So Dave.....That mic placement question was brilliant. You're approach to asking questions is approaching a jedi master. Kudos.
I'm kind of new in this block but I'm learning so much from every single time I watch the show. I've been a guitarist (mainly rock) for years and now I'm entering this world of sound engineering and I'm absolutely amazed by it. Thanks for making this journey so enjoyable.
And the transient designer turned all the way (no attack, full release) as a parallel is magical. On background vocals and percussion it allows for less level and more clarity, without it sounding distant. Kind of like using a real piano instead of a sampled one. You get a sense of air and harmonic content. Great technique.
Thanks Dave and Team!! You are the best!
Thank you so much for having Joe again, very enjoyable and informative!
I truly enjoy the shows...Thank you and thank your sponsors.
Always great... watching, enjoying and learning!
love you guys
Guys - you are REALLY one of the most amazing things on RUclips for me!!
Loving the shows - Keep up the good work!!!!
Joe Barresi..one of my favorite mix engineers!
This was a great episode!
You guys are great! Really enjoy this channel! Keep up the great work!
that Joe Barresi interview was great

Thanks y'all! Keep it coming!
Joe - Love ya bro! Keep rockin'!
Dave - thanks so much for this show. Love it!!!
Excellent ITL - inspiring. Great show, as always. A big Thank You : )
Oh man ... that would be so awesome!
Just Great!!! excellent work
Great ITL Dave! Definitely will be using that a lot. Thanks!
Oh and Interview Herb about industry advise! an hour of industry related info would be amazing.
Very informative interview!
Amazing!.
Why was this show so short? I could happily have watched two hours with Joe, let alone 45 minutes!
@Bassplaya4string I second this! Was cool hearing Joe talk about the mixing of KING ANIMAL!!
The 441 works great on snare. Being hypercardioid, if you are careful (the back end is more sensitive than in a cardioid, and there´s is a roll-off that has to be disengaged) you get great separation. The smack and tone are fantastic.
Do guy know Raz Klinghoffer the producer?
Heard his mixes and they were awesome
Love our returning champs, would love to see Chiccarelli back in the hot seat!
I'm more of a hip hop head but a friend of mine put me on to him about a year ago. Man, what a talent....Imagine Devin (my bad for the earlier misspell) on here with Dave and Herb...
I think I found the triangle on Bad Religion's "New Maps of Hell": The song "Requiem for Dissent", second chorus, during the third shout of the word "REQUIEM!"
Love Herb's shirt on this one.
Hey guys! Lovin all the shows, kind of addicted! one of my favorite engineers/mixers is Gabriel Roth of Daptone Records. If you ever get to NY look him up. He's got some great philosophy on not only recording but music in general. Seems like a great fit for your show! keep up the awesome work
Definitely a huge influence on how I mix rock music! Love me some Barresi. I wish he would talk more about the Fair to Midland record he did. I love everything about that record but the drums. They aren't what I had come to expect from the band and from Joe. I'm really curious to know what he did differently and if it was a band/Joe decision or if I'm just hearing things
Dear Pensado's Place,
This post is to ask you to force Andy Wallace to come on your show. The man is a magician, and very secretive so far.
Thanks!
Anthony P.
Is the live show at NAMM still gonna happen?! I will be there!!!!
Awesome
Hey Dave!!! I've watched EVERY show so far! Love what you are doing! Would you ever have the chance to bring Max Martin, Hans Zimmer or Mike Shinoda on the show? :)
Have a Great 2013 from England! :D
Love the show, I've learnt so much! How about inviting Steve Albini, Quincy Jones or Andy Wallace on the show!?

joe is a god
Wow! Joe B. was on. This is like a better version of episode #146 that just happened. They talked about a lot of the same stuff but the answers were a lot more in depth, I think Joe must have been in a better mood or mental state.
Herb! You slave driver!!! You cut them off when the interview was getting really good. We don't mind if the episode is 2 hours!
Lol, I thought Greg Wells was in the studio with them today, and he was just sitting very stilll
Devin Townsend would be a great guest
UP :D
Terry Date??? any chance......
Yes! Get Alan Moulder
Can there be a show with Bob Olhsson sometime? Pretty please?
Guys, GET ANDY SNEAP!

Too bad they didn't speak about Kyuss records. Joe Barresi impress me each time I lsiten to them. I mean "HOW THAT MANY BASS !!?"
Still, super interesting interview, thanks guys !
36:12
Batter's Box 32:06
Get brendan o'brien on your show!!
Phil Ramone? OK I'm pushing it lol.
Chill out, he said the vocals could have been on pop songs, and he meant they are melodic, layered, well produced and arranged.
Bias here is off the charts, these dudes may be technically apt, but are so self congratulatory
No cutting? Very interesting!
Crazy, right? The opposite of what we're taught when it comes to low ends.
Heeeyyyy Don't I know you from somewhere?
Bruce Willis of mixing
i wanted to hear somthin about bass!
you missed it? He said the BYOC Rat he built is his current favorite bass distortion pedal
yeah but i mean more detail about recording and mixing
Get Bob Rock
No, no.. there seems to be a misunderstanding here... YOU ARE!
bruce willis brother
