- Mixing Engineer Michael Brauer joins Dave and Herb on the 70th episode of Pensado's Place! Skyping in from Electric Lady Studios, NY (www.electricladystudios.com/), Michael talks about his methodology when transitioning from mixing one genre to a drastically different one, along with his approach to starting a mix for a band and what to focus on. Later on Michael joins Dave in the Batter's Box and answer's viewer's questions in this week's Corner Office.

Seriously, everyone should listen to Twin Shadow's "Five Seconds". Such a great song. Brauer did a phenomenal job. I've been listening to this song almost every day for the past few weeks.

I am from Los Angeles, and there's a guys here who does axcellent mixes called Raz Klinghoffer, you should check out his mixes their really good
ha, Brauer just had a Freudian slip. "Living in NYC reminds me of car passing by." For mostly itb bro's like me that should remind you of a certain preset on Wave's LoAir.

His assistant Ryan uses the Oxford De-esser, and his approach is non-traditional in that (then Dave cuts him off with the next question!) What? (45 min)
It's not so strange when you consider the current economic trend, the time constraints and the tools we have at our disposal. It's still undesirable to do it yourself, but having to deal with the reality of the market is better to get as much valuable info as possible to do it.
He uses the mix% on the Oxford.

Yeah I'd agree with you in principle, but we don't all work on singles. In TV production for example you don't have days you have hours and often working on a revenue share business model, no budget fro mastering whatsoever. We all have to wear different hats nowadays, it's unfortunate and I don't like it, but that's just the way it is.
