Scott: "I know that we will able to hold this song together and really work hard." *Looks back at Avi playing with a towel* Scott: "I mean maybe." HAHAHA
+Johanna A. Florez - I love his "horn" work in their arrangement of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)". This Sing Off performance was a preview of that particular talent (he has so many).
I don't think Avi got enough credit throughout this show.. Honestly the other ones are great singers, but.. His vocal range, and his pitch perfect low bass notes... He's insanely talented!
Shawn always made sure to compliment Kevin and Avi in multiple episodes during his critiques, its just not this one. (and if he does say something, my internet is acting up and I could barely get it to load thier full performance let alone to the judges opinions.)
I think Sarah didn't give too much praise to Avi and Kevin because singing is her specialty. She doesn't know as much about the backup music so she can't give too much constructive criticism
1:18 "Our group has never ever done a sixties song before" Kinda hilarious, considering that up to that point, Pentatonix had only actually sung three songs together!
Most of the originals that they covered were okay. This one however, Jance was such an amazing preformer(as shawn said) that it amazes me that they were able to make it any better.
i love how all the groups are like 'yeah we can do this', and pentatonix is like 'well, we're not from the sixties so we're not sure' and also, 1:23 i love it xD
A couple reasons why I'm in love with every single member of this band: Avi's hips don't lie. Kirstie and her adorable little dances. Scott's voice! Kevin's cute lil' smile. Mitch's giggle and his confidence.
at 7:26 when I heard avi I literally hugged my laptop... I have an obsession with him... So polite avi was holding his hands behind his back and he sort of bowed when the judge said his name, and dat smile... don't even get me started :D
I like how where most basses might have trouble moving while singing, Avi almost has to move. Like, seriously it's hard to find a video with Avi where he ISN'T swinging his hips or bouncing even if most of them are holding relatively still.
+katinstroodle yeah when he was like "didnt i make you feel like you were the only girl?" and everyone in the crowd (and me) felt/hoped he was talking to them
You can see in Scott's shoulders how uncomfortable he is with singing this song when it starts, and while he's still tense at the end, it's more relaxed than it was at the beginning. Like, if Scott is uncomfortable singing something, you can always see it in his shoulders during this competition.
The Pentatonix sound is so full and vibrant. No other group, not even those 16-member groups, come close to the amazingly deep sound that these guys have.
Anybody else here old enough to remember both "Sly and the Family Stone" AND "The Rolling Stones"? I ask because when Sean said they gave it a "Stone groove" I immediately thought of "Sly and the Family Stone". anyone else think that? And, Yes. Pentaholics exist across several generations! My teenager, 3 adult children and moi! Oh, I almost forgot my mother (70's) and grandson (2). They are that good!!!
It seems so! And if you watch some old Trio vids (Trio being extra-fetus Scott, Mitch and Kirstie) doing their own covers, you can see Mitch beatboxing a bit for the others in them too. :)
Oh I LOVE the 60's!!!!... wake up, the 60's fine if you were not... black, gay of female. you don't remember 1960's America... a sad day when youth think they think they know the past
Maggie Rezac :( I think they meant that they were hopeful for these things to end. Not to mention society is supposed to be positive man, come on! (Totally not sarcastic)
TRUE, there is nothing innocent about war, race riots, assassinations, sit inns, burning draft cards, burning the flag, the battle for freedom 100 years after the civil war....the KKK, ...The best thing about the 60's was a bright and hopeful moon landing, that seemed to unite the whole world for a short time.....watching the news every night was terrifying....
I enjoy listening to everything this group sings. Being a senior citizen, I am not familiar with the covers they pick, so I had to search out the originals. And I have to say, I love the way Pentatonix arranges the songs, and as Sara says...."make it your own"!
Having seen Janis do this in person . . . well, I do LOVE the PTX, but this just makes me want to go listen to her version instead. Plus, AVI should have been the lead singer on this one. B+. But what do I know anyway. :-)
Avi IS awesome, and he does have a good range all the way up to high middle, he has no high end at all for this and couldnt actually sing most of it on key....
EXCUSE ME?! Kirstie doesn't have a "background voice", she has an amazing voice that could kill anyone with how amazing it is. Watch later in the series, you'll see. Watch how they are now. I'm sorry XD I get defensive with things I love.
I freaking love Kevin. Every time anyone gets praised, he's just standing there, grinning for them, and I am all about that.
Yasss I'm not the only one who loves Kevin for being so fricken talented and not getting any credit for The Gods sake!
Merry Rainbow omg yaaas finally some kevin lovers
Merry Rainbow Did you not see the nice and plentiful comments that were made towards him on the previous performances?
Kevin's my fave ♡
Everyone loves Kevin! I mean how can you not love him with that laugh and smile, and personality, and his ability to be truly happy for other people
I love how in this every one is all serious and "we love the 60's" and Penatonix is just gooffing off and all"we never sing this style".
when scott says they’ll work hard and then turns to see avi playing with a towel is hilarious
and yet they rocked it.
Scotts little "I mean maybe" and then giggle is just the cutest thing ever oml
Yes!!! I loved that
What time was this?
Brøken Pixels 1:17
Scott: "I know that we will able to hold this song together and really work hard."
*Looks back at Avi playing with a towel*
Scott: "I mean maybe."
HAHAHA
They love fooling around. Just watch anything that involves Superfruit, and you can see, especially their Periscopes
amy lee his giggle gives me life
When did that happen?
1:18
He was SO CUTE there
Who else is on a pentatonix marathon??
Meeeee
me
Everybody
When am I not?
aye
HOW COULD I FORGET A PERFORMANCE WITH *KEVIN IMITATING A HORN OMG*
+Johanna A. Florez - I love his "horn" work in their arrangement of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)". This Sing Off performance was a preview of that particular talent (he has so many).
He has too many talents, the man is too powerful.
Bahaha the other group's are dead serious and Scott's like "maybe we'll work hard idk lol."
Hahah let's just spit out a few notes and then magically come up with a Grammy winning arrangement in like 5 seconds
thisbrightlight i
I don't think Avi got enough credit throughout this show.. Honestly the other ones are great singers, but.. His vocal range, and his pitch perfect low bass notes... He's insanely talented!
Yep. He has such a beautiful voice, he could be a great solo/lead singer, not just in the background ... and today, he's doing that. :)
Shawn always made sure to compliment Kevin and Avi in multiple episodes during his critiques, its just not this one. (and if he does say something, my internet is acting up and I could barely get it to load thier full performance let alone to the judges opinions.)
@@papaya8634 loved it when Avi decided to be a solo artist.
I think Sarah didn't give too much praise to Avi and Kevin because singing is her specialty. She doesn't know as much about the backup music so she can't give too much constructive criticism
I got giddy whenever Shawn praised Avi and Kevin during the show.
2023 Pentatonix marathon again! And loving every performance.
And everyone thought Mitch was just the Tenor... GURL WATCH AT 3:24 HE BEAT BOXES TOO!
Lileh ARMY spotted lol yeah
AHAHAHAH
"Back then, you couldn't do any effects."
Haha, look at Pentatonix now. Vocal effects EVERYWHERE
ikr 😂😂
kevin at love again doing dubstep 😂😂
just another phan trash true
Northshore is so talented group even they dont have beatboxer or effects theyre still great but still Pentatonix better
I love how much praise Avi's getting, he definitely deserves it. Such an awesome voice.
1:18 "Our group has never ever done a sixties song before" Kinda hilarious, considering that up to that point, Pentatonix had only actually sung three songs together!
Lol
Including telephone, four
it is quite hilarious
now they’ve sung literally every christmas song in existence
I'm actually glad I don't know the originals to any of their cover songs because that way I can listen to it unprejudiced.
***** If you know the originals you would be blown away by Pentatonix.
***** If you know the originals you would be blown away by Pentatonix.

Is no one going to mention the scream thing Scott did after Kevin's flugal horn thing? It's my fave
I wasn't watching it startled me
+DlorbxGaming hahaha flugal horn.... Sorry, just makes me laugh as a band kid
+HalloLeute i guy yyyuuttiywryuysghffhgfdd677dtuytr saw qryyggfdaswyu888ooo888775544332212qqqqqwwweeeeeeee÷4566uu7666900988766554432212wwqwwa

Avi's hips don't lie.
Kirstie and her adorable little dances.
Scott's voice!
Kevin's cute lil' smile.
Mitch's giggle and his confidence.
Why does when I actually like someone that is not an anime he's
1. Far from me
2. Older than me
3. Gay
But dang. Scott's voice is just... 😍😍😍
Preach! I feel the same way!!
😂😂 I've thought the same thing
I know how you feel
+Erza Gutierrez i thought Scott was bi?
I actually feel you. I like him :P
I never saw the show when it first aired, but watching the intro in this video, it's very plain that Pentatonix is leagues ahead of the competition
I love that the judges actually give Kevin and Avi credit... They deserve it!
at 7:26 when I heard avi I literally hugged my laptop... I have an obsession with him... So polite avi was holding his hands behind his back and he sort of bowed when the judge said his name, and dat smile... don't even get me started :D
o sorry it was 6:26
Ooh hun trust me.. You're not the only one who absolutely adores Avi.
ive had dreams...
Starlight20121 Doesn't matter where it was in the song.....He's PERFECT!! I'm obsessed too!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE AVI!!!
I sense a fan girl on the loose watch out Avi! Lol jk, but yeah he is really humble and nice and sweet
Avii was moving so violently bahaha he was swinging like he was gonna kill someone with it!
Thums up if you like Mitch
LOVE him, actually! :D
Ayleen rojas Who doesn't? Mitch is QUEEN
Love**
Mitch, a man of many talents!
Actually, it is spelt 'love' ❤️❤️
these guys-their love for eachother and how they came about on that show 5 years ago-makes me feel so good
I like how where most basses might have trouble moving while singing, Avi almost has to move. Like, seriously it's hard to find a video with Avi where he ISN'T swinging his hips or bouncing even if most of them are holding relatively still.
"The 60's were an innocent time..." Uh, no, the 60's definitely were not an innocent time...
Lol 3 60s
@El Fenomeno That's pretty much the case throughout time. Minus rock and roll
I absolutely love their humbleness
1:20 cute mirstie moment ^^
3:08 i saw that Mitch, that look on Scott ;>
Is it weird that I ship the them all? Scomirstie I guess..
Lol
+Fallen1Dreams I think it is scomichstie... at least that's what they called it at the frozenmedley from Sup3rfruit... lol
Am I the only one who loves mirstie
An early Scömiché moment
+Chloe Leivers yaaaaaassssssssss
This is like Avi was just learning the power of his hips, and now he's completely mastered them. :D
1:22 OMG SCOTT LAUGH OMG SO CUTE
Avi: "move his hips"
me: "DEAD!!!"
Mitch is an angel! He has a heavenly voice and he can beatbox like nobody's business!
He's cute too!
Mrs.Mumble Anime chill. he just did a small little hi hat. stop acting he's the best in the world
Smash_bruh Sorry. I was a little tired when I commented. Sorry.
+Smash_bruh he is the best in the world to me and it's fine if he isn't to you but there's no need to be so rude
RUclips recommended me to watch this again, so I did, and damn, I just noticed Mitch when Kevin doing the flugelhorn. You go, Mitch!
3:24 mitch is beatboxing :D
YES I didn't notice it before😍
In a livestream in 2014 they said besides Kevin, Mitch is the best beatboxer.
@@medslovesu there’s also a cover on scott’s channel of sweet dreams that the trio did and he beatboxes in that
When Scott started singing, I got chills and then my ovaries exploded. Lmfao
ur oreos exploded right?
You can actually hear all of the girls in the crowd just lose it
+katinstroodle yeah when he was like "didnt i make you feel like you were the only girl?" and everyone in the crowd (and me) felt/hoped he was talking to them
Okay welcome to the new baby...😂😂
WHAT AMOUNT OF BREEDING MADE THESE 5 PEOPLE WHAT THE FUCK AAAAH
truer words never spoken.....
Oh! Correction! It was Mitch taking over vocal percussion!!!
It's amazing how unique this song is under their command. I can't tell which I like better, the original or this, and they're both so different.
You got a piece of my heart, Scott!
That transition between Mitch and Kevin on the beatbox is seamless. Amazing.
Seen this a thousand times, just noticed Avi taking over the vocal percussion when Kevin took the horn solo.
Wasn't it Mitch? Cause you can still hear Avi on the bass and Mitch was making the movements to go along with the percussion sounds.
4.13 Avi be like: oh there's a stain on the floor, let me brush that...
Lolol
You can see in Scott's shoulders how uncomfortable he is with singing this song when it starts, and while he's still tense at the end, it's more relaxed than it was at the beginning. Like, if Scott is uncomfortable singing something, you can always see it in his shoulders during this competition.
Huh, cool
I love pentatonix! They sound like... I don't even know what! Something amazingly awesome+1000
Amazing to watch a force of nature grow....
The Pentatonix sound is so full and vibrant. No other group, not even those 16-member groups, come close to the amazingly deep sound that these guys have.
Kevin needs more attention like he had here.
Constant chills hearing them sing...ahhhh
Scott is so freaking bad-ass. He can sing anything man. Danggggg...
I can't help but smile through all of their performances
Scotts little laugh at 1:24 kills me.
It's interesting watching this competition now and seeing how far they've come. An absolutely amazing group and I love everything from them. :)
take another little piece of my heart now baby ---Long live Janis Joplin
And so it came to pass. Avi's hips were born.
these clothes crack me up everytime haha
Chocolate is a great therapy method lol
Still feels so good to feel the vibes of Pentatonix !
Been a while since i've watched these performances videos ! So good man, Scott is insane !!

I keep going back to the early days. This is when the other groups realize Pentatonix is amazing.
Do they do any bad performances? Seriously. Love them so freaking much!
fetus mitch is adorable
næsheim fetus and straight mitch is just overload cute
Pentatonix marathon going down here!!!!!!!....I'm loving them so much
Wait was that Mitch beatboxing while Kevin was imitating the horn?
It seems so! And if you watch some old Trio vids (Trio being extra-fetus Scott, Mitch and Kirstie) doing their own covers, you can see Mitch beatboxing a bit for the others in them too. :)
Reggae...thanks to Jamaica! Thank you guys for sharing our gift to the world in your performance!
My favorite part stars at 3:24 and ends at 3:47
I Love the Pentatonix! You are all blessed with amazing gifts...keep sharing them.
Dem feels at it again
OMG Scott's deep n heavy voice killin' it!!
Oh I LOVE the 60's!!!!... wake up, the 60's fine if you were not... black, gay of female. you don't remember 1960's America... a sad day when youth think they think they know the past
I think people were talking about the music portion of the 60's.
I agree! They most likely talking about the 60's music more than anything else, but the rest of the 60's?... Yeah.
You are amazing!! Love you Pentatonix!!
I know everyone is individually recognized except for kirsty
Yeah! I feel really bad for Kirstie
Kevin and Avi -- breathless brilliant. Totally giddy and awestruck!
Excellent!
i had some shivers going on there some really good parts there i love that they gave it a little of a raggie feel it was awesome
"The 60's was a decade of Hope."? Well, aside from the nasty race fights & that damned Vietnam War...drugs, sex, & rock n roll!
Maggie Rezac :( I think they meant that they were hopeful for these things to end. Not to mention society is supposed to be positive man, come on! (Totally not sarcastic)

kind of
could that bass ever BE more on point??? good lord!!
Am I the only one who doesn't like the fact that mrduckbear11 rates Pentatonix's performance? I think they're a great A+ every time!
Yeaaaa I guess it's pretty condescending
To coffeelover2188 - the song at 0:29 is You Can't Hurry Love, sung first in 1966 by The Supremes on the Motown label. It was a big hit of theirs.
“oh, well, i mean maybe” haha
THE BEST GROUP IN THE WORLD, I LOVE YOU GUYS GOD BLESS YOU
Awesome
i've LOVED this group from day 1! and Scott is a beast!
They have been great from the start! Such spirited, talented union of individuals! Keep it coming :)
Kirstie never gets praised. I think because her voice is generic, like backup vocals.
Selina Tellez she gets a lot of praise later in the season in arrangements where she takes the lead. her voice is actually very good.
EXCUSE ME?! Kirstie doesn't have a "background voice", she has an amazing voice that could kill anyone with how amazing it is. Watch later in the series, you'll see. Watch how they are now.
I'm sorry XD I get defensive with things I love.
+Camz Bello kirstie is so underrated she is my favourite
+Camz Bello She is a terrific soprano. Some of their arrangements kicked her into the background, but she can kill it.
+Gregory Martin Check out 'Stuck like Glue' from their competition on Sing Off 3.
As usual this group gives me shivers!
Description: "the beat boxer", his name is Kevin, he has a name
Still one of my favourite Scott songs, he's so into it here, he KILLS it!
who needs digital technology if you have a base and a beat
pentatonix make me smile all the time i listen and watch them
2:16, your welcome :)
This performance was so great!!! And Mitch making that ts-sound when Kevin was imitating the horn!!!
Saxophone impression xD
THAT'S RIGHT!!! They're the music's saviors in my eyes
Kevin Olusola is just ridiculously good
Scott effortlessly falling into rhythm at 3:00
I wonder how Janice would have covered this song if Pentatonix had sung the original version in 1967 instead of Erma Franklin?
I wonder how Erma Franklin would have sung this song had Jerry Ragovoy and Burt Berns not written it?
Great performance, truly. I loved Kevin's solo.
