    Just like a BOSS!!!... the one on my RCZ is leaking oil... this video helps me loads. Super gluing the small bolt to the torx was genius. On my GT the torx was a T30.

      I was charged £120 for the parts and £80 for labour. I was ripped off. I wish I saw this video before!

      The one on my 208 is also leaking oil. I spend lot of time to discover the spot of leak 😅.

    I only need to remove the top turbo intake pipe to remove the solenoid.
    I used a piping clip to clamp on a steel wire shaped into "U" as a handle on top of the solenoid for the ease of pulling it out with the screw still attached to the solenoid.
    To install, it is best to put the screw through the bracket of the solenoid first, and put them in at the same time.
    You need to align the screw in a straight line with your eye level - eye, solenoid and screw in a straight line.

    DS4 user here. It will be an absolute nightmare to reach this place... What faults did you get on the reader to change it? I get P 0087 and P1030.
    Great video, thanks!

      Yes it's not a very fun replacement. It's been a couple of years since I did this job, I believe there were codes related to vanos timing? It may be the cause of your issues, but also the VVT cam sprocket is known to wear. If you aren't able to do more advanced diagnostics then this is certainly the cheaper part to try replacing first.

    What would be a sign of a bad VVT. I have replaced coils, plugs, crankshaft sensor. However, my 1.6 thp ds5 still goes into limp mode often. Not sure if i should fix this or the HPFP. P0087 fault code keeps coming back.

    • @HeroRepairs
      @HeroRepairs  Год назад

      What happened to your P1336 and P1340 codes? Did you resolve them? P0087 would point towards the HPFP but it's not certain, it could be other things like fuel filter, low pressure pump etc. Are you able to read out live fuel pressure data? A PEA based injector cleaner might be a good idea too.

    • @sup1ch
      @sup1ch Год назад

      @@HeroRepairsthe fuel filter is built-in in some/or maybe all DS4s (just an additional comment towards the P0087 error code 😢)
      Also, it seems very difficult to find a new low pressure pump in stores. Is this really the case and why do you think that is?

      @HeroRepairs great video. I just got a CEL today after starting the car and it having really rough idle. Codes P1336, P1337 and P1340 came up. I cleared the codes and the car drove fine afterwards. Any idea what could be the problem? I changed valve stem seals and full timing kit (OEM) a few weeks back and I've driven around 1000 km's since. This same issue came up a few months back when I first got thr car so I'm wondering if the solenoid needs to be cleaned or changed?

    what are the symptoms with this failed part? also do you have any experience with excessive oil burn and consumption?

    • @HeroRepairs
      @HeroRepairs  Год назад

      A rough idle is probably the most common, followed by lowered engine power, and rough acceleration. Sometimes the CEL will come on, other times there might be fault codes for it that don't trigger the CEL.
      How much oil is yours using? These engines are known to use quite a bit in between oil changes, 1 litre per 5000km is common and ok. If it starts to use closer to 1 litre per 1000km then you may need to check engine compression. Valve seals and piston rings are common causes. Also make sure you are using a high quality full synthetic 5w30 oil, other types can make the issue worse.

      @@HeroRepairs with long trips it doesn’t use much at all. With short trips it does. when I make some rpms after idling a bit It starts to smoke. Also I see smoke under the hood and bad smell enters the interior. I know the engine has this issue but I also suspect the turbo

      Some variants have 1, some have 2. They all have the one at the back like in the video, so you can easily check the front of the engine to see if yours has a second solenoid.
