I was part of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) throughout my high school years. In Grade 11, I served as the vice president, and in Grade 12, I held the position of president of the RCL. I wouldn't consider myself a genius, but I always did my best in academics. Being a shy person, I believe that quality actually helped me a lot. Recently, I graduated from the Central University of Technology (CUT) with a qualification in IT specializing in Software Development.

I think both of you are speaking from a place of privilege because you had a good father present and you don't know what it feels like to have a toxic father. Having a toxic or abusive father could cost you some level of trauma that could damage your life and future meanwhile if the person is absent there could be a void felt but the damage could not compare to that of an abusive of toxic father
Imagine being raped by your own father....It's better not to have known that person.... cz thats how extreme abusive Father's can be, but those are the things tht we never associate them with.....

Sorry, I am gonna disagree with the part where you would rather have a toxic parent. It takes a mental strain on you and drives you to depression because they are there but in no way helpful towards your adulting journey, one thing is they will drain your peace and the environment is key to growth. Growing up or building in a toxic environment leads to being an adult growing up with traumas and certain behaviours are normalized because that has become normal. NOw you are stuck working on issues that could have been avoided.With the majority of these parents, there is always an enabler . They call it character building but it is just a mental breakdown and why does one have to go through certain things on to build character. They have a tendency to actually even remind you what they do for you

I was an academic, a first team sports woman in all the sport I partook in and was never a prefect in both primary and high school because lacked leadership skills. Shy kid who kept to themself. I would sometimes be acting prefect for any prefect who was absent from school. Now I'm a CA

On the topic of absent fathers I agree with Thato to an extend as having a present toxic father makes sense to pick but yet the negative side is having that toxicity exposed at as a young age and growing with that can mess up one’s mindset in their adult lives because it’s either they become a product of their environment or they change and break the cycle it’s very important to have present father for any child but the cost of that is sometimes the unfair burden some children have to grow up throughout their lives
I was a prefect in 2019 (7th grade). I'm now a high school senior(17yrs old), writing my final exams. I also started my RUclips channel this year😂and yeah, hopefully next year I'll be in varsity and stuff

I was a prefect in 2021 for that year only. I mean I've always wanted to be a prefect but I was not that smart and I was known for being in the loudest group of friends at school so vhele I was not expecting it. Then jiki jiki I'm a prefect. I'm now in my second year and I'm studying education and I think for me it was a mini practice on how to gain respect from learners and how to deal with certain learners at school. So I guess it's a win for me

Now I am in second year Bcom Accounting . Well although now I don't think being a prefect is all that but it really helped me with my people skills and handling multiple personalities . But in the context of overall life achievement, it does very little for you except getting you bursaries

speaking as a former Head girl, and i was a prefect my whole high school life, to a point where i carried it with me when we got to the next grade i didn't hesitate i will be selected as a prefect lol life as an adult is actually not like that for me, i still work hard and able to achieve somethings, but everytime i meet former school mates it like they are expecting more from how i look, dress, and probably wondering how come i dont have a car🤣🤣🤣
