    me reading the comments of people arguing if a pro is better than a quest 3 or if index is better than both of them, while im chilling watching this video on a quest 2 lmao

    Be careful not to sweat in your Quest Pro. Just a small bit of moisture can destroy the circuitry that powers the IR LEDs for the face tracking, causing them to go dim or out completely. This will brick the face tracking which also takes out the eye tracking too even if the eye tracking LEDs are working fine.

      Index is inferior to the Quest 3 as well, and that’s way cheaper than the pro. Any headset with fresnel lenses is going to be inferior to a headset with pancake lenses. The lenses mark a new generation of VR devices.

    i swear it’s some sort of lottery for which streaming software works good 😭😭😭 my quest 2 works fine with airlink but my quest pro only works well with VD (even at the exact same streaming resolution), and steam link is unusable on both even with hours of setup and testing.

    While I will still be in favor of a tethered headset for a lot of reasons the Quest Pro does have a lot of things going for it. Even if I don't use my Pro too much, I will still cherish it for many of its benefits that I will be glad to use whenever I want to use it

    • @Jacobfov
      @Jacobfov  2 месяца назад +1

      I'd still prefer a tethered headset, I just wish there were more options. The Bigscreen Beyond looks cool, but it makes a lot of compromises to be as small as it is. The other main option is to gamble with a Pimax headset and pray they eventually work out all the kinks lol. Maybe the Somnium VR1 will end up being decent, but I haven't got my hopes up for that one.

    • @LunarDude28
      @LunarDude28 2 месяца назад

      @@Jacobfov I can agree with that, I wish we had more options or at least have another simple native Steam VR headset like the OG Vive and the Vive Pro again. It’s very hard to replicate what the Index is superior at without having to go though a lot of hoops like consoles and streaming software. The Pimax while delivering what it wants to do is not worth the hassles and processes that eventually some people are gonna have to deal with. The two closest headsets that can be a viable option to switch/upgrade is the Vive Pro 2, the DPVR E4, and of course Bigscreen. I believe that Valve can make a better headset in todays world and since they operate on Valve time I’m more then happy to be hopeful

      @@Jacobfov so a headset without controllers. Big indeed. If eyetracking is a must feature for you you ONLY play vr chat indeed.

    • @deckerexpert
      @deckerexpert 2 месяца назад

      @dustercrew well yeah, the bigscreen beyond doesn't come with controllers, but it does work with the Valve Index's controllers; which are the Valve Knuckles; and since Jacob here already has a Valve Index, and hence the Valve knuckles, controllers aren't an issue. taking to account their opinions on why only recently they starteh using the Quest Pro, the Quest 3 is still inferior to the Index.

    • @Jacobfov
      @Jacobfov  2 месяца назад

      @@dustercrew Eye tracking can help mitigate some of the issues with compression via foveated encoding. It can also be used to increase performance in games with dynamic foveated rendering. Games like Pavlov and DCS have used Quad-View foveated rendering to see massive performance gains, and this feature was just added to OpenXR1.1 meaning it will soon be useable in more games.
      Also, a PCVR headset being sold without controllers is normal. It just doesn't make sense for a company like Bigscreen to put R&D money into controllers and drive up the cost of their headset when there are plenty of options already.

    • @matKilla9801

      @@Jacobfovimagine spending twice the price just for eye tracking lol
      It’s a good feature to have, but hardly a must have requirement. Literally the only people that would pay that premium for it are the terminally online VRchatters, regardless of the performance benefits it could provide.
