@@eastcorkcheeses6448 nonsense, there are already houses built on the line. now they've added elaborate bridges just for cattle too low to fit a train under.
the house is the reason you see the track curve around it, the rail track if it is replaced has enough space alloted for it to the side which it wouldn`t have had if they took the line straight across the front as for the cattle bridge very easy to take out the centre part to allow for the raising of the height of the bridge and would really not add cost much more to the cost@@goldiefish72

Cracking video….. quality drone control 👌🏻 I’m all for the new greenway BUT it needs a certain amount of amenities provided too, MAYBE toilets along the way BUT most definitely buildings for business to setup in order for services to be provided along the way…. Maybe there will going forward, can’t see it happening though as that type of work hasn’t started yet 🤔🤔🤔
I totally agree. Footage looks amazing, & the idea of a green way is wonderful. But it wld definitely need toilets along the way, & personally I wld definitely want to stop for a coffee somewhere along the journey. 🙂
Wasted opportunity not restoring the rail line, would have been brilliant for relieving the N25 for commuters and tourists, and no it does not protect the route as the argument will now be there to retain this greenway instead of providing a way for people to get out of cars.
A recorded 280 to 300 thousand people visited waterford greenway in 12 months and The benefits of high numbers using the Waterford Greenway not only benefits to people’s health and well-being, environmental benefits etc, it also has a positive impact on our local economy and so many local businesses which benefit directly and indirectly from the increased footfall. Impacts can be felt directly by businesses such as bike hire operators, cafés, restaurants, shops and accommodation providers. However a broader impact can be noted by suppliers and other services that support these businesses.
@@smothyism How many people drove from Youghal to Midleton/Little Island/Cobh/Cork/Mallow and beyond because the government decided tourism is more important than commuters and those without cars?
@phantom1c3man70 you hit the nail on the head. Nearly everyone has a car today; the roads are so good that it takes 45 mins to get from youghal to cork city or surrounding areas, and with improvements to dunkettle roundabout it will be 40 min trip. So most people are not going to walk by there car to set out to get the train from the city centre and on to youghal. There is a bus from midleton to youghal. Or there is an option to take your bike onto the train, electric bikes are growing in popularity which suit the greenway and cycling lanes around cork city. With the move toward electric or hydrogen cars and are current investment in roads and what the greenway will bring there is no argument against it.
The "land owner" built a barn on the bed of the old line . I use the term land owner lightly as I'm not sure he had the legal right to do so . They could have ploughed through his yard regardless , but then he would could have objected to the greenway . Maybe this was a compromise to keep the project alive.
Is it possible to move the greenway along a different route if Irish Rail decides to rebuild the railway to Youghal? I’ve been speaking with them about reinstating rail travel to Youghal as part of a suggested rapid transit system for Cork.
Absolute stupidity and shortsightedness to bury this Railway under an asphalt path just for a minority of recreational users. How many Commuters will Cycle on this path ?
This is a criminal act .East cork is choked with traffic ,and crying out for the rail line to youghal be restored ,try go through Castlemartyr and lake view round about every day . New housing estates are soon opening in midleton, then the s will hit the f, a d cause motorists to be more aggressive due to frustration by traffic congestion ,the local tds have done nothing to address the problem in East cork. I would plead with them to reverse this crazy codology and demand from the greenneies to put the bikes on hold and do the common sense thing if that condition is still available in the dail , Put the iron horse back reverse this stupid decision, Annoyed Motorist midleton
Excellent video. Really shows how flat that part of east Cork is and how suitable it is for a greenway for all age groups. Great job.
You could argue that it also shows how easy it would have been to reinstate the railway
The greenway will be a far better use of the old line in this case , and it preserves the line for transport for later use ,

Wow Absolutely delighted to have this on my Doorstep 🙌🙌Great video
Very nice video. Thanks for that. All Midleton, Youghal and all the villages on the way are waiting for great opening early in 2035.
At the current rate of progress, and the last indicated opening time of 'early to mid 2024' now well missed, I fear you may be correct.
Looks amazing 👍
Beautiful video, thanks for sharing
great job! well done!
The seat on your bike goes really high 👍
lmao every time the drone went over a fence i flinched waiting for it to hit me in the stomach!
Great video, can't wait until this opens. Save roads for all ages
Mighty footage thanks for the update
Limerick and Waterford ones very nice. East Cork will benefit so much.

Hopefully because it looks kinda lonely as is, not sure I'd go it alone tbh.
i walked it alone regularly from the time i was only 4 lol, and long before they even started the green way it`s a lovely area to walk@@maryconnell888

Well said!
Why is their a part after killeagh that goes around a yard and not on the orignal rail line ?

Hope they put lights there
Excellent work. A pity that construction seems to be proceeding at a glacial pace.
Asked a question 3 weeks ago about the next phase opening. Might never get an answer. Glacial indeed, are they even working on it?
Is this limited to 250watt ebikes?Cops will clean up if they start checking bike wattage.
Didn't know that was even a thing
Do you have any footage on the new Dunkettle to Middleton greenway yet?
No , but might do it over the coming weeks .
Whatever about the arguments for the train, at least it's being used now and looks a great cycle route.
Put the railway back
They should move the greenway to do that.
A greenway in name only, should be renamed to "Tarmac way that should have been a train track"
Makes you wonder why rail services stopped, doesnt it (/s)
Aer lingus should give you a job Dronehawk 😀👍

Greenwashing Greenways!
Any decade now theyll be nearly finished ,

The railway that had regular services stopped 60 years ago, and last had a train in 1988, and was then left to rot?
Great video. Pity you spelled Length wrongly again :)
Deliberately so . Just checking to see who is watching to the end . Top marks to you sir ; - )
