    We've been doing the $20.00 engine for life oil changes with our 2017 Equinox. After some bad GM shop experiences, I have decided to change the oil myself from now on. That being said, that oil filter placement is criminal! Oh, and I had to watch a RUclips video to learn how to change the headlights in the 2017 Equinox... the headlights! Ha!

      Yeah I did a headlight and taking out the mudguard to replace a headlight behind the tire is criminal!

    Thanks man I really appreciate it. It helped me a lot. I was able to change my oil the first time with your help. I went to the auto parts store and they gave me the wrong parts. I showed them your video and then I finally got the right parts. Thanks again

    Good vid and thanks for posting. 😊 -- Please do not guess on your oil amount. The engine is designed down to the tenths on how many quarts for a reason. Too much/too little can be bad for the engine over time. Newer engines have less tolerances to -ish amounts. It is your engine and we are all responsible for how we treat our stuff. Thanks again for the vid. ❤

    If you have a regular 32 mm socket it will work. You don’t need to go buy an oil filter socket if you have a regular one already. They try to tell you that you absolutely need an oil filter socket. When I used to change my oil on my Pontiac I just used a regular socket all the time.

    Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of leaving space for the ring on the oil filter?

    I have a 2016 Equinox LTZ is there much difference in the process of changing oil from the 2017 model??

    • @mr.joshua204
      @mr.joshua204 4 года назад

      No, it's the same vehicle just different years built. Usually they will keep the model the same for 5 years, then change it up

      Do you know what the torque specs are for tightening the filter and the drain plug or do you just wing it?

    • @dgame2000
      @dgame2000 4 года назад

      @@curemeister7443 I winged it, the filter will kind of lock when it's tight

    The vehicle recommends full synthetic oil. It shouldn’t just be what “you recommend”. You should always use what the manufacturer recommends.

    • @user-iz9kh4tr9k

      Actually, per Google and GM they recommend a shitty 5W 30 synthetic blend,,, Personally, I would use full synthetic, leaving 1 quart less and adding Lucas full synthetic oil stabilizer ,, there's no way I'm using a synthetic blend, so no you should not always use what the manufacturer recommends you should use the best in my opinion that would be mobile one full synthetic 5W 30 & 1 quart full synthetic oil stabilizer again just my opinion😊
