Don't remember hearing "Je crois" in controlled full voice, the result is breathtaking & maybe not given to all who can sing this aria. Loved Knudsen's voice & singing too.
Brownlee is amazing and what a treat to hear Palle Knudsen! I saw him as "Don Giovanni" in 2001. He was fighting a heavy cold but he was still a very charismatic Don!
Few duos come close to Björling and Merrill, but these two "make it". Too many tenor / baritone attempts think each is the "star" of the show, when it's the subtle nuance between them that matters.
As much as I love Mr. Brownlee's voice, I just don't feel it fits this duet. The vibrato sounds so fast and "nervous". I was delighted to find this initially, but just a bit disappointed with the resut. Personal taste.
Thomas Lucia You need to get your hearing aids adjusted. This is breathtaking in everything: the beauty of the music, the perfect pairing of two gorgeous voices and the stellar musicianship of these two men.
No - I can identify each voice and they are of course different - Every singer has his unique voice and needs this for indentification and his success as singer. :)
I've been a passionate lover of Pavarotti since the 70s, but you should listen to Pavarotti singing this same peace. He sounds as though he reaches the high notes with great effort. Brownlee floats up there like its in the middle of his range. You might also listen to the utube video of several tenors hitting the high F in I Puritani. Brownlee's is by far the best. Pavarotti's is falsetto and very thin.
2020 anyone? one of my favorite opera masterpiece. LB's voice was phenomenal.
yes and I agree with you on everything.

@Santiago Jacoby instablaster :)
Brownlee is absolutely fantastic here but one has to give credit to Knudsen too. The two voices suit each other so well!
This is my favorite version. Lawrence Brownlee has the most perfect voice.
+grisial-mor
Search after Alain Vanzo et ....
C'est surtout Vanzo qui fait la différence.
+Wim O oui, vanzo surpasse tous les autres, mais brownlee est quand même impressionnant, surtout qu'il n'est pas francophone et respecte la langue.
Oh,my dear friend! There are others duets of this" aria" ,very beautiful! The best, for me,is with Bjorling and Merrill!Looking for it and listen!
grisial-mor he absolutely does!
But the recording of the Bjorling and Merrill version omits the agitato section in the middle. Boo!
Brownlee doesn't use falsetto to sing his high notes and it is really beautiful. He became my favorite opera singer nowadays!

Brownlee’s voice to me is so strong and clear ,beautiful !
la voix divinelle ...MON DIEU, MERCI D`EXISTER UNE VOIX COMME ÇA..LAWRENCE BROUWNLEE deja le majeur tenor du XXI siecle
Que magnífico barítono!!! Brownlee perfecto!!!
I hadn't heard the voice of Palle Knudsen before. He's great. I'll look for more. Brownlee is, and remains a favorite!
Luke I but all different repertoire.
Magnificent! I have not heard this duet from the Pearl Fishers since I was in my teens--in the 1950s. What a treat! Frances
Love the voice of Lawrence Brownlee!

Lawrence Brownlee is a fantastic tenor!
Their voices mix so well. Great casting
Two handsome voices and two handsome men. Delightful performance
Fabulous music. Beautifully sung. Great voices.
This was very well done. Very moving version.
Lawrence Brownlee is wonderful!
remarquable duo. bravo ,que de beauté.
this should be a very early recording. his french pronunciation has greatly improved.
I think the most delightful area ( when I sing I can’t resist 💕 love it’s just real sweet delight. She’s great here…
How beautiful.... I I love it........
The gold standard is Bjoerling and Merrill. But this is mighty impressive. Brownlee can certainly caress a note.
@@efrainsotomayor399 and Merrill is a magnificent, if dull interpreter.
C'est magnifiquement interprété, merci pour cette découverte! Je m'abonne!
Une grande émotion se dégage des œuvres de bizet ,de Carmen
Pure gold.
What about Pale Knudsen? Either voice could turn a girl’s knees to rubber. Together? I’m doomed.
Love it
EXQUISITO DUO

Brownlee sounds like Pavarotti

Well his voice reminds me of Pavarotti
