- This group still continues to impress with the judges and fans..no doubt in my mind they will at least make the finals. As for the winners that's yet to be seen since the winning group doesn't always necessarily win lol but i guess it depends on who the judges pit them up against. But i still feel like the bass and beatboxing really pushes them to the top since the judges are big fans of that then the vocals which isn't bad but i think that's their rock tbh, so it was a good choice to have them in the group. A-

gadgetgeek96 this is my favorite performance on the show. Kirstie was loud and a little sick on some parts but it was better than the others in my opinion. They've come so far, and the songs they've released are 10 times better than back when they were on the show xD

Come on people. Sure Scott's amazing but let's just appreciate how amazing Kirstie was in this performance. She was really sick and not only killed it, had some pretty amazing high notes to.

Unpopular opinion...but I'm not that enamoured with Scott's voice. He's a great singer technically, but the tone is not that special.

now this is a song i'd love to seem them do a remake of today with all they've learned. this is a song i grew up hearing in the movies all the time any time there were road trips.
I want to hear Scott sing more rock in general. I get that it's hard to do in the group, but his voice works so well with some rock (I've heard him sing I don't wanna miss a thing, soooo good). I think they could do something really cool with Kevins cello kind of like radioactive. And now with Kirstins confidence etc!
Around 3:18 Kirstie's voice started to strain lol Can you believe she was sick? She still sounds awesome. Some People are always saying Kirstie doesn't belong and all this stuff, when you realize it she does the higher harmonies. The songs Pentatonix does won't be the same without her. An example is this song (Born to be Wild), video killed the radio star, Love Lockdown and all the other ones.
***** If you listen to them as a trio in high school you can hear the Pentatonix sound. I believe it's due to where her voice blends with the Scott and Mitch. The Pentatonix sound is unique and it's due to her.

Avi was boss. Kristie did a fabulous job. I love how Scott made his voice sound like it came from that time period. As always Kevin was a freak of nature. And Mitch always does wonderfully

Let me just say that I love Kirstie more than ever now. I *adore* her more than ever now. The fact that she got up there and sung her ass off- and then some- after a week of throwing up and being sick, is amazing. I mean, she made it look like she was in full health; she made it sound like she was in full health. It takes real talent to pull that off and make it amazing.
And then she went on to have the lead in hte coutnry song (which admittedly was weaker of the two, but if she had been at full health I think would have done better).

Where you really saw how much they had gone from a trio with a bassist and percussionist to an amazing group! The other previous songs were amazing, but the 8th and 9th performances really showed how settled they now are as a group. And now it’s 10 years, admittedly without Avi, but Matt stepped in and meshed phenomenally. Amazing.

Every time I watch this I pick out new details that astound me. They had to compose and choreograph two performances, yet on top of making 5 voices sound like a 10 instrument rock band, they move all over the stage in perfect syncronization seemlessly... and at the time of this performance they had only been working together for a couple of months at most. Why can't we all have talent like that? Amazing!
Well, if everyone had talent like that, people wouldn't seem very talented, would they?

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure that Avi can control his breathing so well he can inhale and exhale at the same time. While it's very difficult, it's not impossible, and if he has done that in this instance then clap claps to him for having the courage to when it could have gone horribly wrong

wish pentatonix did more genres of music. the sing-off was a great place to showcase what they can do. their current stuff is mostly pop and i think they can flourish in more genres

they know that rock isn't their best genre. At the beginning of this video they acknowledged the fact that it takes more than 5 people to make it sound totally like rock. This is called working with what you got. And I must say they did one hell of a job.
Poor Kirstie looks so exhausted at the end of this :( during the performance you couldn't guess she was sick though. I hope she got to sleep after the show.

The beginning was nice, but after that break in the middle, the really turned it into rock. Simply. Fantastic. This group is amazing and incredible and i just can't get enough.

This was pretty awesome - considering that the song is totally out of their comfort zone, and on top of it Kirstie was sick, to pull off such a great rock performance is impressive.
There is something about Scott Hoying and his love for performing that is magical.
Two years later and this still impresses the living snot out of me -- from someone who bought the album on vinyl when it first came out in the 60s. It's hard to remember that you'd have to tack a couple of you together to end up with as many years as this song is old -- and you updated it *just* enough to give it a really great sound. :)

@@FayolaOnline Kevin stayed to finish his finals at Yale which is why he didn't even meet the others until the day before the audition. I believe that Scott (Univ of Southern California) and Kirsten (Univ of Oklahoma) did not register for the fall semester.

PTX was my favorite from this season, but there were some other great groups. Check out The Dartmouth Aires and Afro Blue. I believe he has them on this channel. Well worth watching.
