- WELCOME TO ORANGUTAN BABY SCHOOL!
The team at IAR Indonesia do everything they can to ensure the rescued orangutans at the centre receive all the love and expert care they need to recover.
Every single one of them has their own story of survival. Some have witnessed the destruction of their forest homes, others have been poached from the wild and forced into captivity. Every rescue story is different and each individual requires personalised round the clock care.
The ultimate goal is to one day return them to their forest home, but they first need to learn the essential skills needed to survive in the wild. Orangutans of between the ages of two and four are taken to our baby school, where they learn the basics of climbing and foraging, and are encouraged to hone in on their natural instincts. However, they are still babies, and just like humans, they definitely enjoy some fun antics along the way!

They're the cutest, sweetest babies in the world. I swear I could watch them all day. I really wish we could have another season of Jungle School. If anyone loves baby orangutans and hasn't watched that show, it's an absolute must! You'll love it. I promise!
I’ve watched that program so many times from start to finish on days I need some brightness in my life. Oh how I wish I could go work with these beautiful creatures. ❤❤❤
These precious little orangutans look like they can't wait to get to school for a day of full of fun and learning but by the end of the day they are totally spent and ready to go home for rest and relaxation. Thank God there are people and places like this that take in orphaned, abandoned and abused orangutans and teach them to learn how to survive in the wild. And they exist by donations by thousands of caring people like us. Be one of those people if you can.

This sound of a baby orangutan is truly inspiring. A cry of such innocent caring can only mean one thing, a very healthy baby. I've seen too many baby orangutans give up on life and be so weak that they couldn't make a sound or simply didn't want to. I guess when you spent enough time around baby orangutans, who suffer from the loss of their mother, these precious sounds give me hope that these little guys will survive. Thanks for sharing the real deal without all the advertised grunting sounds.

I was going to see the orangutans at the Cincinnati zoo a few years ago because they were my favorite animal but they were not there :(

Almost any medium to big sized animal could seriously harm you in very short amount of time. But most of them wouldn't. The biggest killers of humans are mosquitos and other humans.

These ppl are hero's caring for these babies. Also never forget most of these babies are here bc of humans. These amazing animals belong with their mothers. Not having their mothers killed to be kept as pets. Not having their forest destroyed for palm oil. Humans are the most destructive species on earth. What an honour it must be to care for these babies and teach them what they need to know to live on their own.
Those little things looking up at you knowing everything that is going through your mind. They are so smart, how could anyone harm anything that is so intelligent, looking into their eyes as they are hurting them? Just breaks my heart.

They are close to us in their emotions, too.
We share 97% of our DNA with orangutans 🦧 too. Just looking into their eyes and you can see all kinds of emotions, they are so expressive. To see them being mistreated like this, I just can’t understand why humans can do that to these beautiful primates.

I love my ape brothers! They are more peaceful than humans for sure, my eyes almost get tearily because i feel such a strong connection, like it's my brother and feel proud when they are released and just go for the trees and climb! Happy for them and happy that you help them, all the care takers are angels on earth.

This was extremely heartwarming. Bless these kind souls who not only care but allow them to return to lives they were meant to live. We humans need to be humane towards our fellow creatures. Humans are no more important than any other animal or life on this beautiful planet.
It has to be an absolutely heart breaking experience to think about all the trauma they have endured prior to being saved. Those eyes, faces say it all. Some people just have no heart. 😢
