Yes the Q2 is still worth buying in 2024, I bought mine when it came out 3.5 years ago, just so I could play HL Alyx. Just wanted a cheap headset, was looking at samsung Odyssey plus, but opted for Quest 2, so happy I did. The Quest 2 is so different now than when it first came out, through updates, keeping the Q2 relevant today.
Great points, with all the updates it is a very different and a much better headset than what it was in 2020!
Considering that VR technology is still relatively new and some people still haven't played a VR headset yet, it is definitely worth it for people who are unsure that they want to get into virtual reality gaming. I personally only play beat saber and the les mils bodycombat game, and i imagine some people might get the system for that one game they're itching to play.
yep, that's exactly the point I'm making in this video as well. An absolute gem of a headset for casual and first time VR gamers for the money 💰
One of my roommates friend ended up selling me his quest 2 last night for $100. He got it from his sister. He told me her ex-boyfriend bought it for her but gave it to him. I was joking around about it but for $100 I couldn't pass it up

VR really is a good workout. I absolutely underestimated that at first. But there is a good chance you'll feel a bit exhausted after a while of playing any remotely intense game.
Great to see you back. I agree 1st time VR is quest 2 is amazing but if you touch pcvr 1 time it's very hard to go back. It's even hard to pull the trigger to save for a quest 3 because that takes a beefy gpu for pcvr
Many casual gamers still prefer the ease of jumping in as quickly and easily as possible into a game rather than have better graphics. But even so, Quest 2 still gives them the PCVR option :) it's a nice cheap Swiss knife of VR!

Definitely better than buying a Q3 right now. Why has nobody addressed the issue that thousands of Q3 owners are dealing with? Namely, the water/debris error message bug.
I have just bought my Quest 2 last year used even though I was aware of the Quest 3 coming out. Since i was not yet sure about VR, I just went with the cheaper option. And it did not disappoint. I may start saving for a Quest 3 perhaps in just a few months since I am loving VR more and more. Though the Quest 2 is still the best decision I ever made as it allowed me to experience VR right away at a fraction of the cost.

i bought a quest 3 recently and its amazing, i tried a quest 2 and that was amazing too but, if you have the money for a quest 3 and want longer software support, go for it, if you dont, a quest 2 will do just fine, i havent been able to fully get use out of my quest 3 since im in a cramped living space right now but once i have some room im very excited to try out my copy of Asgards Wrath 2
Honest Q, friend- do you think a Quest 2 is better suited for smaller areas?
I'm honestly looking at getting one more for using GamePass (I have a sub, but the TV is never available and i don't have my own room to put my big TV up) and like VRcgat and hopefully Skyrim or something
@@ROBBiESMiTTENS personally, both are great for small spaces, i re arranged my room to make space but usually aslong as you have space to sit/stand, with your arms wide spread and you can spin in a circle without hitting anything your space will be just fine, if you really want Mixed Reality and only standalone games get a quest 3 but if your using it for mainly VR and PCVR a quest 2 should be perfect for you
I'm still using my mine. if you don't mind about 256gb, you are good! I mostly watch and stream adult stuff on it. On the gaming side, still handles a lot
Meta quest 2 elite strap is a must now that the price is cheaper. I looked at the quest 3 but too expensive and the elite strap is crazy price.
I have the quest 3 and gave my little sister tbh I’m doing the same thing on the 3 I did with my 2 and I’m so use to the quality it feels the same .
If you are going to live in very get the 3 , if you don’t use it that much like once a week mostly for a paperweight get the quest 2 . I have the quest 3 and I don’t use it that much I could’ve kept my quest 2 . I thought the reason I didn’t use my quest 2 that much because of the graphics now I understand I’m not into VR that much but will watch a NBA game or a concert every now and then .
I just gave my old Quest 2 to my sister-in-law, and she’s absolutely thrilled with it 😊

The Quest 2 is definitely worth it if you don't already have experience with VR, or a stupid amount of money to try it with--and I say this as a person who, as I've said more than once--really disliked the Quest 2.
After all, I got MY start in VR with an old phone and a $30 "headset" from Amazon! From there, I went to a used Samsung Gear (which was actually defective), then got the Go, jumped at getting the Quest 1, picked up a Rift S, then a G2 (all sold away at pretty good prices, because I take care of my stuff)... and now have a Pico 4, Quest 3, AND the PSVR2.
And I'm hankering to at least try the BigScreen Beyond-- and some time to enjoy my headsets, if I can find any.
From little acorns can come big, make-your-credit-card-cry, oaks... 😂
PS: I've never had the issues with the Fresnels that many people seem to have; my issues have tended to be more with the comfort, or lack thereof, of the headsets, and how they can shift and mess with the visuals if you don't have the perfect head strap and/or facial interface.

Thanks for such a great comment! Yeah it’s really difficult to beat the functionality of Quest 2 given its discounted price and the now cheap accessories. It’s served the community for long enough before quest 3 and I think it’s Gina start this budget entry level vr headset for a long time. Although I’m curious about quest 3 lite!
As a quest 2 user in 2024, I think its ABSOLUTELY worth it. The graphics are cool and it has a nice hardware look, along with most games being available.
For things like virtual tours, does Q3 have better resolution?
Everything looks better on Q3 to be honest, and if you can afford it I say go for it. But if Q2 is gonna be your first headset, it still performs great for virtual tours (I used it with google earth on PC) and gaming is still very enjoyable

I have 2 Quest 2s, I was thinking of selling them and getting a Quest 3 but now Im thinking of holding off for the Quest 3 lite, it seems each headset Meta releases is better than the last regardless of the price.

Visual quality is better in quest 3, and for watching movies this is the most important aspect. It’s also a bit lighter and more ergonomic, which translates into a more comfortable experience wearing it for a long time. So, the answer is Quest 3!

yes. yes it is.
I guess the Quest 2 is good for older children, noobies, and adults who just want to experience VR. But those awful Fresnel lenses, limited IPD choices, and bulky headset makes it less desirable. For those who want to have a better than introduction experience it’s better to spend the extra money for the Quest 3. It’s also good to get the Quest 2 accessories at a lower price for those who do purchase the Quest 2
currently Quest 2 offering is unbeatable for the price, it's definitely an amazing way to experience VR for the first time. If all people's first ever VR experience was Quest 2 quality (and not something like google cardboard) , then VR would have a far better reputation in the community! Cardboard and other phone-based VR really did a lot of damage to people's general opinions of the state of VR. Now that Quest 2 is so affordable, it might be able to reach more people and mend it.
Excellent points….and I do agree that it’s a great introduction to VR. Hopefully they will get the Quest 2 and at some point, stimulate enough interest to move significantly up to the Quest 3

i only have the psvr 2 .. this is a horrible experience... filled whit ''one man developper'' game ,,, everyday,,,, i open this headset... trying to have a ''multiplayer online experience whit the FEW decent games .. and its always fail,, i dont find players,, ,, i try matchmaking in every game and EVERY TIME.. something bad happend,,, no player... or they join and quit.... this is a MISERABLE EXPERIENCE ,,, i have done multiple time the best games '' resident evils'' red matter 2,,,,, there is only 10 good games ,,, i go every day to check if there is a new game,,,, NO,,, never.. they always push back the release date..... i wait for madison VR now... this is the only interesting even i noticed for the next few month.....
