Our vision is to restore the natural balance for Bornean orangutans. Their survival is at risk solely due to human impact, pushing them to the brink of extinction.
Our mission is two-fold. First, we save orangutans in immediate danger through rescue, rehabilitation, and re-introduction to protected rainforests. Second, and equally important, we protect and restore their wild habitat by working alongside the native communities bordering them.

They are all so adorable. Just like a 2 year old. They fight sleep til they can't fight it no longer. Nothing is going to disturb the one snoring now. Thank you all for taking care of the beautiful orangutans.

When I see how many orphaned orangutans there are, it makes me realize how much of a danger they really are in as a species.
Stop eating things with palm oil in it.
I think what is also scary when we see so many orphaned babies, is that only 1 in every 6 baby orangutans are actually rescued. So this just shows a tiny percentage of how endangered they are. Its so sad!

Your not alone. Orangutans and Gorillas mimic us humans too the Tee. Very peaceful watching these guys play around... They love their family members... I never get tired watching primates enjoy life.
I always tell myself to stop watching those shows. I always end up so upset and cry. God Bless them all!

as much as we would like to God I would love to it's not a very good idea for them because they need to be reintroduced into the wild that's why they limit as much as possible the human contact that they have
I understand also why they used exclusively local women as surrogate mothers simply because in order for these animals to have a future in the wild they need to live in close cooperation and understanding with the local populace in order for them to have a chance to survive in the wild

@Indy M Surrogate mothers(and biological mothers)are very important for any baby’s growth and development and especially are especially important in growing confidence. Surrogate mothers are just as important as blood related Mothers.
How can you not love these precious babies. Thank you everyone for the loving care you give them.

Who could sleep with those BRIGHT lights on?! It's as bad as a prison. Bright lights and noises. And I'm not talking crickets. Poor babies.
I want to be an orangutan caregiver so bad, they are my absolute favorite animal, and can’t get enough of them, I really look up to the current caregivers and past caregivers as having this job must be so honoring and rewarding.

I think any parent who has their babies from birth, can see how much these babies needed their mom's. This is a priceless program to save the Orangutan. There is heartbreak but also immense joy here. Thank you to all the caring souls who in their individual and collective caring, made these lives we're watching possible.🥰

You all that take care of and provide shelter for these orphans are true heroes . The destruction of their habitat for palm plantations is absolutely terrible . There has to be some alternative found to substitute palm oil to save what's left of their habitat and species .

I just realized why you guys make them sleep like that, and I’m assuming that’s so you can get them a feel for what it feels like in a nest like area to sleep in.
Yes! The baskets are used as they are easy to clean and the shape sort of mimics the nests which the infants will be taught to build in forest school.

The Orangutan has to be the most beautiful and charming of all in the animal kingdom and it sickens me that they are hunted for profit, their habitat destroyed for man's greed and they are close to extinction in the wild.. May Allah (SWT) or what other God to whom you pray or believe, turn man's hand to preserving these, the most gentle of all creatures. Bless all of the carers, in all their respective positions, for the love and devotion that you bestow upon your charges.

Like human babies, these little cute babies do not want to close their eyes, do not want to miss any fun!
Look into their eyes. At first, infinite sadness, frightened, worried, fearful, longing, missing and then hope, comes with love and care - what are they thinking ? They must think that we are odd, hairless apes, some who only bring hurt but others who bring love and kindness. With the life that these dedicated carers are giving back to them, the peace which this brings after so much trauma gives them confidence to live and learn. They show their characters - all different - just like us. They laugh and they smile. They have moods and tantrums but find comfort in each other - just like us. They just want security, a peaceful stress-free life and a big kiss and a cuddle - just like us. Effectively they ARE us.
Except that they're better than us. They're peaceful. They don't slaughter other species or each other, and they forgive the utmost cruelty.
How blessed are those people that they get to save orangutans. Little sleepy angels. God bless.

I think the staff try to not give them physical affection because the ultimate goal will be for them to live wild and shun people. But it would be impossible for me to not hug them. A hug reassures and calms. Turning the lights down would help them follow the schedule of the forest.

@@ernestwadehyche7828 It's bittersweet. They were stolen from their mothers and that is a heartbreaking loss for them. That they will return to the wild is cause for celebration, but not all make it there.
