god i would give everything to be able to watch this show in person. living in asia is a BUMMER when all the broadway shows i want to see are in new york and the exchange rates are hella high
I school did this as our spring musical last year (2019) and it was one of our best productions to date. Even if our Papa Ge was recovering from a bad sinus infection
This makes me so emotional! I did this play in the 8th grade and I will never forget how electrifying and memorable it was! I’m 26 now & I still know word for word
This production deservingly won the Tony for best musical. Kudos to Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, the entire cast, crew, and, of course, its mega talented director and visualizer Michael Arden.
I did this show for the spring musical at my school. This musical is one of the best musicals i was introduced to and i would love to see it in person if i had the ability.
Ahhhh I remember when I did this show. This number was the most fun to dance to!! Our choreographer did this number so well and this was everyone’s favorite
Lea salonga is really a great different breed of Filipino singers/ performer. There are great Regine the Queen of the Philippines but when it comes to Lea there is a high respect to many singer here in the Philippines. My god i love my race 😂❤❤❤
What I really want to see is the gods transforming into the gods onstage. Because I hear they pick up trash to make their outfits and splash paint on their faces and stuff like that Also hey Daniel, what are you doing on this side of the island?
NayvieNoir they do. If you look you can see Agwe, asaka, and papa ge in the video. The concept is that the entire broadway show is a story being told to a little girl and all the characters are just people telling the story. So that’s why if you look at the video, we asaka just has a table cloth thrown around her waste and something wrapped her head, but the next time we see her, her costume starts to become more full and glamorous. In other words, the longer the story goes on, the more elaborate and cool the costumes become. As for why Daniel is on the island, it’s because of the first reason, the story we are seeing is actually just being acted out by the villagers. The guy dancing is essentially playing Daniel in the story once it starts just like the fisherman is playing agwe and the cook plays asaka
our school is doing this musical and i'm a storyteller but this is like the only song that is normal since they had to shorten like the whole musical because the school has a "time limit" of only 30 mins
I wish I got to see this :'( People who are priviledged to afford to go and have it playing in their area don't know how lucky and priviledged they are. At least there's RUclips

Lea in this revival is kinda ironic....being Once On This Island won the best musical Tony over Miss Saigon, the year she won the best actress Tony for the latter....if i remember correctly. This is a truly great show.

I KNOW RIGHT
I KNOW RIGHT but i wanna see it so badly! But alas it will close by Jan 6
I live right here in Florida and being so close yet so far hurts so much lol
I’ve seen it. To tell you, it was incredible beautiful.
I school did this as our spring musical last year (2019) and it was one of our best productions to date. Even if our Papa Ge was recovering from a bad sinus infection
I can hear Lea Salonga's voice even when they're singing in unison.
That's so interesting, because I totally hear Lea at 2:05, but right after that you see her singing something that I totally can't hear!
Ezulie, Beautiful Goddess of Love ❤️ Portrayed by The Broadway Diva "Lea Salonga"
Was that Unique from Glee?! Omg!! And of course, Philippine pride, Ms Lea Salonga! I hope they will be putting shows here in the Philippines!!! 😭😭✨

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND IS AMAZING!!! I WILL COME SEE U GUYS IN APRIL AND I WAS VILLAGER 2 THIS SUMMER
IT'S CLOSING

Best revival of a musical. It lost Best Musical (as did Miss Saigon!) back in 1991 to The Will Rogers Follies.
This is all I needed since I first heard the cast recording.
Merle Dandridge is just perfection
I've never seen a video this perfect.
ugh, everyone is SO engaged, I love it.
I Love You Soooo Much Miss LEA SALONGAAAAA!!!!! The Philippines GREATEST PRIDE IN SINGING, MUSIC, ACTING AND ENTERTAINMENT!!!!! 💖💖💖😊😊.
This quickly became a favorite of mine and an awesome way to start a show
Since music videos are still being released, I’d love one of Forever Yours. Love when Papa Ge comes in on that song.
I did this show for the spring musical at my school. This musical is one of the best musicals i was introduced to and i would love to see it in person if i had the ability.

oh my god these make so happy I JUST WANT TO SEE THE SHOW IN PERSON SO BAD
I😍Merle Dandridge! She is also my god so Papa Ge is my favorite😍😃
I went to see Wicked on Broadway and the theatre next to it housed Once On This Only. If only my family had the money to see both in one trip!!
UPDATE! THE SHOW IS CLOSING JANUARY 6,2019!😭😭 IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE, SEE IT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T😩
Merle as Papa Ge🔥🔥🔥👏🏽
One of my favorite shows! Thank you for bringing this beautiful song to life
You can just see the feeling in that room oh my god

This is really underrated omg
i really hope after OOTI is finish someone will post a full show sucks living in the Philippines can't travel
pwede ka namang magtravel, mahal nga lang
Even if you live here in nyc, shows cost a fortune unfortunately.
It toured the US but unfortunately it closed right as COVID hit. Last city it played was Las Vegas.
I know it's been a year so idk if you already saw this

Exactly my sentiment!! I love how they show snippets of the show for us who can't watch it...huhu wish they start touring this
if you look at papa ge's spikes, their made out of old coke can and agwe's like moss hat is made from paper strips.
It's so fascinating seeing characters costume change on stage slowly taking on their roles...kudos to the costume designer so much!!
I saw this show on Broadway. The scenes don't do it justice. It was absolutely INCREDIBLE.
I need to see the show so bad it looks amazing but it sucks when you live in the UK 🇬🇧
or somewhere in Asia
I really hope they'll stream Once On This Island this time! A lot outside of US would want to see this show too. Please... 🙏😢
