During my testing with the 130w I got no battery drain, I was using cinebench and heaven which puts heavy load on cpu and gpu and still no battery drain

The Dell 130w certainly won't. it is a quality charger. I would be careful about buying a charger from Aliexpress to use on your really expensive Alienware, I have had a couple of Duff PSU's from them
It won’t say it supports m15 as it’s designed for xps 9500. Dell have just added usbc charging as an option which is why I tested these chargers and power banks. Any usbc charger over 60w will work but only the dell 130w stopped battery drain. Obviously for optimal performance you need the original alienware charger

Everything was fine, only that it was not charging when I plugin my charger. It refuse to charge until the battery ran down and the laptop went off. It not been able to charge up till now. Could this be a DC IN POWER JACK problem cos I was told the laptop can work like a desktop without the battery?
Do you know if the M15/M17 R4 have the increased 3rd party charger power limit like the XPS line? I heard Dell increased it from 65w to 90w for the XPS laptops, so I was wondering if they did the same thing for the R4 range.
Great test! Is it safe to say the new Alienware X 14 laptop is the same case? It comes with the Dell 130w usbc adapter. I want to use my 97w Apple charger but it gets really hot during regular use and only provides 87w max. I haven’t tried gaming yet because it gets so hot
although it gets hot it will be fine, it will. to pull more power than the adapter is designed to put out. The x14 will be slightly throttled though as it needs the 130w to provide max performance. flow are you getting on with your 14?
charge it with your main power pack when you can, but usbc chargers can come in handy if you don't happen to have you proper charger with you or you want to travel light.

So I have an Alienware M17 R3 with 2070 Super and 300hz Screen with an i7, do you know if a 60 watt power adapter is enough to power it for just doing lighter tasks like web surfing and video playback? or will I need a higher watt power adapter like the XPS 130 Watt, so as to not drain battery?
It should be I tested my M17 r3 2080 super with a 65w charger and it did charge while doing light tasks, it starts to drain battery when you game and other demanding tasks
@@subaru6373 Please note it can also drain battery if you are in high performance mode (battery settings) you may have to use the MUX switch & fiddle with power settings for least CPU/GPU draw.....
Wow! This is what I am looking for. My X17 is arriving, and I wish I can charge it with a smaller charger instead of 330w heavy block. Since the thunderbolt port on X17 also support power delivery, I guess the dell 130w charger will work fine, right?

when I used the Dell 135w adapter there was no drain at all even at slightly heavier loads! Sorry I didn't test the lower bricks for drain as I kept using the 135w brick

Will any of these work on G15 Ryzen edition ? I am traveling soon and the power brick is as heavy as laptop lol. Will help alot if i could bring a light weight charger for light usage (no gaming ...)
Unfortunately dell didn’t implement power delivery on the g15 so that won’t work. You could try a dell 60 or 90w adapter, that should work and will be much smaller

Dell just decided not to include the power delivery components to save cost so a hardware issue. They even did it to the alienware m15r5 too. Only the new alienware X15/17 get power delivery

Yes, the thunder bolt 3/usb c port at the back of the laptop has power delivery enabled, you can use usb chargers or power banks on this port (ie you forgot your main charger or maybe you want to travel light)

This laptop on battery will last you 2 to 2and a half hour with a power bank combined what time do u expect it to long educated guess is maybe for an hour last
Don’t try to game on cause practically a gaming laptop is meant to be games while being plugged in and on battery for normal RUclips and excel PowerPoint type of stuff the best way u can test it is turn down the brightness to 70 60 percent in the proper visible range and do a 4K video playback
EVERY SINGLE PERSON on the internet swears that there is not a SINGLE compatible usb-c charger for alienware laptops... clearly they're all wrong. all of my research has led me to no solution possible except for this video. ugh, god damn reddit.

I think a lot of the problem is dell allow the laptop to hit 100c before ramping up the fans. Once the fans ramp up do your temps come down?

Are you using a m17 or m15? Cuz the product page of the dell charger doesn’t say it supports m15r3 as well.

no sorry, as soon as you plug the 240w in the USBC PD is disabled or the laptop could be damaged

If it is a decent branded charger then you certainly should. I don't have a 100w charger here to test though.
