- Go behind the scenes at our Nyaru Menteng Rehabilitation Centre in Central Kalimantan, Borneo and see our orphaned orangutans go through a full day of forest school. Our centres are currently closed to all but essential staff to protect our orangutans from Covid-19, so this is our way to allow you a window into their current world.

Our vision is to restore the natural balance for Bornean orangutans. Their survival is at risk solely due to human impact, pushing them to the brink of extinction.
Our mission is two-fold. First, we save orangutans in immediate danger through rescue, rehabilitation, and re-introduction to protected rainforests. Second, and equally important, we protect and restore their wild habitat by working alongside the native communities bordering them.

I love the backwards walk one experiments with. They are all so beautiful and innocent and naturally playful.

5:43 I love this. Such unique individuals & personalities apparent right away. Some are walking, some are crawling, some are working on their bipedal imitations, some are somersaulting, some are cartwheeling, et cetera et cetera. These not-so-distant cousins of ours are profoundly beautiful, magnificent creatures.
All that PPE must feel really warm 🙀

It really is, but it's essential to protect the orangutans from possible human transmission of COVID19. The staff are indeed amazing, thank you for your kind concern and support.
@@BorneoOrangutanSurvival I work in Covid ICUs in NY and am covered head to toe in PPE. When I saw what your surrogates & staff wear my heart hurt for you guys. I can’t imagine how hot you all are!! We get hot but can go in a different room with cooler air. So much respect and thanks for doing this very important work!
Watching orangutan diary is also one of the therapy..
The surrogate mothers call them "kid" like their own children melts my heart 🥰

Not always true. Alot of them were fed tranquilizers in food or by darts. Not always killed

They have suppliers who deliver them. Search for "We Love Orangutans". There are videos that they interviewed the people who worked there.

It is to stop any possible Covid transmission to the Orangutans, which are very susceptible to human diseases.
no one should be ashamed of caring about lifes! Yes is very hot in there, and all that must be uncomfortable but they are caring about the kids and protecting their health! no shame in that. Yes being in the middle of a global pandemic is not fair, but they are doing the best they can!
