**to anyone worried about lathe safety** This is an edited video, i had missed a lot of footage out so had to re film some parts that’s why my overalls were round my waist, at no point during using the lathe did I have my overalls round my waist, you’ll see the video Is sped up and cut in places, I stand well back when I engage the lathe and I stand right at the end of the bed. I admit I should of had the poppers done up on my sleeve, and I know how dangerous the lathe can be! I’ve been through 3 years of training at college and I’m qualified now, and I never take risks. We all make mistakes when we’re younger but you learn from them, and I assure you i got told off when my dad (and employer) realised😂In our recent videos I take safety very seriously!
Beth 179 I read an article where A female engineer at MIT got her hair caught in a lathe and it killed her, about two years ago. Gruesome! Freaking dangerous machines. Some say never wear jewelry or any long sleeves.
We all learn from mistakes. I for one quickly found out that brushing hands against live inverter boards (1kV ish) doesn't feel too great. Just one of those things. You live and you learn.
We all here appreciate that you put the video out and most would hate to see you hurt. Take it as constructive criticism and know that we are looking at more than just a pretty girl on on here. There is plenty of those on here. You stand out because of your skills and we just dont want to see you get hurt is all. It's a skills thing not a gender thing.
Your killing it. People are all over you about danger I have been welding fabricating and machining for 20 + years started at 14 freshman. You are doing everything right and safe. Accidents happen I de gloved 1/3 of my pinky finger at a age 19 in a 5ft power roller, and I got smashed in the nose with a 4.5" makita grinder while spinning full speed about a year ago. That's it in 20 yrs. Keep doing what you are doing wear the proper ppe
@@tomharrell1954 when I was an apprentice operator mechanic I saw a mechanic (1970 long hair was in) get scalped by a ujoint on a Euclid scraper that was direct drive from the engine. He lived but it wasn't pretty. After that if you had long hair you had to wear a hair net.
Amazing to see a young lady doing this from start to finish. Well done Beth, you should be proud of the professional way you do your job. Your employer must be proud of you too!
Thankyou! My employer is my dad, he and my grandad taught me everything i know! -Beth
I would agree with ever possible positive comments on here but I would also add you need to be safe around the lathe. While I understand that you are a 3rd generation in your family to do this type of work. You can not get to comfortable with any machine it has no feelings. @ approximate 4:20 you tied your sleeves around your waist, arms dangling. That can catch and lead to a awful injury. Be safe.
Yes I agree she is very good
@@usherengineering179 Bless you. Good heart family business. We need more people like you guys.
This young lady is the real thing. She isn't phony or there for the photos. She knows what she is doing and looks like she is doing an amazing job as well. There is no reason women can't do such things. But we rarely see them oo these type projects. Thumbs Up!
Listen to all you little whiny safety fools. She is obviously a skilled machine operator and fabricator. We all know how dangerous a lathe can be if we are watching this. And we have all worn a untucked button down flannel wial running the lathe at some point. Awesome to see a young lady getting involved in machine tool and fab. Keep up the good work, I am a Union shipyard machinist by trade. I have been making threaded copper knickel fittings and flanges this past week on one of our manual lathes. We have a couple nice American pacemakers and leblonde. We also have a giant shafting lathe with a 75ft bed and taper attachment that you would enjoy.
Nice to see when i bring my beach buggy wheels in to get them banded they'll be in good hands, dirty but good :)
Dude where did you get those awesome wheels? My girlfriend made them 😁😁😁
vico see Life goals right there.
Such an absolute pleasure to watch her at work, a truly aspirational video for all the girls out there, I would surely be bursting with pride if she were my Daughter, love her to bits👍
Well done !
That video remind me that my mother proffesion from her scholl is lathe operator. Shes born 1967, back than it was nothing unusual, but now pretty impresive, love you girl ! ❤
Cheers from little car workshop in Poland 🙂🙂🙂
Skill that thing ran true from the tacks. Wicked job
Have been in your workshop many times but this is the first time I've seen the job start to finish, nice one Beth.
Nice to see someone doing what they want to do and doing it well. Best way to enjoy life when your job is what you love. Nice one Beth
Best banding video, I had to mute it though.
thanks, we are looking to improve our videos, thanks for watching.
@@usherengineering179 I second the muting necessity, which wasn't that bad though as no voices or voiceover was to be missed.
Great video, a very talented young lady.
Good job Beth.
Ian.
So nice to see overalls and safety boots being worn ,Banded steelies look great too...
Hey Beth! I’m 27, female, and just got a millwright apprenticeship in Canada! Thanks for all the content you post 👍 I’ve yet to find another female in my trade so I’m just smitten with you!
Hi Jessica! Great to hear from someone else in this trade, I love what I do! Thankyou and keep at it there isn’t many females in this industry. Girl power💪🏻 -Beth
Beth is the best !
Omg I think I’ve just fallen in love !!!
This woman is bloody fantastic 🏴👍🏼
Good work I love tinkering I wish I could do it for a living
Steve , Sensational skills and workmanship , from a talented young lady ... Good one Beth.
Thanks Greg
It's always good to watch someone skilled doing a great job well done Beth
great job.
Nigel
Thanks Nigel
Your better than 98% of the people I work with
Well done
Great skill set. Awesome machine work and welding.Well done.
I tried this back in high school and 🤬 she makes it look easy 👍👍👍👍👍 you go girl
Wow a beautiful young lady, into cars and car repair. Just don't see it much sadly. Fare play to her for doing it and I'm sure you encourage her! That's a great thing!
I had no idea what banding wheels was, just had to find out, thanks youtube and beth. I learnt something today
Fair play Beth on the lathe work ..... skills looks like you have been welding for 20 years 👍👍👍👍👍
Regardless of your age or gender, that was just an excellent job! That said, it’s good to know there are still young people coming out of school and into trade apprenticeships. I knew what the principles were behind banding wheels but have never seen it done before. Neat, the way you welded as it turned on the lathe. 👍🏻
Good to see 😍 a beautiful woman working in a workshop 💪
Very cool!! You go girl!!
I'm glad to see a shop doing wheel work! Litigation killed off Most of the shops here in the U.S., but then again, it's their fault: have to hire/ have cert'd peeps welding and not some bubba from down the street.....!!!.
Keep up the great work!!
So awesome in many levels! Especially impressed how focused and dedicated she was, all young people should work like that no matter which industry they chose.
Good to see that younger people are learning manual engineering skills, it is very much a dying art in the U.K. so a big thumbs up from me 👍
Never knew banding was a thing :D Lots of skills in there - very envious of that welding ability (and without looking on the unseen side too!) Good job :) Maybe I can convince once of my daughters to take up my love of engineering ;)
Same here. Even after watching the video I am unclear of the purpose, other than that this refurbished the wheels...
@@peterbense5650
It widens the wheels so you can keep the old school look but fit fatter grippier rubber.
a fine demonstration of some dying skills that have become rare in the modern world
keep up the good work!
The wheels look fantastic with a coat of paint anyone would think they left the Ford factory that way superb job 👍👍 I bow down to you for your engineering awesomeness 😍
Quality work, I wouldn't hesitate in using your services if I needed any of this type of work doing
Top work right there Beth ! just a suggestion but maybe you could ask your customer for a picture of the wheels finished and back on the car !
You could put it at the end of the video.
Watching you go through each process meticulously was great, it reminded me of some footage I've seen from WW2 when mostly women worked in the engineering industry making just about anything and everything you can think of.
Proper tough and highly skilled women & I'd say your certainly on that level so keep up the good work!
What a brilliant video Beth, so nice to see a young lady in a generally male dominated trade and doing a bloody cracking job !!
Love the ingenuity!!! u are very good at what u do!!! Nice work!!!🙃🙃👍👍🤓🌹🌹❤❤
Heartwarming to see this very skilled young woman at work.

usherengineering179 do me a set of 14 inch rostyles for my Austin 1100 project please and thanks!
proper stating the cost to have this done
Hello I would like to work for you Do you mind me that..?
My main field of automotive paint specialization
Very neat welds, you made it look easy.
Well done young lady I realised it was speeded up. You looked really good will be watching more. Stay safe Ed.
Hi Beth, very impressive. I did know about banding but had never seen the process. Really Interesting and labour intensive. The comments did remind me of my eldest when she was doing engineering at "A" level (l think ), did work experience at an engineering shop and learnt M.I.G. welding. She studied at Plymouth University and achieved a degree in Design and Technology. She has worked for an international company that designs and builds medical products for 20 years and her salary is now in excess of £120k . Not bad for a single mum at 17! The common denominator is you really enjoy what your doing ! Great stuff ! Oh! And l enjoyed the music !
That was sick looking wheels.well done on those works..Cheers!!
That's how its done 🤔 Always wondered how this was carried out. Professional skill level there 👌
Well my first thought was your safety glasses but then my second thought was bugger me gal that’s pretty dam good when you spun that wheel up so hats off to you and your teacher, just remember you only get two eyes and ten fingers sorry eight fingers and two thumbs xx keep up the good work and I know who to ask for to fix my car xx thanks mark
Fantastic work there Beth.
Alloy wheels just don't cut it on many pre 80s motors.
Even then, I've always dreamed of a Sapphire Cosworth but with base model bumpers, banded steels and stock Ford hubcaps, for that true sleeper surprise.
Respekt. .. sehr schönes Video, es ist sehr selten das eine junge Frau so viel technisches Verständnis aufweist LG
Great to see someone do a proper job and kept Safty in mind at all times
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🎣😁✌️
Didn't know what banding a wheel was now I understand.awesome work great job.it inspired me to subscribe, looking forward to many more videos
You got my respect , i like the way you do it....
Du är välldikt duktig bra video
That's a great job lady, ur a hard worker , working on lath , u made job,s quite concentric. Amessing.
Very interesting, thank you. Whilst I understood the concept of banded rims, I've never seen what actually goes into the job. And great to see a third generation in a family firm.
I didn't know what banding was seeing this as a suggestion from RUclips.im impressed.
Great job, and I'm loving the mk1 Ford escort in the background.
Lovely for a Granada but hub swap and put these on..
A 1600e,fat!
Maybe mk4 cortina or mk1 capri.
Badass.!!!!!!!!!
I never put comments on RUclips..fantastic job!
Nice one Beth, there must be some cool looking Granadas out there! I enjoyed watching your work, thanks for showing me how it's done.
Beth you teach us so much😊 of what we are really capable of.
Who cares about the music, awesome job on those wheels 👏🤟🏻👍
I always wanted a metal lathe when I was a kid. But now I'm a grown up I could buy one !!!! I never thought of that!!! :-D
I only liked 3 things here.
The start, middle and end.
That being said I have one tiny bit of advise and that is to have your boring bar/parting tool hanging out of the tool post to a minimum to prevent vibes and grabbing.
Cheers from a machinist too.
Thank u for responding beth!!🤓🥰
Staying at home away from a virus!!! Lol ...Great content from Beth!!! Thank u ... I'm a welder and run a mill !!! Your better than I am!!! Thanks again!!!!
Very well done, I enjoyed that. "I like what I see and I see what I like!"
Beth that was great skills well done
You are the best good job , please just wear your PPE properly please
Very skilled worker and that workshop looks amazing
Beth,
Tighter overall sleeves when you’re on the lathe girl.
That lathe will pick you up and pretzel you before you get out a squeal or hit the emergency stop. My shop teacher would have chewed my ass pulling a stunt like that. Use a few rubber bands if you have to. I’m serious. It only takes a millisecond to end your career or life with these tools.
I wish this girl in my work shop!:) Greetings from Belgrade
Now that was a very nice job, I love it when woman do jobs like this, it makes some men look like they don't know what they are doing, my hat is off for you girl go get them, and thanks again for sharing your experience and great video
steelies are awesome, when painted with "screaming" color (combinations).
DAMN. BEAUTIFUL. Wheelie great work also. Need to get my lathe turning. Great video kool music.
Great job, congratulations, regards from Argentina.
Could watch that all day! Beautiful job.
We call these spaced wheels, back years ago when aftermarket wheels were expensive, and few options, factory wheels were 'spaced' to10-12" usually a nicer wheel from higher optioned cars. Corvette and chevelle and such. I don't think anyone around here still does it! I like it myself. Spacing, and or reversing wheels can make a big difference in appearance!! But usually a aftermarket, replica with desired dimensions are available at about the same cost of the mod,
Nice job! Good video to watch. Big respect!
Very talented young lady. I hope she gets paid more than the government standard apprentice wage of £3.90ph
This lady is an investment and the future of manufacturing, machining & UK trades
Very impressive. 👍 🇬🇧
Great work, safety glasses needed though! You only ever get one set of eyes
He's right I lost most my vision in my right eye, down to a snap off tool snapping and it really hurt too, great work tho 👍
Hey Beth, who are you? You are skilled and beautiful, what more could you ask for?
✝️🇺🇸👍 thanks for the video
Truely amazing. Excellent
She, you do very nice work. Very nice indeed
Greetings from Russia! Good job! I have a jetta 2 , 1985 automatic transmission.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Quality job there, some of the best banded work I've seen. ❤
nice job !! , I made a set this summer from vw spare wheel , 10 inch large a the end , also needed to change the offset , I had a hard time to do them, it seem so easy for you !! nerver stop doing what you do ! ;)
Only thing i would do different is not to do a full weld but to go zig zag and skip areas not to get a pull on the material and warp the rim, otherwise good job.
Its nice to see a girl that can weld
Got to be worth $200.00 per wheel base?..look up VTl lathe always thought that Vertcal lathe would make it easy..ran some in the Navy..still pricey when old but run for ever 24 to 36 inch capacity would do it. best to ya!
Its such a turn on to see women doing stuff like this. Great job! Keep it up.
Totally amazing.I didn't even know anything about this until I watched a video earlier of your golf!!😉👍
That rotating machine never failed to satisfy me lol
I was ready to comment about your coveralls...and saw (your) comment... glad you explained the situation with such detail. People need to know that high powered machinery will be unforgiving if it grabs one's clothing , hair, limbs, etc. ...and by unforgiving I mean it can severely injure you or even kill. That was explained to me by someone I know who works in a National Laboratory, where a young female apprentice operating a lathe by herself (first rule broken) and her long untied hair (second rule broken) got caught and wound into the chuck....I don't want to describe how they found her the next day, but it was, according to my friend, a horrible site. I am very sensitized to even the slightest possibility of that happening and thus again the reason I wanted to speak to it.
BRAVO.Excellent Work!!!
We have a saying here in our 4x4ing community, built not bought!
good skills and tunes. loved it. good one!
I am nothing but impressed 🤔
Just found this video. Thanks. Gonna try it out myself.
Your dad is very lucky to have you as a daughter!!
