- This is a simple 4 channel programming guide for the futaba 14SG. It will also work for the futaba 8FG. We programmed a Futaba R6106 Rx on our scratch build Edge 540 along with showing you how to put a dual rate switch in your radio along with how to use expo. If you have any questions please put them in the comments blow. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to our channel.

Thanks for the tips. I had been searching for the expo and had no idea it was in the dual rates.
I tend to agree that positive expo made the sticks more sensitive. Should have added negative expo to make the center stick area less responsive. Oath wise well done and just what I've been looking for. Positive expo is used on Spectrum transmitters. Confusing isn't it.
Thanks for the walk-through and succinct explanation.
I'd like to see you do more of these ... in fact how about a 'how-to' series on the 14SG!!
Well done Kevin!
+BarkingSpyda I've also done a simple 4 channel fixed wing program. Is there anything else you can come up with please let me know and we will try to get that going. Glad to help.
i realize it is kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Leandro Tristian i dunno I use flixportal. just google after it:) -cruz
@Cruz Westin thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it!!
@Leandro Tristian You are welcome :D
Thanks for the video, it was really informative! By the way, to set triple rates it's actually pretty easy. Just select the same switch on number "3" at the bottom on the dual rate menu and that will work! I think I'll be building this plane!
Good tutorial, all except when you set your expo. Think for Futaba to soften the feel around mid stick you have to go the other way around, for example 65% expo should’ve been at -65%.
i would have liked to see a set up at the beginner mode on your 3 d switch. very helpful video none the less
Fantastic. Thank you for your help.
I found that positive made more sensitive negative was less sensitivity.I think that maybe incorrect what you show on video.
URGENT READ THIS FIRST - 5 years later this video has NOT been corrected - although it is super helpful in setup of the 14sg, the EXPO setting is STILL WRONG-- it MUST be set using NEGATIVE (-) numbers to make the stick softer around the centre- that is how Futaba works, not just the 'old' Futaba as the author claims. To check this, simply look at the curve in the radio in front of your EYES. If you know how graphs work, that will confirm it.... The info re expo in this video can cause beginners to CRASH!!! PLEASE CORRECT IT. TWO things to remember when using Futaba - THROTTLE is ALWAYS reversed, EXPO is ALWAYS negative unless you want to make the sticks MUCH more sensitive around centre - otherwise, thanks for all your advice, the rest of it is perfect :)
Yes, yes, I just saw this myself and corrected it above before I saw your post. PAY ATTENTION to Guy's correction!
Shouldn't you use negative expo to soften around the joystick centers on a Futaba? I'll bet the maiden flight was exciting with that setup! Also, did you figure out how to get the 3 position switch to give 3 flight settings? Thanks.
+wtgphoto On some of the old Futabas you used negative expo. I also have Spektrums, and was surprised to see that I had to change the curve to get a nice expo effect. This worked for my setup, but yours may be different.
@@aglaerialvideosolutions4791 If you look at the on-screen expo curve you'll see that you really DO have the expo backwards. Look how lowering the "rate" brings the right endpoint down and left endpoint up. This tells you what axis is stick input and what axis is output to the servo in this graph. The horizontal axis is input and vertical is output. You can then see when setting the expo to a positive value it INCREASES the output throw for a given stick movement at center stick. You can see it makes the curve at the center more vertical INCREASING stick sensitivity. And, just LOOK at the behavior of the aileron when you test it. It moves a whole lot at the beginning and very little at the end. BACKWARDS!
Thanks for the help with setting dual rates, the manual is rubbish.
14SG is a great Tx but settings are over complicated, you have to go a long way around to do a simple setting. Thanks again.
as I stated below 6 months ago then forgot -- futaba expo works opposite to others so DUDE the EXPO you set up is wrong. It should be set to negative values not sure how you didn't see this it's a visual graph... besides that -- thanks again ...
I believe you're using the expo wrong to soften the sticks in the middle on a futaba its negative expo not positive
excellent! thanks!
Thanks for the tips.
It was helpful.
how do you setup duel ailirons
The EXPO works opposite than shown in the video!.. I don't understand how an "expert" flyer does this mistake in a video!
Agree! He's in for a surprise....
I have a T14SG and also have 3 planes, but every rx are linked on each model, so no matter what model I have selected, if I turn on two planes or three avery single plane have signal at the same time. what can I do to avoid that ? please help!
Hi
Can you please share setup for Flysky transmitter ?
Expo round the wrong way as well as wrong switch positioning.
Sorry but your expo is not correct. what you've done is made the aircraft a lot more sensitive with the stick throws... check again
