all of the top program get similar recruits... there really isnt much difference between 4star and 5star players...the difference with nick is he gets these 3 - 4 and 5 star players to play at a higher level than they would if they went somewhere else.

He's defeating his own argument. He's saying if he had the best or second best recruiting class every year since 2011, he would've won at least 1 championship. Any good coach would've one at least one under those circumstances. But to win FIVE championships in that time? It's not just the recruiting classes at that point. There's some damn good coaching going on there, too.

What alot of people forget, college coaching is two jobs, prepare the team, but just as important is recruiting, if you recruit well, your team will succeed at the same rate as good coaching will. So Saban is the best recruiter ever, and enough of a coach to not mess it up. College Coaching is a weird job to quantify greatness, because so much of a teams success is off the field or in between seasons.

listen. it is impossible to get all this talent that Skip tries to say Bama has over everyone. the 85 scholarship limit we have today prevents a hand full of Blueblood programs from stock piling talent. the fact is, yes Nick goes out and gets players. and so does Michigan, so does Ohio state. so does Oklahoma. so USC. so does Texas. so does FSU. so does UF. So does UGA. I could go on, but I think you get it. I think where Nick really separates himself from other college coaches is he develops the guys he gets. and he gets them to buy into team above the individual.

Alabama turns 5* talent into a 1st round pick at a 50% rate. The rest of college football develops them at a 17% rate the next closet school 24%. Saban doesn't just get the best players he develops into what there suppose to be at twice the rate of the next best team.

Jim Harbaugh has coached 39 games At Michigan. In those games he gave up 3 40 point games. Nick Saban coached 147 games and has gave up 8 40 point games. Harbaugh gives up a 40 point game every 13 games while Nick Saban only gives up one every 18.375 games. So Skip needs to stop talking about 40 point games

The only way you get the recruits is by winning. The only way you get the best players is by winning. Nick has a winning program in my opinion the best football conference. I’m not even mentioning the championship they’ve won.

6 National Championships, 1 with LSU, 5 with Alabama, played in all the College Football playoffs. 4 straight National Championships appearances, how many Sec championship? How many NFL stars did he trained. Only four Home losses. 6 straight top 5 ap final rankings. 9 total top five ap final rankings with Bama. And won national championships with Greg McElroy, A.J. Mccarron, and Jake Cooker, the only NFL type QB he has had is Tua but we'll see how well Tua will do in the NFL . Yeah I don't think Saban overrated at all.
Nick Saban is hands down the greatest coach in the history of college football. I am a die hard LSU fan and you can't help but admire what he has been able to do at Alabama. LSU should have done whatever they could to keep him. He would have at least 3 if not 4 more championships if he would have stayed in Baton Rouge. It took him 2 years to build LSU to a National Champion 3 years to build Bama. He left LSU with a stacked rebuilt program. Can't help but root for Bama if LSU isn't playing for a title

I love looking back at this and seeing skip not realize that the art of recruiting is a coaching feat. As an athlete, you don’t go to a coming up school without confidence in its ability to shape into a great program. You have to have faith in the coach and the plan the coach has in place. The SEC conference has won 10 NCs during that time period, ACC three, Big 10 two, Big12 two, and PAC10 one.
Even if you took Saban’s NCs out of that number the SEC still has more NCs than any conference during that time period.

Nick Saban won a conference championship by his third year and a national championship by his third year. Every Saban argument Bayless makes is stupid and can be defeated easily. Number of coaches with six national championships is two. Saban has done it having to win a conference championship, semi-final game, and then the national championship, something John McKay nor Bear Bryant had to do. He gets the best recruiting classes and coaches them up. I'm a Sun Devil and we've had stretches where we've had some top 25 recruiting classes in a row only to rarely be in the top 25. Tennessee under Butch Jones had some terrific recruiting classes and under-performed and even Florida State under Jimbo Fisher slightly under-performed these last few years with top ranked recruiting classes. Skip just doesn't like Saban, just like LeBron, Andrew Luck, or name a player/coach because once Skip doesn't like a guy he'll say "They haven't done this" and when they do that repeatedly then he changes the goal posts to something else. I'll give him credit, he's made a great career by providing idiotic arguments.

Part of a college coach's job is recruiting. This is not pro sports where the front office picks the talent. Saban picks the talent, and coaches them hard. He is a great coach, and deserves all the love he gets.

But half of a college coach's job is recruiting. You can't just take that away from him and say, "well he's a good recruiter but overrated coach", like huh? It's one in the same. Also, these are not professionals, these are still kids and they are still learning. No, not anyone could coach Bama to a championship, that's such a foolish rhetoric with literally zero merit or basis in reality.

makes 0 sense..... do you see how much NFL talent some of these other programs produce and don't win national TITLES.....I don't even like Alabama, hate them actually but to make a statement like this is laughable.....the guy went to his back up freshman QB in a Nat title game DOWN...and changed the offensive scheme for that QB.....but hes overrated??? Saban is overrated. It showed in the pros. He is great in college because he can stack his teams however he likes. In the pros he was unsuccessful because he can’t just stack his team with recruiting classes. He missed the playoffs both years and the team actually regressed the second year after they were hyped up to be something big. The second year after Saban left the team actually went 11-5, showing there was something there but Saban just knew he couldn’t coach the team. In terms of recruiting, Nick Saban is obviously the GOAT, but in terms of pure coaching Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh, and potentially Dabo are better or just as good.

I hate Nick Saban. With that said that man is an amazing college football coach. He is the reason those recruiting classes were so good. Much respect.
