There are plenty of those vids...the M340i is tough to beat. I have a 2018 Q50RS. The M340i doesn't seem to have any trouble with the Q50RS, especially from a dig. Result is similar to what you saw in this video, the M340i just launches so much harder. Q50RS is a great car but the M340i has more HP at the wheels even though it's rated 382hp vs 400hp. BMW horses seem to be a little stronger than Infiniti horses lol. The ZF8A is also vastly superior to the crappy Jatco 7AT in the Q and that definitely helps both the launch and quicker shifts.
The Infiniti Q50 RS is slightly faster than the G70 off the line if you look at the 0-60 times. Neither the G70 nor Q50 RS will run with the BMW M3 but there is a huge price difference as well. The M340i takes off like a Model 3 Performance! Glad to see this matchup, the G70 is a great first effort by Genesis but the fanboi's needed some humbling haha. Lot's of vids of what has to be heavily modded G70 3.3T's beating M340i's, Supras (with identical powertrain and better hp/weight) etc and claiming nothing, or very little, has been done to the G70's. Consensus: M340i is faster... a lot faster. Period. Yes, the M340i is $10k more. I think this video proves why that is. The M340i is in a different league as far as engines and engineering is concerned.
BMW has very poor mechanical/electrical engineering. I have a E90 335D and a G70 3.3t. Out of both brands, I'd say a tuned G70 is the better choice than a stock or tuned M340i. My E90 has all sorts of electrical issues including fan blower motor, oil leaks, FRM module etc. Sometimes when I work on the BMW I always question why they designed a component this way. Its over-engineered and will complicate your wallet as it ages. The G70 has no electrical issue so far.

I think the company is focused on sales and brand recognition. If they get a stronger foothold in the market, they will most likely start to focus on the performance aspect. Similar platforms to it's siblings is nothing new in the industry. It's a cost savings on the manufacturing side of things.
Can definitely say with 100% certainty that the G70 wasn't being launched correctly I could tell by exhaust sound, how crappy the launch was and by your statement that it said launch control ready while you were already in motion. I don't know if you eventually got it right because there were no other vids showing as well as the first launch. There are so many things wrong with this comment I don’t even know where to start. BMW sound system is notoriously weak compared to what Genesis offers in their Lexicon system (similar to B&O). Genesis gives way more exciting features and the 10yr warranty on the powertrain clearly shows their commitment to quality and their efforts to make a reliable product both of which don’t exist with not just BMW but any German product.

BMW was getting rolling starts for several of those runs. However, it still would be faster just not as fast as this video makes it look.
The launch control in BMW will completely wreck the Genesis if it was used properly. The driver does not know how to use it hence he rolled. IF he has the foot on the brakes the engine will go to Launch control and you will not be able to stop it until you launch. It wont roll

Genesis is protecting their drivetrains for 100k miles. Tune that out and is as quick or quicker than the bmw and Audi but you can do the same to both
What?
Well that was to be expected. Still like the G70 a bit better though.
Bro you you trying to make the G70 lose worse? I mean obviously the M340i would win but your not doing the best on the cut. All in all that BMW is on crack and makes way more than 380hp or it's secretly tuned.
I am still getting this car because of those exterior, curves, interior and more. But Genesis needs to go back to the drawing board and redesign a better place and better cooling for their turbos. It seems that heat got to the car. Genesis needs to be different in engine design from their siblings Kia/ Hyundai. I do understand reliability is a factor but just redesign a place for them turbos.
I think the company is focused on sales and brand recognition. If they get a stronger foothold in the market, they will most likely start to focus on the performance aspect. Similar platforms to it's siblings is nothing new in the industry. It's a cost savings on the manufacturing side of things.
I love both cars but this was a pretty interesting match up
The m340i is faster then a rwd m5 to the quartermile I believe...very fast car from a stop
True
Can definitely say with 100% certainty that the G70 wasn't being launched correctly I could tell by exhaust sound, how crappy the launch was and by your statement that it said launch control ready while you were already in motion. I don't know if you eventually got it right because there were no other vids showing as well as the first launch. If it was done correctly it would say launch control ready before you release the break then to launch control active after you released it. You can watch any other launch vid and see this. Also you guys should have switched cars afterwards. Clearly the M340i has more power so it should win but there were a lot of different variables adding to it which made the loss look much worse then it should have.
There’s no variables- the G70 has a terrible launch. It ends there
The M340i should destroy the IS500 for 0-60 if that's your thing. I'm still impressed with the G70 though. That 3.3TT is a fun engine with a nice chassis.
The G70 drives like an E90 3 series, it really is good. But the engine is outclassed by the B58TU in the M340i.
@@mholmes9262 I agree... it is hard to beat BMW at its game, inline-6 engines. There are good choices across the board but they're benchlining a BMW. I know the M340 is quicker but I plan to get an IS500
@@timw2083 those were the 2 cars i was looking at. went for the m340i because i didnt want to wait till September
@@blackfish4674 I think the M340 is a great car on paper. I haven't driven it cause I don't want to lose focus on the IS.. 🤣🤣🤣
@@timw2083 oh its a great car on the road as well, but I wish it sounded like the is500
And THIS my friends, is German Engineering. 1000 times better performance
I would love to see the m340i vs a tuned 335! Or M3 vs tuned 335.
Well I have an n54, I raced a fbo M3 and I was fbo e85. I won the race 3 times by a couple car lengths
How about getting a 330i match up
That is a 2.0 4cyl
@@vvsr1043 yes I know that
I don't think I saw one start that you didn't lag behind in the launch with the Genesis. Every single start the BMW moved 1st. I'm fine with the BMW being a tad faster but the starts weren't fair. Also..it isn't $15,000 faster.
There’s nothing like a boosted inline 6. BMW has perfected the formula. After the novelty wears off all the new imports, everyone returns to the true ultimate driving machines that truly gives you all the performance and technology you could ever ask for. Let’s not forget the awesome stereos to boot. Toyota was smart enough to bring back the Supra with BMW’s inline 6 to stay true to its roots.
There are so many things wrong with this comment I don’t even know where to start. BMW sound system is notoriously weak compared to what Genesis offers in their Lexicon system (similar to B&O). And people berate Supra for exactly not following their roots and instead got a European motor and transmission for cost cutting.
@@frf1670 My Bowers & Wilkins in my 2019 750 tells me different. I like lexicon. I sold Harman international products for years but have always used B&W home speakers or Def Tech. As far as the Supra goes.........what other decent in-line 6 should they have went with since they didn’t build their own. Decent choice for people not stuck with only wanting the new, overpriced choices from asian manufacturers running about. If I am gonna pay anything over 50grand, I must have not only the service, but also the badge to go along with the performance. BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus, Caddy, Acura, Infinity, Genesis (My personal order of preference)
@@biggboyb6381 yeah B&W doesn’t exist in lower priced bmw models. You get the crappy Harman Kardon with zero lows. You won’t see B&W in a 3 series. That lexicon is super cheap compared to what you have to pay to get a B&W from BMW or a 3D B&O system from Audi. The Mk4 Supra was a halo 100k car. Yes it’s far more accessible now but BMW M2 is a better car in every way than the Supra for same money. It’s just a money grab for Toyota touting the Supra name. At least Honda didn’t do that to their NSX albeit the poor sales. At least make it faster with manual transmission and a Toyota interior instead of poorly designed bmw mush up interior. It was also a 4 seater before. It’s literally a Z4 or a M240i with a body kit. The steering is typical non-M bmw and it really doesn’t feel one bit Toyota inside and out. That’s why people berates it. Supra lost its soul. I wanted one till I rented one for a week. B58 is great but just wait till bmw putting an S58 in their new M2 for the same price as a Supra to render the Zupra pointless
@@frf1670 I figured people would turn to M2 over the Supra. Hopefully Toyota will correct the issues with it. In the meantime, Lexus IS on the right track with ISF etc. I’m a big guy. I never bother looking at 3 - 5 series. I never liked the choice of amenities. 7 Series, S8, S63, or LS500 are my go to autos
@@biggboyb6381 bet a LC500 would fit your bills? I think they are making a LC-F

@@792bnz I didn't say you are, but we understand.
The M340i is at 382hp. The G70 is only 365. So its not surprising that they're losing the race. The G70 was made more toward luxury than performance. The M340i was supposed to be a mix of both but more performance than luxury. Thus the absence of a lot of luxury features.

I believe the genesis does not build any boost with the launch control so the BMW always has the upper hand. If it made boost you'd be a little closer.
