Hi Russ. I put the Suntour on my Cruiser Pro. I have the 30.9 without a sleeve. Also came with a cover that wraps around the mechanical part to keep dirt out of the mechanism. I still have the original MC seat. Made a huge difference in comfort on bumps. Am considering a Cloud 9 seat.
When I installed the seat post I left the clamp in the same position. I had slippage also and actually the seatpost would slip down into the tube until it would bottom out. I would have to stop during the trial ride and readjust the tension. Finally got it tight enough to stay where I set it.
    BTW great helmet!!

I tried the up down ones and was not impressed. I took a chance and ordered the Suntour suspension seat post and all I can say is wow. This is a complete game changer, after riding almost 11,000 miles on my Ecotric hardtail I wonder how I ever made it. I put it on my Philodo AWD and I could not be happier. I don't think I will ever ride without one ever again. I had to get a sleeve too because I wanted to use the post on my Ecotric as well as the Philodo. I highly recommend the seat post. I have almost 3000 miles on mine and this old body is thankful : )

I put a Suntour seatpost on my Cannondale trail 5, mine is 31.6mm and doesn't have a shim. The ones with the shims are probably better, they're lighter as there's less metal and with different sized shims they can be swapped between bikes. Line up the open part of the shim with the open part of the frame and tighten it until there is no unwanted movement....it shouldn't slide around. It's great for small bumps.

Suntour's are nice for the price and are game changers for any hardtails. The seat should compress slightly when you sit on it so that it can absorb the impacts and keep you level so you shouldn't be bouncing around. You should get the red springs if you weigh over 180bs but can manage with the stock springs if you are in the lower 200's. Just keep trying to tighten the seat post until it doesn't spin and it is a pet peeve when drivers wait and cause a stand off when they get to the intersection well before you.

Many years ago I got a new seat and post for my 10 speed and the post had a sleeve, total waste of money. After getting my Ocelot Pro I quickly decided to get get the Suntour so I measured my post and went to Amazon to find one with the correct diameter. No one in the U.S. carried the 30.9 post (at least no one that ships through amazon), it ships through amazon so I took a chance. It came in 10 days fit perfectly with no sleeve and I am very happy with it. My recommendation is too stay away from post's with a sleeve. My new thick Bikeroo seat just came in the mail so I'm gonna put that on and go for a ride now.

Thanks for this review been thinking about about this modification for some time magicycle is a few dollars more than Amazon and it will take longer to get it but not everyone sells it with that sleeve. I have the cruiser step through and am 5 6 or 5 7 79yrs ol d and shrinking all the time don't know if the only one but i can't even step through. The only way i can get on it is to step on the pedal push off and swing my leg over. Once im on i can stop and straddle between the seat a d the handle bar but there really isn't a lot of clearance . Yeah its a lot of bike for my size and it takes determination to rid it . Its weird it's not really a bike and not really motorcycle its somewhere in the land between. Don't get me wrong i actually like that its big and has torque for days . Some folks have expressed concern for the manual disk brakes personally once adjusted mine work really well. I was lucky and found a dealer on Craigslist really good guy works out of his home he had a demo the standard i rode it and it was way to big so i ordered the step through as ive been saying still a big machine. I payed 1,250 including shipping and tax i have about 400 in excessories. Russ you have been a great help help to me as well. Anyone older thinking about an ebike needs to do two things find a dealer that can help you make the best decision and watch your channel before they buy.

I’m with you on the people waiving me to go thru. This especially dangerous when someone can slip by the person waiving you thru and you a making a left on your bike. I would rather they not do it and just follow the rules of the road, I know they are trying to be nice, but it can also be dangerous.

Nice to see spring has arrived in your area. It is so pretty on your rides. Yes, sewing the wind covers on your mic sounds like a good idea. I wonder if there is a temporary type glue or putty that would work. Makes you wonder how the company intend for them to stay on. I hope to ride tomorrow after I mow the lawn! It sure does grow fast right now. I agree, the more you ride the better your balance gets. Most folks here stop for me and wave me through.

Hey Russ great to see you on your first Magicycle, the Crusier Russ Pro. I've highly considered the Suntour Seatpost for my MC Crusier Pro but think it will be too high for me bc of its configuration. I have the Giddyup XL seat too, very comfortable, and is at a low setting as it is. I also experienced slight slippage going side to side. Velofix sprayed something on the post and it no longer moves. I'll reach out to Velofix and let you know what it was probably something sticky like you said in the video👍

I’ve tried the Giddyup oversized and the Cloud 9 seats but believe me the Selle Royal is superior. I trust the Pedal with Power guy and he uses that saddle on his Lectric bikes… take care,

It’s hard to impossible to communicate with drivers, I can’t tell if they are letting me go or texting and will come flying out when I go. Often with window glare and tint I can’t really see them. I prefer they just go if it’s their turn.

Hi Russ. I was going to buy a suspension seat post, but I couldn't find one that I liked and I didn't know exactly the size of my original seat post. (Which I don't understand why we call bike seats 'saddles', yet we call it a suspension 'seat' post) But anyways, I decided to switch my saddle with my old scooter seat. My old scooter seat is extremely comfortable on my e bike, it has built in suspensions and it's a very cushion, I switched it about a month ago and have no regrets.
A few nights ago I unlocked my e bike to level 3 with 9 pedal assists, but after trying it out a few times, I decided to change it back to level 2 with 5 pedal assists. I already had it set for 40 km/hr but it hardly went that fast with 5 assists, but after I changed it to 9, it went fast. On pedal assist 6 I was going an average of 35 km/hr and up to 40, it's just too fast for me.
Thanks again for another good video, I enjoy watching ur videos a few times after you upload them.

Russ, Not sure if you realize but Suntour sells two springs for the suspension seatpost (a blue one is standard and a red one for heavier riders). I don’t think Magicycle sells the springs. I put one on my Ocelot Pro, and got it with the spring for a heavier person. They just send you the spring and you replace it yourself (it’s trivial). Like you I am a heavy guy and the stiffer spring makes a difference (over the lighter spring I put on my wife’s bike). Also, you can tighten the nut on the seat post quick release enough that it requires a lot of force to close it and the thing won’t move.

I too can do without any suspension, but the bikes that I have them on are a definitely appreciated. You mention about adding a suspension seat to the soft tail ebike, and it would either do as you said bounce around more than you would ordinarily without any injury. Another possibility is you actually causing yourself an injury with too much movement in going back & forth even long after you’ve gone over the bump. Lol

I have one of those adapters and I’m not a big fan. You only have the friction going over about a 4 inch area instead of the entire seat tube. It means you have to just about over tighten the clamp. As for balance, I would agree it gets better the more you ride. But we can accelerate that by practicing just that. Won’t be long you’ll come up to a red light and never take your feet off the petals. Good rod.

With a Suntour seatpost I prefer a saddle that doesn't have the metal springs under it, as you mentioned it seems to give a lot of that "sliding around in the seat" you are feeling. No springs or even the non metal ones seem to give a better ride with a suspension seatpost to me. Great Vid, keep er up Russ.

Good to know, as both my Cloud 9 and Bikeroo seats didn't come with the seat springs! I also heard that the seats with springs, if you are a shorter person and have the seat nearly all the way to the bottom, when you hit a bump the springs will dig into (those of us that have one) the rear rack! I have my seat up fairly high, and my Suntour NCX should arrive in a few days, so looking forward to giving it a try after reading about the positive reviews. I did hear the Kinekt post seems to check all the boxes, but is extremely expensive for the average rider.

Here in South Carolina drivers don't normally ask you to go first. They want to beat you through the intersection, so you just have to try to survive in those situations. However, when I was in North Augusta, SC those people went out of their way to make me feel safe and special. I felt like royalty as they always stopped and waved me forward even when there wasn't a stop sign.

I have talked a lot about ebike batteries and potential fires. Seems most fires happen when overcharging, but it's not the only time. Some things to remember is not to charge the battery immediately after riding. Give it some time to cool off first before charging. Also, take the battery off the charger the moment the charger goes from red to green. Overcharging is the biggest issue for these fires it seems.

I can barely get on the bike now since I have to swing my leg over the bike to get on and I don't have a seat post. How much higher is it raised and how does it affect you when jumping off at stop signs and street lights? You are almost as tall as me and weigh about the same and have knee issues just like me, so your experience is important for decisions. Is it different on a 26" tire vs a smaller one? oh man, too many questions.. sorry.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  Год назад +1

If I had to guess, I'd say it raises it maybe 1.5 to 2 inches taller. When I sit on it, it compresses back to where it should be if I didn't have a suspension seat post. Hopping off it at a stop isn't really that big a deal since I do that anyway with a standard saddle/seatpost. Getting on it, I have to step on the lower pedal and rise up a little bit more to get on. That's probably the part that takes a little more getting used to since it could be up to 1.5 to 2 inches higher. I have not put the Suntour on a 20" tire bike yet, but I will try it on the Jaguarundi soon. Stay tuned!

There’s no real evidence that is true. I always heard that growing up in Ohio, and while it’s technically possible (you can sue someone for virtually anything, the trick is whether it survives dismissal), there is no evidence that has ever happened. Apparently there is a case in Virginia where that happened, but they were outside their car and had obstensibly checked and waived someone on who got hit. Contrast that with things like turn signals. You are 100% obligated to use them, few do, nobody gets in trouble. You cannot get successfully sued for waiving someone to go in front of you, barring some extraordinarily weird circumstance.
