Thank you all for your thoughts! We are so grateful to all of you who have shared the video and sent rave reviews. We also welcome the thoughts of those of you who disagree with our views.
The questions are: SHOULD ANIMALS BE TREATED THAT WAY? WILL YOU STILL BUY THE PRODUCTS NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IS DONE TO THE ANIMALS?
Vegan or not is irrelevant in that respect. It's about Supply and Demand people! Although we do suggest a plant based diet.

Was vegetarian for 14 years and after learning of the horrible abuses to egg laying chickens and dairy cows went vegan. It was the greatest experience of a lifetime that I enjoy every day.

Vegan M Have been a vegetarian all my life. I live in India. Here they dont separate the calves from their mothers and allow the mothers to feed their calves. The amount of milk a cow or a buffalo gives in a day is way more than what is necessary for the calf. My father owns a farm and from what I learn they keep the calf with the mother until the end of lactation period after which the mother automatically disowns the calf. The male calves are then sent over to farms to plough the fields and the female are sent to dairy. Brutal treatment of cows is banned in India for religious purposes so it is kind of rare to see people even beat cows let alone kicking them or killing them. It is still like using an animal for our selfish needs but compassion, care and abstaining from cruel practices however profitable they are can be the middle ground. I simply feel it is not a bad thought to have dairy. It is bad to resort to torture to sustain dairy.

I watch videos on Animal Aid Unlimited in India and they've rescued a calf a farmer tossed out on the street to die right after the mother's birthed them. It was a heartbreaking video. The little guy pulled through!

Thats how I imagined it was in the western dairy industry. It isn´t though. If I lived in India I would be vegetarian maybe, but in Europe I need to be vegan.

I am a transplanted Californian in Texas and seeing the amount of cattle really breaks your heart. Dairy or beef you know how awful it is. But no matter where you live, when you find out about the fate of dairy calves it is beyond heartbreaking. I've seen images online of weakened and barely standing male dairy calves with captive bolts to their foreheads who have been sold for cheap beef. It's truly an image you cannot unsee. I really hope more people adapt plant-based diets or do whatever they can to change this.

You and I both and I actually worked on many of California's biggest Dairy Farms because I love cows and to this day my love for these beautiful, loving, nurturing intelligent animals is never ending. What I didn't realize is what I was participating in was "Cruel". I just never connected the dots but now I know better thanks to really sitting down and educating myself. I want all Factory Farms shut down as their is no reason to eat Dairy, Meat, and Eggs.

@@dominickbailey2477 What do you do with the babies? What do you do with cows that can no longer give milk? You say you treat cattle with love and respect, but how can you do that when in the end, they are murdered? And how can you do that, when you take their babies and steal their milk? Money, that's the only reason you say you treat them well, they are a commodity to you, nothing more.

The Gentle Barn does more than rehabilitate animals who need help...it helps children who are in emotional need to relate to themselves...in the animals they find their own hard luck stories and I believe this is an amazing effort for both the animals and children...compassion and empathy...two things we need more of...The Gentle Barn is remarkable...watch this and see for yourself!

I'm banned from the slaughterhouse due to me "stealing livestock " I just took a piglet and shoved it down my shirt and kinda ran. Then to make matters worst I had a friend of mine come with a van and steal the rest and the mother. I had to pay a fee and since I'm a minor no serious charges were filed . They do have a restraining order

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing the calves. Dairy industry should be phased out. It isn't needed, so many good alternative milks. I am vegan and I applaud Gentle Barn and all the animal rights groups but, I'm sorry, I have a real problem with the under cover guy shooting and hammering the calves. If this operation ever gets raided and criminal charges are brought against them, the undercover guy will probably be charged too. Here's an example of my point: An under cover guy goes to save girls in captivity who are being raped and killed and while he's undercover, secretly planning their escape, he engages in the rape and murder of one or more of the victims, before he completes his mission of freeing the rest of the girls. I know that animals' lives are not protected by law the same as human lives. This is just an example.

      +Susan Ewing
Also, I read an article about an undercover animal rights activist who filmed atrocities while undercover, (not actually engaging in them), and didn't report the abuse right away because she was still gathering her evidence. She had charges brought against her for not reporting it sooner and she went to jail! Seems to me that if someone can go to jail for simply not reporting cruelty quickly enough, then the undercover investigator who 'actually participated in the cruelty', should most definitely serve time too. And I believe he 'deserves' to be punished for what he did. I'm sorry but there's no excuse for his participation in the cruelty. I'm very disturbed by that. He should have refused, even if he risked being fired. I'm sure he already had enough evidence against them.

While living in Indonesia, were i never had butter, cheese, or milk (& never missed it?) i was already a Vegan ...When i came back to France i was almost "forced" to take part in this food- industry...Being a Vegetarian was already making me an 'outcast" overhere? I am going Vegan now, a 100%, with all my heart...because being a Vegetarian was just not enough? I didn't know about this???? This is soo BRUTAL!!Every-one should know!!!!There is soyamilk, oatmilk, coconutmilk... & sooo many other sources of milk- that is NON DAIRY & by the way more HEALTHY & deeelicious? We can all become VEGAN soo easily...This has to STOP!!! I am hearbroken since weeks about this & feel sick about it...I share your videos on my Fbk!Thank you soo much for telling us all!!!These cruel practices can never be good for the soul of humans??? I can't stop crying. How can anybody do this to a baby animal? They have no soul. Greed is an ugly attribute to have and turns some human beings into monsters not worthy to share this planet with the rest of us. Bless the undercover guy who has to see this every day to help make changes in the long run. Bless the Gentle Barn, bless all the people involved in the making of this video. Because of the Gentle Barn and other facts I became a vegetarian four months ago and have never looked back.

Does being vegetarian mean you still consume dairy? This video is about the cruelty that takes place in the dairy industry. The dairy industry is the veal industry. Please do your research if you still consume dairy...thanks!

Andrea Robbins Pardon my ignorance & lack of knowledge but does your research show that even organic dairy industry that promotes pasture cows also runs the veal industry & treats calf with cruelty? Thank you for your work.

Some people dont see the bigger picture. Of how cruel, heartless and vile humanity has become. . Personally I don't drink milk or will ever eat veal. Makes me sick to my stomach. Laws need to change but we as a society cant even protect our children. Thank you to those who actually get out there, rescue and are making a difference.

I knew this was going to be hard to watch, but I forced myself to watch the entire thing. My chest is heaving from sobbing and I can barely see through the tears to type this. The feeling in my gut right now is indescribable...I could literally throw up seeing how these animals are treated. The kicking, the hammers, the neglect, the beatings and the blood...the complete lack of emotion letting these beings suffer is unimaginable. I am proud to say I'm visiting the Gentle Barn in October...

Not a vegan yet, vegetarian for nearly 50 years after a beef steer, who my parents made me feed made his way into our freezer, and then my beloved 4-H dairy cow gave birth to a male (destined for veal), it amazes me that I am the only one in the family "defective" enough to have been scarred for life by those experiences. Sadly, thanks for validation.

BRAVO.This is a great "starter" video for those who are just beginning to learn about the horrors of factory farming. If every person who watches this can get just one other person to watch who has no awareness of factory farming perhaps we can see change happening at a faster rate. One comment made in the video is so true...people just don't want to know, don't want to hear about the atrocities because "once you know what is going on there is now an obligation to become part of the solution."

I'm a vegan and I have talked to so many people who really had no idea that this kind of cruelty was going on. I've found that most people, once they wake up to the truth and break out of their denial, don't want to participate in it anymore. I admire you guys and all animal rights activists a lot for doing things like this.

Because you guys did this for all of animals, I wish I was a lot closer to you guys to be able to come by few times a week to take care of those animals with you guys. Thank you for rescues all of animals who needed a chance at living a happy life. I don't understand why people are so cruel and thinks it's okay to hurt animals for their own anger, and thinks they deserves it, what do those animal thinks while you hurt them? What have them done to you? That's what bothers me.. Thank you...

I briefly worked on a dairy farm in the "calf barn" doing the feedings. It was an organic dairy and by all standards, as humane as a dairy farm gets, and still it was obscene. Nobody was beating the animals, they were cleaned up after and fed, but the despair and loneliness of those poor little things locked up in a hot dark barn in a tiny chute 24/7 was more than I could take and I only did it for 2 weeks. That was many yrs before I became vegan and still it opened my eyes.

Forget the profit margins needed by farmers and owners. Forget the need to feed their families. I get that. I get that we need to take care of our own. What i dont get is the abuse that one human being can inflict on an innocent. I can't understand the abuse that we can inflict and just be ok with it. The cruelty is just too much to bare. Thank you GB for helping the few that are fortunate enough to be recused by you.
