I first dived in the Philippines in 2010 with Atlantis Divers. This vlog is from my second dive visit to Puerto Galera, diving with Captn' Greggs in 2017.
Puerto Galera diving offers diverse dive sites accessible via a five or ten-minute boat ride. It is a hub of marine biodiversity, offering some of the best diving in the Philippines - including macro, critters and wide-angle. It is home to various dive operators, resorts, and hotels that are sure to suit the most discerning dive enthusiast and photographer.
Here are some of the top dive sites in Puerto Galera:
1. The Wall - Located on Verde Island, the drop-off features huge sponges, fans, and a mix of colourful soft and hard coral. You can spot manta rays, eagle rays, barracudas, schools of bigeye jack and tuna.
2. Manila Channel - It is a terrific muck diving site with a nice sandy bottom and hard coral spots. It also features two walls that are covered with sponges and a variety of corals. You'll find mantis shrimps, nudibranchs, eels, and crabs at this dive site. With only a mild current and good visibility, the site is suitable for all levels of divers.
3. Boatyard - Another fantastic muck diving site! You can spot frogfish, seahorses, velvet ghost pipefish, cuttlefish, nudibranch, and many other macro critters.
4. Coral Cove - This dive site is home to some fascinating species. Pygmy Seahorses and Ornate Ghost Pipefish are often spotted at the site. And if scuba divers have some luck, thresher sharks might even pass by!
5. The Canyons - The adrenaline junkie's site of choice during times of strong currents, boasting a thrilling ride with rests in the bowls as you watch in amazement while schools of trevally, tuna, and sometimes barracuda hang effortlessly in the current.
6. The Alma Jane wreck - The dive site is a favourite among wreck enthusiasts, is easily accessible, and is home to several giant frogfish, big schools of batfish, and small tropicals.
7. Shark Cave - The main residents in the cave are the white tip sharks and blue spotted stingrays. Moreover, you can spot pufferfish, tiny reef fish, nudibranch and sweetlips around the corals and sponges.

Nice video bro!! I will dive with greggs
Good choice! I've dived with Greggs and Atlantis, both excellent. Atlantis is more high-end. Greggs is the perfect location.
I used to work as an instructor in Sabang in 1993 or 94. Beautiful diving
Thank you for watching.
ORIENTAL MINDORO, PHILIPPINES. PROUD TO BE MINDOREÑO🙏
Excellent video, we are returning to Puerto Galera next month, and your video reminds us why !! Great music . Do you mind sharing what camera and lighting you used ? Thanks much
Thank you for your comment and question. It's an old video, so I would be better off telling you what I shoot on now. GoPro 11 on a tray with two lights. Selfish sticks are OK, but you get a lot of wobble with your finished product. Hope this helps.
Great, thanks , I have a GP 9 but I’m not familiar with what a “tray “ is. Can you please fill me in. Thanks again.
A camera tray is a mount system used to hold your camera. You can have two handed and one handed and you usually should be able to attach lights. Two-handed gives more stability to your shots.
Thanks very much, I’ve been using my GP 9 for flyfishing vids. Next month will be my first under water attempt. I was thinking about not even messing with it. But after watching your vid I think I’ll give it a shot. One week in Puerto Galera and a week in Dumaguete
I can't wait to dive here in 10 days. We will be diving with Scandi divers.
Sounds fantastic 👍
I’m from the Philippines I’m happy you went to see my country, I can’t wait to see you wash your cats until they’re dripping with soap lol until the soap suds runs down your forearms lol you should make it very long while they’re being soap up
