This was like heaven for us kids when we were young, we'd stay up at night planning what we were going to do when the schools would close. I get excited just watching Jim frolicking around in the drifts.
The blizzard of 78 is one for the record books! Indiana, the whole state was under a state of emergency, and my area, Kokomo, nothing moved for a couple weeks. My school missed 16 days straight. We remember it like it happened last year.
This man is a LEGENDARY meteorologist! I grew up watching him as a kid on The Weather Channel, and his passion is why I've been obsessed with weather for as long as I can remember.
Jim's still out there. Great guy! Met him in Orchard Park during the storm that fizzled. He didn't show up for the 7 feet that postponed and relocated a NFL game. Haha
I think it was like 3 or 4 years ago Boston had a blizzard that Jim covered, and he went nuts everytime they got lightning thunder snow...Classic Cantore
thank you! shovelling was actually not bad! the snow was very light. it kept coming and we had to shovel the stairs 5 times, but it was light and fluffy! i guess we're lucky, I feel for people in worse situations. 💕
I live in Georgia. I remember the blizzard of 1993 that came through the SE. Overnight we had 2 feet of snow. Not much compared to up north but a lot for the south.
I so wish the South could see that kind of snow fall again. My oldest will be 17 soon and they have never seen more than 6 inches. I have prayed the kids would see a blizzard before they moved out. Doesn't look like it will happen.
This looks like winter for me as a kid only in Md…in the late 50s, 60s & 70s. We had snow and huge drifts all winter so this is a rarity snowstorm for the eastern coastal line. Yes, the thrill of a school snow day the next day excited all of us kids. Still does only winters have been milder over last years…kids love it.
Why wouldnt we? Snow is fun, especially when you come from Puerto Rico, has no snow, no cold, just heat. When you come to MA to visit and if is it snowing, its great.
Funny, we were just talking about Jim Cantore today. We had never seen him cover any storms other than hurricanes. Now we know he does blizzards too. He's no stranger to the strong storm winds being experienced in Boston. Our daughter called the blizzard that has hit the New England area a "frozen hurricane" with such high winds being recorded in some areas. Hope everyone is staying safe in this ferocious storm.
I am in Central Florida and it's below freezing, we have heaters on. We are miserable😔!!! I don't know how you people survived there, i heard lots of people doesn't have power. There's a reason why i live in FL not to freeze. I've lived in Delaware for a year 25 years ago and i cannot handle it. Blessed all of you out there🙏.
It’s really not as bad up here as some of you from the South think. I’d rather be somewhere warmer, but we’re very prepared for the cold… just like how y’all are for the heat. One good thing we like about winter, is that it’s like a ‘reset’ button. All the crazy things going on in the Summer get put on hold and staying inside makes you focus more on priorities. I’ve never been to Florida in the Summer, I wanna go to see if I can handle the humidity & bugs 🤣
I was involved with the blizzard of 78 in Columbus, OH. Don't remember much as I was 4 going on 5 that year. Parents & I moved to Southern California in July 1979. Parents were done with snow.
I was in Columbus then as well and remember it. I was 6yo. My dad carefully walked me next door for a play date (houses weren’t that far apart). We now live in Central New York and actually love the snow.
Jim cantore is awesome hey Jim did you catch any thunder and lightning with the snow I love when he gets excited when he sees thunder with the snow LOL
Okay, thanks for that great question about "noteworthy storms". As a fellow storm-chaser, and there are a significant number of us, the survivor gets to tell the story.
How about those 40' high snow banks? Are you all visualizing that? We're talking 4-story tall buildings here. They transcribed it to 14', but I swear he said 40.

Ollie Williams America's legendary weatherman.
He''s been in them all from blizzards to hurricanes, floods and tornadoes. He has a lot of guts and bravery. Love their Storm Stories series.
Its not a hurricane until I have seen Jim Cantore out in the wind trying to keep from blowing away.
Oh he is legendary alright. For being Cheesy lying weatherman!

Run of the mill snowstorm. Media needs to hype it up. More viewers= more 💵
If you see Jim Cantore, run!!
Wherever he goes, blizzards, tornadoes, or hurricanes follow!
And if you see the Dominator tornado intercept vehicle go by, prepare to take cover!
Eric and Jim are the best! ❤️
If I were closer...the only down side are the power outages. Snowpocalypse in Texas last Feb would have been a blast except for the power outages.
It was ice that did the damage.
How are the homeless in all the snow there was shortage of housing why is the media ignoring them?
In Canada we call that Spring Time...
