Su-30SM is my favorite Russian Fighter Aircraft. At first glance, I fell in love of it. Wonderful aircraft. Combination of Beauty and Lethal ability. Two thumbs up for Sukhoi. Long live Russia !!!

I know Su30 SM is based on Su30 MKI, but what is the difference between them
30SM features all made-in-Russia components and avionics in order not to depend on foreign countries for the supply chain of the jet.

Why does the Su 30 have both a tail and canards? If anyone can respond that would be greatly appreciated :)
They serve different roles. The canards are not really used for pitching the aircraft as their main role. They are used to control LERX vortices to boost lift and performance, reducing drag and improving handling in post-stall conditions. They also help alleviate pilot fatigue when flying at low altitude as they dampen aircraft 'bumps' in the air and they also act as a "device for shifting airplane's center of pressure". With them aligned with the wings, the jet acts more unstable (agile) but then when pitched down, CP shifts back again and makes the plane easier to control. It's a bunch of things really.
Does SU-30SM has thrust vectoring like SU-35 ?
Of course! Otherwise it wouldn't be able to perform half the maneuvers on the video ;)
Oryza sativa They're not the same though. The 35's engines have higher angles of declination, and more thrust. They are some ten years apart in terms of development.

Su30mki is best variant. Su35s has better engines n additional payloads n range.
I prefer Su-30SM.

Can you tell, why there's slightly difference to another SU 3O? The small wings on the front. I know several of SU 30 don't have them.

The canards help improve aircraft performance in several areas. Most notoriously they supposedly reduce maenuvering drag (help the jet retain energy better through high load factor turns), they help the jet boost its controllability in high alpha and they reduce pilot fatigue in low altitude flight (strike, deep penetration roles), by means of soothing the 'bumps' that the pilots suffer in rough air. This comes with some penalties though. Canards increase the aircraft's RCS (radar cross section) making them easier to detect with radar and they add a small drag penalty for crusing flight conditions.

It's more expensive but the feeling is so realistic it makes it worth it :)

Interestingly in SU35 there is no cannard wing, I wonder what is the pros and cons with tne cannard wing? Thyphoon and Rafale have it but not SU35, yet it is able to manouvre even more impressive than SU30 (I think).
Main con for the canards are RCS (Radar cross section). So it was removed on the SU-35 to improve the radar evading features of the plane. Not that it is stealth but canards make it easier to get targeted. On the other hand, canards allow for better aerodynamic control of airflow over wing root. I suppose that it allows to improve and optimize the corner speed of the aircraft in addition to help in extreme maneuvering but that's my guess. Not sure why they left it on the 30SM but there must be a reason since there they are. I think it also helps maneuvering a heavier aircraft, as compared to the SU-35. SU-35 is slightly lighter. It also had the airbrake removed and replaced by rudderbrakes. I don't know why they didn't implement this on the 30SM. Likely a matter of money, and reusing what was already available to build cheaper.
Anyway, I'm glad they designed it like that. Double-cockpit and canards make it look so much sexier :D
Airguardian The more I think about cannard the more question I have. Interesting that Typhoon and Rafale are both delta wing (I forget Gripen too), and American jets don't use it at least not that I know of. I'm speculating that additional of litle front wing work best for delta wing plane, and in SU30 did not give maximum benefit with the cost of increase RCS. I guess with SU35 the engineer discover something better that kill 2 birds with 1 stone, maybe its what you said lighter plane and removing air brake.

Well, definitely the SU-35 LERX has such a design that combined with thrust vectoring nozzles and huge tailerons makes canards 'not-that-much-needed'. But I'd venture that they indeed do boost performance in certain areas so as to decide to leave them on the SU-30SM design. But what are those areas exactly, I can't but speculate.
The canards on the EF, Rafale, Gripen and SU-30SM all cover similar but slightly different roles. Their sizes and proximity to the wings varies greatly which in turn affect the way they do operate. For example, you can see that Gripen and Rafale deflect the canards up to take-off and land whereas this would be unthinkable in the Su-30 and Eurofighter.
Similarly, the EF and Rafale's canards have a huge weight in the stability control of the aircraft (They are constantly correcting up-down to center the nose) whereas those of the SU usually stay put at a certain deflection depending on the angle of attack (In order to manipulate the airflow over wingroot) but most of the job in stabilizing the plane is performed by the tailerons and nozzles. Hope that helps :)

SU 35 just has an upgraded engine with some more thrust and some software updates, right? I don't think it will outclass SU 30s. India upgrading it's SU30 MKIs to make them Super Sukhois that will be equivalent of the SU 35 which China is buying from Russia.
Not only... it also has a few aerodynamic improvements and is slightly more lightweight leading it to be a bit more agile compared to the 30SM, if I am not mistaken.

кстати я вам расскажу одну примечательную вещь))) су-37 был платформой для создания су-30см и су-35))) су -30см как раз и есть су-37 ))) а у су-35 применили другую технологию без передних закрылков)))что бы меншее сопротивление воздуха было ну и что бы был чуть мало заметен))кстати это у них и есть по сути движок 5 поколения( хоть за спортесь)) вектор тяги 360))просто им надо доработать его что бы выхлоп меньше был))
СУ-37 С тандемной кабиной ...)))
Согласно патенту PAKFA, двигатели на самом деле используют 2D вектором тяги.
Видео доступно до сих пор подтверждает это.

And the F22 is supposed to "kill"these guys(3D Vectoring) out the sky,without them knowing,they have been fired-upon..???!!..The new SU/MIG Generation Fighters have a new tool,just like the RAFALE F4(THALES ELECTRONICS(FRANCE)..RRDS(Rear radar defense system)twice the size of a regular flare,but the GPS calculate when to fire those huge cartridges,filled with marble size titanium"pellets",any missile or following Jet,will have to fly,threw a"steel"curtain,at MACH speed or sub,even fired from long distances,undetectable to any Jet radar.Good luck for"your canopy",Engine intakes and air-frame.......Anyone really believe that"stealth"Tech,has NO counter defense....???!!!!...Plus F22/35 both need a Tanker,close-by,even,for short training missions,if they do not want to use external fuel tanks/pylons/way under-armed..!!!.......Bye"STEALTH".
