I'm still waiting for an actual face cushion to take some of the pressure off the forehead and distribute it on the face... it's so weird that nobody worked on something like that yet 😶
If you get the velcro creative studioform strap the foam pad doesn't put any pressure on your forehead at all any more. It's easily the most comfortable headset I've used now, and doesn't leave a mark on my face or head at all any more.
Goes to show how individual VR headsets can be. I wear my Quest Pro for hours with no comfort issues whatsoever. Most comfortable headset I have used and I have used just about all of them.
Yep, exactly. Definitely no one size fits all VR headset. For me with the Pro before the mods, it drove my forehead crazy after about 30 minutes. I would push through usually, but it wasn't enjoyable lol
Exactly the kind of video I’ve been looking for thank you for making this video. This is going to help me a lot on the Comfort problem, and the battery problem.
Thank you for this! I definitely will need that light blocker. I'm very ocd and ADHD so seeing vr and irl would drive me crazy since i notice every little thing
Someone should make a tinted light blocker replacement either from glass or a plastic/polymer so you can always enjoy the semi-AR experience even in environments with a lot of light. This would be for the sides only, not the full immersed experience. Its usually only a problem in industrial places like the gym.
Best QPro mod for me has been the VR Panda QP comfort mod. It includes a front to back top strap, which works better for me than the cross straps. It also includes a larger, cushier memory foam front pad. The front pad is Velcro mounted and I've found that when I adjust it so it just sits over my stock side blockers it helps to block out any light from above. Maybe you need to google to find this because my previous post with links seems to have been removed, lol!
@@RenderedReality The MojoXR grips are not listed on their website and are unavailable on amazon, any other grips w/ strap recommendations that don't cover the charging bit or cover the cameras?
Great video! I agree about how you don't really notice the peripheral gaps once you're in the headset. In fact, I tried multiple different light blockers and hated how they cut off the air circulation. I prefer it light and breezy :)
I've heard the old amvr/vr cover grips for the quest 2 work for the quest pro controllers. They also don't block the charging port or cameras at any point. I was also very surprised that sanlaki figured out a quest pro adapter for their overhand gunstock.
great headset, i love the fact even with the weird docking charger they still kept the usb port. the only thing i am a bit worried about is controller battery life. i play for very long sessions and i stream, since the controllers doesent have replacable batteries or a usb c port for charging as i have seen, i am a bit worried that my controllers will just give out and force me to quit the game.
Shawn, would it be possible to somehow sync up your Govee lights with the game you are playing to add some color-accurate ambiance to your prereferral vision? Maybe casting your game to the TV in your room?
I could do that but only the one tv on the desk would work, since it's the only one with camera and color sync. I wish all the Govee lights would do it and link up, that would be awesome!!
On another note, a lot of Kickstarter backers of YawVr have not received their devices is there any reason you have not done a follow up video on the ongoing situation of the YawVr backers? They’re not even replying back to their backers, as a content creator do you feel you have a responsibility to report on this?
It does seem to be a problem. We have another kicksterter unit that we are still waiting on. We have talked about the situation on our Coffee & VR live show.
Thanks for this one. Still waiting for my open box Quest pro, It's been stuck past customs now for 5 days. I ordered 2 different top straps, the same 3d printed light blockers as yours and it's suppose to come with grips and a case already. I'll let you know if any of the accessories you don't have are any good. Is one of you guys getting the XR elite? Tyler seemed to like it a lot. Did he cancel his Crystal Preorder?
Oh awesome, Tyler does have the XR Elite on pre order, and I don't think he cancelled his Crystal yet. Not sure what he will end up doing about that lol
@@justinchew2445 1059 US. Comes with a case and controller grips. It sucks cause I ordered a week b4 the sale. There's one on Amazon that says "cleaning cloth and 2 stylus may be missing" for $989 right now. I settle on the pro cause I can pretty much play every sim at 90hz with max settings and after reading on several newsgroups and watching several reviews Everybody seems to think that the picture quality and controllers are a big upgrade over several headsets. I also get to keep my Q2 library. Once we get 5090's to push higher resolutions and micro oled HMD's I will probably upgrade again (late 2024).
Just to let you know that I just got a 350USD refund on the headset as it was missing the stylus tips and the condition was not like the add stated (it was slightly used) so I got it for 709USD. In one of the msg the guy from ebay sent me he stated that he had about 15 Quest pros. So I'm thinking that if you wait a bit that they should come down in price.
Haha, I am lucky enough to have a decent job, and try to live smart. Don't go in to debt and save for things. I go a little overboard though, and spend to much on this VR hobby, but I love it!!!
Hey Shawn, I've noticed you also have a Pico 4, may I get your opinion?. I've had a quest 2 for about 2 yrs now. I've upgraded the head strap to the Vive deluxe with a battery at the rear for longer periods. To say the least that thing feels like a tank atop my head, and my biggest gripe was it always felt like I was looking through very narrow binoculars. Recently I picked up a Pico 4 after watching several reviews raving about the clarity, the fov and just the overall improvement of the lens. I dont play alot of games, I usually hang out with friends in VrChat, sometimes watching movies in dark rooms. Some have mentioned the Pico 4 having washed out colors and its present in mines as well, but what makes mines unbearable is this glare that creates this blur. Pair that with the washed out colors and its unbearable. Its almost like having a haze over the lens, have you had that experience? Unfortunately I'm in the states and bought mines off a private seller and I am unable to warranty it. Now to my question, would I benefit from picking up the Quest Pro? I dont really care for the mixed reality stuff, just a clean, crisp image without any blurs or glares in darker areas? You've earned yourself a new subscriber, TIA!
Hey, thanks for the sub!! The colors are somewhat washed out in the Pico 3, I still think it looks pretty decent though. The Quest Pro is by far the clearest most crisp image I have seen. It mainly comes down to the superior lenses the Quest Pro has, and also really good screens. Hooked up to PCVR this headset really shines. Also has really good controllers. With the recent price drop of the Pro, it's definitely not a headset to over look.
I have both as well and the Pico 4 is for sure not as good, but the HMD cost way less, so yeah. I also have a Quest Pro and the lenses like RR said are great, you do lose a bit of resolution in the screens its not dramatic but there is some loss. I do find the bloom and some glare issue on the Pico 4. Tracking is freaking way better than I thought on the Pico 4. Tracking on the QP is good on the HMD, its ok on the QP but find the controllers do have some quarks in my lighting situation. I find I have more issues with the controllers in my environment with the QP where I don't with the Pico 4.
I’ve been using the Quest Pro from day one for at least 10 hours a week. Personally not a single one of these mods are needed! That being said VR headsets really fit different people differi. Personally I wear my Quest Pro for hours at a time with ZERO comfort issues. Just depends on the person!
Every headset I've ever owned requires accessories to make it right. It really should have come with a top strap, but everything else is highly personal and subjective, some people will want some accessories, others different ones, or none at all. I've never had a headset I didn't need to buy any aftermarket accessories for though.
@@kevinbrook7033 It’s kinda like a car 🚗. Some things just need to be personalized. I did buy the $50 light blocker for the Quest Pro and it’s actually really good..but I’ve gotten so use to no light blockers at all I actually prefer to play with it open on the sides as mentioned in the video. Once use to it anything else just feels so closed in.
@@damiengvideos4337 yes definitely, I hate having an interface now. I just use an IR illuminator and play in the dark, the removal of the interface feels like a massive upgrade, never want to go back to having a little enclosed ski mask feel and dealing lens fog again.
