funny how the Miami Dolphin's organization wasn't this pissed off when we hired Mike Shula away from them back in 2003.
Unfortunately Urban Meyer is finding out the challenge of a professional coach is extremely different than at the collegiate level
He said it himself, he made a bad decision going to the pros. You’ve adults being paid a huge sum of money win or lose, big egos. Not sure who the other guys were but at Alabama and LSU football is discussed 365 days out of the year.
Small college and limited media. That’s about how much the bozo knows. LSU and UA stadiums are larger than Miami and media frenzy at both schools.
Yes I agree and just as much media attention at Alabama, Texas, or Ohio St but the revenue from TV and merchandise is in the $400 millions for the Dolphins compared to $181 million for Alabama, and that is gross. Alabama spends more money on programs to help the athlete than any other school. Their average net is a out 48 million, compared to Texas as around 80 million. It's worth it though. We are in the top 20 FBS schools with high graduation rates. Saban cares about athletes getting their diploma, unless they have a real chance of getting drafted in the first 3 rounds, and if a player can and should get drafted higher, he talks about their options to stay another year. Not because it would help Alabama, but because it would increase his initial offer from the pros. Listen to his story about Glen Coffee and Glen's altercation with some frat boys. It's really something. You don't hear guys in the NFL talking about Saban and not caring or making a difference in their life
Yet to bring up the reason he wasn’t as successful as he coulda been
Drew Brees is why he left. Period
He's a fantastic college coach but pros are different. The players make more than coaches and make the team money so you really can't control them

I mean it's hard to be successful in the first year as a head coach because everything is new I mean look at the Arizona head coach his first year was kind of bad but last year he did pretty good definitely improving
Sometimes certain places/levels just don't work for people. I'm no Alabama fan as I go to Iowa for college, but Nick Saban is a great head coach for the game of college football and I'd be excited if I heard he was coming to Iowa to coach. Maybe he made some integrity mistakes in the NFL but it's not like we don't either. I used to go to a small-town college and it wasn't a good experience for me so I transferred to a school I felt I belonged at the most. @@dirty.dan37 Great college coach, but facts are facts. He wanted to leave LSU for the Gators job, but there was a clause in his LSU contract stating he couldn't leave for another SEC school. He was biding his time in Miami and figured Urban LIAR would stumble. Thanks to Tebow covering for him, that didn't happen, so Saban took the first offer he could get in college
I agree with the people in this video: Saban couldn't coach in the NFL. You can't be a dictator that nobody likes in the NFL. You're dealing with pros not kids. You can't cuss out pro guys without resistance unlike in college. Doesn't matter if he got Drew Brees. In fact that probably would have made the situation worse as who was going to be the leader of that team Saban or Brees? The correct answer is Brees. Which Saban probably wouldn't have handled well. What people also fails to recognize is that Saban was hated while he was there. There was a mutiny because he literally stepped over some extremely exhausted player in front of the other players. So the people in this clip are right: He belongs in college, not the NFL.
NFL has to much EGO being a leader and coaching up kids for success is way more impressive in my book. In the NFL you just pay professionals to play every year and it really depends on who has the most money and good coaches. Plus college football is way..... more entertaining. NFL overtime rules are suck. NFL clock rules suck. NFL just sucks only thing fun to watch is the playoffs and see all the egomaniacs lose their minds.
Saban is simply better suited for college. The top level is not his forte.
Well said
He wouldn’t have won with Brees ? Dude did you see his quarterbacks lol the phone where over 6 wins having Brees would of changed everything
Your point about Saban may be true. But that's why I hate the NFL. If Saban can succeed in college, and not the NFL, that 's an indictment against the NFL and not Saban. Miami needs to thank God that they didn't get Bear Bryant in 1970 and got Shula instead. You would have had pros quitting left and right.
I can't stand the individuality, the player personalities, the whining on ESPN...the dull, lackluster atmosphere. It's a terrible product. College football is by far much better. Name me one NFL coach better than Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Jimbo Fisher or Dabo Swinney. The name you might go to is Belichick. Everyone who's ever left New England unhappy says the same things about Belichick as you are saying about Saban.
More than that, I also believe that Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll and Don Shula would not be respected in today's NFL - and those are among the best the NFL has ever had.
Reminds me of cushmans dad: my word is strong as oak

These Saban-haters are still making low-level money while Saban is pulling in BIG money. That's no failure. Second, Saban has done some fantastic stuff at Alabama (hardly a "small" school and hardly just another football program, in the SEC, no less). That's no failure.
The Dolphins during Saban's time were crap and the topping on that steaming pile of crap was Ricky who couldn't put down the reefer. That's not Saban's fault and that's not Saban's failure.
